Development of Natural and Ecological Wastewater Treatment System for Decentralized Regions and Rural Communities (분산지역 및 농촌마을 하수처리를 위한 자연정화 고도처리 공법 개발)

  • The feasibility of the Natural and Ecological Wastewater treatment System (NEWS) was examined for rural wastewater treatment in Korea. The intermittent trickling biofilter with high hydrophilic filter media was used for pretreatment for suspended solids and organic pollutants. The subsequent constructed wetland with porous granule materials was used for promoting nutrient removal. The results show that the removal efficiencies of the system were high with respect to the water quality parameters except COD. Even if the effluent from the biofilter did not meet the guidelines for wastewater treatment plant effluent in Korea in terms of $BOD_5$ and TN, the final effluent of the system meets the guidelines us to good performance of the constructed wetland. The regression analysis between pollutant loading rate and removal rate indicated that the system could have stable removal for SS, $BOD_5$, TN, and TP in the given influent ranges. The analysis in the winter period indicated that the wetland covered with transparent polycarbonate glass had the statble performance during the winter period dus to increase of temperature inside the wetland without any heating system. With the stable performance, effective poilutant removal, low maintenance, and cost-effectiveness, the NEWS could be considered as an alternative treatment system for decentralized regions and rural communities in Korea.

Forged Product Characteristic and Cold Rolling Simulation for High-Nitrogen Stainless Steel (HNS) (TP304계 고질소 스테인레스강의 단조특성과 냉간압연 모사)

  • Several high nitrogen stainless steel ingots(100kg) were fabricated with changing Ni and $[N]_2$ contents by Pressurized Vacuum Induction Melting(P_VIM). After free forging process, chemical compositions, microstructure and mechanical properties were estimated. Hardness was increased with the increase of $[N]_2$ content. Furthermore, microstructure including a lot of tempering twins was observed with optical microscope. Mechanical properties were estimated as function of solution treatment temperature and cooling method(air/water) under duration time of 1 hr on sample that were fabricated with Ni content under the atmospheric $[N]_2$ pressure. At solution treatment range of $1050{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$, hardness was decreased with the increase of solution temperature and there were little discrepancy of microstructure and hardness with cooling method. Computer simulation was carried out in order to inspect pass schedule in cold rolling process. When the condition of simulation was roll speed of 2.5mpm, rolling rate $15{\sim}17%$ per pass, it was ascertained that the formation such as deformation by sticking and lamellar sliver etc. was restricted from a simulation.

Effect of food waste properties on methane production (음식물쓰레기의 특성이 메탄생성량에 미치는 영향분석)

  • The buffer capacity of food waste lowers during the collecting and transportation period. Food waste usually shows deficiency of micro nutrients especially molybdenum(Mo) and cobalt(Co). Therefore, food waste can be considered as a good mixture of livestock waste to enhance methane production. The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation between properties of substrates (local food waste and livestock manure) and methane yields for successive anaerobic fermentation process and its stable management. Food wastes were taken at an intermediate storage or treatment system provided by eight local authorities (Gangnam, Gangdong, Gwanak, Guro, Dongjak, Songpa, Yeongdeungpo, and Younsan) in Seoul. The solid content and potential methane yield of food wastes were average of 16% and $446.6STP-m{\ell}/g-VS$ (range from 334.8 to $567.5STP-m{\ell}/g-VS$) respectively. As for the beef cattle manure, the solid content and potential methane yield had an average of 26% and $280.6STP-m{\ell}/g-VS$ respectively. Potential methane yield had a positive correlation with fat content, and hydrogen content and a negative correlation with carbohydrate content ($r^2>0.8$). Therefore, the potential methane yield can be predicted based on the substrate characterization results with reasonable accuracy. Further research may be needed to investigate the relation of the properties of the mixture substrate and methane production rate. The mixtures may include food waste, livestock waste, and bulking agents (saw dust, rice hull, or agricultural byproducts etc.) to determine best combination of these substrates for maximum methane production rate.

Effect of Oxygen Supply on the Production of Interferon ${\alpha}$-1 by Recombinant Escherichia coli in Fed-batch Fermentation (유가식 배양에서 재조합 대장균으로부터 Interferon ${\alpha}$-1 생산에 산소 공급이 미치는 영향)

  • In order to achieve high-level expression of interferon-${\alpha}1$ (IFN-${\alpha}1$) during fed-batch fermentation of recombinant E. coli, effects of oxygen supply and induction temperature on the expression of recombinant proteins were evaluated. Supplementation of oxygen and its transfer into cells is one of the most important parameters involved in the design and operation of mixing-sparging equipment for bioreactors. Generally, higher oxygen supply stimulates cell growth of aerobic microorganism and consequently the amount of products is increased. In this study, the optimum aeration strategy for the higher production of IFN-${\alpha}1$ during fed-batch fermentation of recombinant E. coli was surveyed. The growth of the cells was also monitored with four different concentrations of dissolved oxygen (DO; limiting, 20%, 35%, 50%) conditions. The DO was controlled by varying aeration rates of air and pure oxygen. Oxygen uptake rate (OUR) and specific oxygen uptake rate (SOUR) were evaluated and compared for the enhanced growth and induction of the cells and IFN-${\alpha}1$, respectively. We confirmed that increased DO by additional oxygen supply, up to 35%, can improve the production of IFN-${\alpha}1$ during the fermentation.

  • 필기 단어 인식 방법에는 낱자별 분할 및 낱자 단위 인식을 통해 인식하는 방법과 단어 사전을 이용하여 단어와 영상을 직접 비교하는 방법이 있다. 이 중 후자는 인식 대상이 되는 단어들이 작은 수의 어휘로 제한되었을 대 매우 효과적이다. 본 논문에서는 입력 영상이 주어졌을 때 자모를 순차적으로 탐색하고 그 결과의 최적 조합을 찾아 인식하는 사전을 이용한 필기 한글 단어 인식 방법을 제안한다. 입력 영상은 사전의 각 단어와의 매칭을 통해 인식된다. 단어는 필기 순서로 정렬된 자모열로 표현하고 입력 영상은 획들의 집합으로 표현한다. 단어의 자모들은 입력 영상으로부터 추출된 획들의 집합으로부터 단계적으로 탐색된다. 각 단계에서는 전 단계까지의 매칭 상태와 탐색하려는 자모의 형태로부터 자모가 존재할 것이라고 기대되는 정합 기대 영역을 설정한 후 그 안에서 자모 탐색기를 이용해 자모를 찾는다. 자모 탐색기는 획들의 집합으로 이루어진 복수의 자모 후보와 그 점수를 출력한다. 각 단계마다 생성된 자모 후보들은 최적의 단어 매칭을 찾기 위한 탐색 공간을 이룬다. 본 연구에서는 단어 사전을 trie로 구성하고, 탐색 과정에서 dynamic programming을 이용하여 효과적으로 탐색을 수행하였다. 또한 인식 속도를 향상시키기 위해 산전 축소, 탐색 공간 축소 등 다양한 지식을 이용하였다. 제안하는 방법은 무제약으로 쓰여진 필기 단어도 인식 할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 동적 사전을 이용하기 때문에 사전의 내용이 변하는 환경에서도 적용할 수 있다. 인식 실험에서는 39개의 단어로 이루어진 사전에 대하여 613개의 단어 영상에 대해 실험한 결과 98.54%의 높은 인식률을 보임으로써 제안하는 방법이 매우 효과적임을 확인하였다. 아니라 곰팡이 균주도 실제 praxis에 적합하게 개발시킬수 있다. 따라서 앞으로 발효육제품제조에 있어 starter culture가 갖는 의미는 매우 중요하며 특히 짧은 숙성기간을 거치는 발효소시지의 제조에 있어서는 필수불가결한 공정의 한 분야로 자리잡게 될 것이다.큰 차이 없었으나 이중포장과 진공포장은 상당히 효과적임을 알 수 있었다.로는 18%에 비하여 22%가 더 적합한 것으로 생각되었다.$0.15{\sim}0.35%$이었다.irc}C$에서 $13.49{\times}10^{-3}$이었다. 이 값들을 Arrhenius식에 대입하여 구한 활성화 에너지는 24.795 kJ/Kmol이었다. 이 값으로부터 결정한 살균 포장약주 명가의 상용 저장 수명은 $10^{\circ}C$에서 2년, $20^{\circ}C$에서 1년 4개월, $25^{\circ}C$에서 1년 2개월 이었다. 서울의 매월 평균 온도를 기준으로 계산할 때 본제품의 상용저장기간은 1년 8개월이었다.로 반죽이 호화되고 가열시간이 그 이상으로 증가할 때도 반죽의 호화가 약간은 진행되지만 $90^{\circ}C$ 이상의 가열온도에서는 가열시간 0.5분 이내에 반죽의 호화가 급속히 일어나고 가열 시간을 증가시켜도 더이상의 호화는 일어나지 않았다. 같은 조건에서는 waxy corn starch 반죽의 호화 속도가 corn starch보다 더 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 대표적으로 52% 수분함량에서 반응속도상수(k)와 가열온도(T)사이의 관계식은 corn starch의 경우 $logk=11.1140-4.1226{\times}10^3(1/T)

  • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) have wide application area. They are of vital importance at process plants to detect the onset of hazardous events, for instance, a release of some hazardous material, and for mitigating their consequences to humans, material assets, and the environment. The integrated safety systems, where electrical, electronic, and/or programmable electronic (E/E/PE) devices interact with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems are governed by international safety standards like IEC 61508. IEC 61508 organises its requirements according to a Safety Life Cycle (SLC). Fulfilling these requirements following the SLC can be complex without the aid of SIS supporting tools. This paper presents simple SIS support tool which can greatly help the user to implement the design phase of the safety lifecycle. This tool is modelled in the form of Android application which can be integrated with a Web-based data reading and modifying system. This tool can reduce the computation time spent on the design phase of the SLC and reduce the possible errors which can arise in the process. In addition, this paper presents an optimization approach to SISs based on cost measures. The multi-objective genetic algorithm has been used for the optimization to search for the best combinations of solutions without enumeration of all the solution space.

  • This paper describes an intelligent real-time monitoring system of a semiconductor processing equipment, which determines normal or not for a wafer in processing, using multiple time-series pattern recognition. The proposed system consists of three phases, initialization, learning and real-time prediction. The initialization phase sets the weights and tile effective steps for all parameters of a monitoring equipment. The learning phase clusters time series patterns, which are producted and fathered for processing wafers by the equipment, using LBG algorithm. Each pattern has an ACI which is measured by a tester at the end of a process The real-time prediction phase corresponds a time series entered by real-time with the clustered patterns using Dynamic Time Warping, and finds the best matched pattern. Then it calculates a predicted ACI from a combination of the ACI, the difference and the weights. Finally it determines Spec in or out for the wafer. The proposed system is tested on the data acquired from etching device. The results show that the error between the estimated ACI and the actual measurement ACI is remarkably reduced according to the number of learning increases.

A Fundamental Properties of the Concrete Using Coarse Particle Cement and Mineral Admixture (굵은입자 시멘트와 광물질 혼화재를 조합 사용하는 콘크리트의 기초적 특성)

  • This research intends to analyze the basic characteristics of cements(hereinafter "CC") with affordable price and particle distribution effective as hydration heat face which are discharged at the outlet of smashing process of ordinary portland cement(hereinafter "OPC") manufacturing process such as fluidity, rigidity, temporary insulation temperature increase amount etc to review the potential of developing "CC" to 3 ingredients low heat cement that substitutes fly ash and blast furnace slag(hereinafter "BS"). As a result of experiment, fluidity tended to decrease with increase in CC substitution rate, and increase with increase in FA+BS substitution rate. Air amount tended to slightly decrease with increase in CC substitution rate, and decrease with increase in FA+BS substitution rate. Condensation characteristics were such that condensation time was delayed with increase in CC and FA+BS substitution rate. As for the temperature rising amount by temporary insulation, peak temperature decreased with increase in CC substitution rate and increase in FA+BS substitution rate in general, and thereafter, temperature tended to decrease slowly. Compressive strength decreased with increase in CC and FA+BS substitution rate, and as aging goes on, long term strength was equivalent to plain or higher. By and large, when FA+BS was substituted to CC, fluidity and air amount tended to decrease, but hydration heat face showed good reduction effects, suggesting possibility of development to 3 ingredients low heat cement.

  • In this research, the processing control of NiCuZn Ferrite (NCZF) had been studied. NiCuZn Ferrite, which calcined at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3 bours, was ball milled for about 60 hours to ill김ke a size of $0.5\mu\;extrm{m}$ followed by granulation using spray dryer Apparent densincatioo rate and initial permeability of NiCuZn Ferrite with an initial packing density had been investigated as f follows. 1.The relative packing density of NCZF green body increas$\xi$d in the range of 48.6-56.8% with an increased forming pressure of 20-170 MPa. 2. The higher the relative pac퍼ng density of NCZF and the sintering temperature are, the higher the initial densification rate. The increased bulk rlcnsity of NCZF was attributed to the densification rate with decreased open pore and increased closed pore as the relative packing density, sintering temperature, and sinteriog tim$\xi$ increased. 3. The initial P permeability of NCZF with constant composition is logarithmically proportional to the bulk density of NCZF sintered at $875~925^{\circ}C$ for 0-5h, and strongly depended on the relative packing density of NCZF green body. Effects of Concentrated Pig Slurry Separated from Membrane Filter and Several Environment-Friendly Agro-Materials Mixtures on the Growth and Yield of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in Hydroponics (막분리 돈분농축액비와 몇가지 친환경농자재의 혼합액이 수경재배에서 상추의 생육과 수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of concentrated pig slurry separated from membrane filter and by environment-friendly agro-materials mixtures on growth of lettuce in hydroponics. The swine waste treatment system having a ultra filtration and a reverse osmosis process was designed in this study. Filtration of pig slurry was necessary to prevent the hose clogging in hydroponics. Primary separation using ultra filter was followed by concentration by RO (Reverse Osmosis). The concentrated pig slurry (CS) was mixed by five different environment-friendly agro-materials mixtures. The chemical nutrient solution was the solution of National Horticulture Research Station for the growth of lettuce. The concentration of nutrient solution in hydroponics was adjusted a range of 1.5 mS/cm in EC. The concentrated pig slurry was low in phosphorus(P), suspended solid and heavy matal, but rich in potassium (K). The concentrated slurry was lowest in the growth characteristics of leaf lettuce. And also SPAD value in leaf was reduced in plot treated with concentrated slurry. But the growth of lettuce in the mixtures plot (CS+BM+AA, CS+BM+AA+SW) in hydroponics was significantly high compared to concentrated slurry. The fresh yield of lettuce was 78, 84% that of nutrient solution as 131.9, 142.2g in plot of CS+BM+AA and CS+BM+AA+SW, respectively. Our studies have shown that it is possible to produce organic culture using concentrated slurry and environment-friendly agro-materials mixture, although growth is slower than when using a conventional inorganic hydroponic solution.
