An Experimental Study on the Tuning Characteristics of a Re-enterant cavity resonator (Re-enterant 공동 공진기의 주파수 가변 특성에 관한 실험적 고찰)

  • In this paper the tuning characteristics of resonant frequencies are experimentally studied through the variation of the length of the inner conducting rod in a re-enterant eavity resonator. The re-enterant eavity resonator consists of a coaxial cable and a cylindrical wave guide. The length of the inner conducting rod can be varied to the longitudinal direction. The resonant frequencies of TMonq modes are measured according to the arbitrary length. In order to verify the propriety of experimental results, experimental results are compared with other theoretical results. The results in this paper can be applied to wave meter and resonant circuit of amplifier. They will be use to vary resonant frequencies of a dielectric resonator in MIC and filter.

Resonant Frequency Recovery of Resonator for Magnetic Resonant Wireless Power Transfer Inserted into Dielectric Material (유전체에 삽입된 자기공진형 무선전력전송 공진기의 공진주파수 복원에 관한 연구)

  • The wireless charging of body-embedded medical instruments and wireless power transfer to various inside dielectric-materials is still a future technology that has not yet been achieved. This paper proposes methods for controlling the capacitance of the resonators and installing air pockets on the top and bottom sides of the resonators for optimal design, which considered efficiency and resonant frequency in accordance with the electromagnetic characteristics of the dielectric medium. In future, the results of this research will be utilized as the basic research data to design and restore resonant frequency of resonators embedded in various dielectric environments.

A Computation of the Resonant Frequencies using Contour Graph Method in the Dielectric-disc Loaded Cylindrical Cavity Resonators (유전체 디스크가 삽입된 원통형 공동 공진기에서 Contour Graph 방법을 이용한 공진주파수 계산)

  • We described a method to obtain electromagnetic solution and resonant frequencies in dielectric-disc loaded cylindrical cavity resonators. Resonant frequency of dielectric-disc loaded cylindrical cavity resonators is calculated by analyzing the characteristic equation. The characteristic equation is solved by using the ContourPlot graph of Mathematica. As increasing to height of cavity, we compare the calculated resonant frequency with experimental frequency. The calculated results well agree with the experimental ones. The error between them is 0.2% or 1.6% for the case of the top plate is close to or far from concentric dielectric-disc, respectively.

  • In this paper, the conventional 2 dimensional metamaterial structure has degeneration of shielding characteristic in cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator is designed for reduction of cross polarization effect. The proposed 3-D resonator using LTCC consists of 2-D parallel resonators on X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. The 2-D parallel resonator consists of two plate and one via. When the co-polarization electric filed is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 5.024GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. When the cross-polarization electric field is excited, the resonance frequency of 3-D resonator is 4.825GHz. The stop bandwidth is 19MHz. The proposed 3-D resonator achieve reduction of cross-polarization effect. The concrete consists of proposed 3-D resonator and absorbtion materials. The concrete will be applied for reduction or interference signal of ETCS(Electric Toll collection system).

Low Phase Noise VCO using Microstrip Square Open Loop Multiple Split Ring Resonator (마이크로스트립 사각 개방 루프 다중 SRR(Split Ring Resonator)를 이용한 저위상 잡음 전압 제어 발진기)

  • In this paper, a novel voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using the microstrip square open loop multiple split ring resonator (OLMSRR) is presented for reducing the phase noise property. The square-shaped multiple split ring resonator (MSRR) having the form of the microstrip square open loop is investigated to realize this property. Compared with the microstrip square open loop resonator and the microstrip square open loop split ring resonator (OLSRR) as well as the conventional microstrip line resonator, the microstrip square OLMSRR has the larger coupling coefficient value, which makes a higher Q value, and has reduced the phase noise of VCO. The VCO with 1.7V power suppIy has the phase noise of $-124.5\;{\sim}\;-122.0\;dBc/Hz$ @ 100 kHz in the tuning range, $5.746\;{\sim}\;5.84\;GHz$. The figure of merit (FOM) of this VCO is $-203.96\;{\sim}\;-201.6\;dBc/Hz$ @ 100 kHz in the same tuning range. Compared with VCO using the conventional microstrip line resonator, VCO using the microstrip square open loop resonator and VCO using microstrip square OLSRR, the phase noise property of VCO using the proposed resonator has been improved in 25.66 dB, 8.34 dB, and 4.5 dB, respectively.

Analysis of the Spherical-Rectangular Patch Microstrip Resonator (구면사각패치 마이크로스트립 공진기 해석)

  • We analyze the spherical-rectangular patch microstrip resonator with conformal surface by the cavity model and derive the formulas to calculate resonant frequency in the consideration of effective dielectric constant in order to minimize the errors of resonant frequency due to the fringing fields. A transmission type spherical-rectangular patch microstrip resonator operating at 3GHz, for example, is designed and fabricated on Epsilam-10 substate. Measuring data of resonant frequency and return loss are 2.985 GHz and -44.4dB respectively. Those well agreed with theoretical values.

A simple Q measurement method of a lossy coupled cavity resonator (손실결합 공동공진기의 간편한 Q 측정 방법)

  • The cavity resonator is one of the widely used components in the microwave applications. The unloaded Q, the resonant frequency, and the coupling factor are basic parameters of a cavity. A simple unloaded Q factor measurement procedure of a cavity is proposed in a lossy coupling. The equivalent circuit of a cavity with coupling loss at near the resonant frequency is presented. The coupling loss resistance was found by the measurement of a cavity impedance. The cavity impedance compensated coupling loss was redrawn on the Smith Chart. The loaded Q and coupling factor were obtained based on the compensated impedance locus and then the unloaded Q factor was calculated. To verify the proposed procedure, the cavity with lossless coupling was measured. The two measurement results in the lossy and lossless coupling agree well. The results confirm the proposed procedure is valid.

  • 본 논문은 Ku-band(12.4-18 GHz) 위성통신 시스템 및 이동통신 중계기용 송수신부에 사용되는 고안정도 전압제어 유전체 공진기(Voltage Controlled Dieletric Resonator Oscillator)의 설계 및 제작에 대해 논하였다. 유전체 공진기(Dielectric Resonator)의 등가회로 모델을 이용하여 유전체 공진 발진기(Dielectric Resonator Oscillator)를 설계 알고리즘화 하였다. 유전체 공진 발진기와 바렉터 다이오드를 이용하여 13.4 GHz의 전압 제어 유전체 공진 발진기를 제작하였다. 이때의 출력 전력은 +12dBm이고 위상잡음은 offset 주파수 100kHz에서 -105 dBc/Hz로 측정되었다.

  • 이중 통신(Duplexer) 필터를 설계 및 개발하기 위한 최적조건을 구하기 위해 36° LiTaO3 기판 표면에 빗살무늬 변환기를 사용한 모의 실험을 수행하였으며, 전극 재료로는 Cu-Al(W3%)합금을 이용하였다. 제작한 듀플렉스 필터의 사다리(Lader)형 구조로서 직렬 공진기와 병렬 공진기의 결합으로 필터를 구성하였다. 적절한 통과대역과 저지대역을 형성 하기 위하여 직렬 공진기와 병렬 공지기의 주파수 차이를 30MHz로 했으며, 낮은 저지대역 을 형성하기 위하여 두 공진기의 전기용량의 비는 1로 하였고, 전극의 두께는 2,500Å으로 하였을 때 설계 조건과 일치하는 주파수 응답을 얻었다. 제작한 듀플렉서 필터의 주파수 특 성은 중심 주파수는 836.5MHz와 881.5MHz, 통과대역 폭은 25MHz, 삽입손실은 2.5dB 이하 및 저지대역은 -35dB이하로 나타났다.

Analysis of Dual-mode Resonator with Short-Stub (단락형 스터브에 의한 이중 모드 공진기의 해석)

  • In this paper, electrical lengths and impedances of a dual-mode resonator are calculated by using the transfer function of a dual-mode resonator by realizing the short-stub. The electrical length of transmission-line for a resonator is function of the frequency and the electrical length of stub is defined by the frequency and impedances of line and stub. Also, the inverter value of a bandpass filter using the dual-mode resonator is calculated. The effect of stub's impedance for inverter is very small. And, as the impedance of line is decreasing, the inverter value is increasing and as the bandwidth is increasing, the inverter value is increasing.
