  • To increase the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers products, CAE system, process and fast delivery of development information and implementation of retrieval system introduced for manufacturers is necessary situation For this purpose, this study analysed instance to build integrated design simulation system that provide design automation, modular design, design standards, automation of quality verification and design knowledge. Also, we discuss that improve design of the new product and increasing the satisfaction of our customers. Completed development of simulation systems are the basic steps, and pilot operation about new product. During pilot operation, the systems is improved. Through this process, the experimental data accumulated to increase the effectiveness of the simulation, and improve the utilization. Therefore, this study have many theoretical, practical value for growing global company.

Design and Implementation of the Digital Neuron Processor for the real time object recognition in the making Automatic system (생산자동화 시스템에서 실시간 물체인식을 위한 디지털 뉴런프로세서의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we designed and implementation of the high speed neuron processor for real time object recognition in the making automatic system. and we designed of the PE(Processing Element) used residue number system without carry propagation for the high speed operation. Consisting of MAC(Multiplication and Accumulation) operator using residue number system and sigmoid function operator unit using MAC(Mixed Radix conversion) is designed. The designed circuits are descript by C language and VHDL(Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description Language) and synthesized by compass tools and finally, the designed processor is fabricated in $0.8{\mu}m$ CMOS process. we designed of MAC operation unit and sigmoid proceeding unit are proved that it could run time 0.6nsec on the simulation and improved to the speed of the three times and decreased to hardware size about 50%, each order. The designed neuron processor can be implemented of the object recognition in making automatic system with desired real time processing.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing a computer-aided design system of cold forging products. An approach to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from plastic theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. The system has been written in AutoCAD with a personal computer and is composed of six modules, which are selection of billet material, input of final product, process planning design, preform modification, insert design, shrink rings design module. Based on knowledge-based rules, the system is designed by considering several factors such as volume constancy, limite of formability by material, preform shape and so on.

  • For manufacturing industry to achieve efficient manufacturing process, improving a company's productivity and reducing cost is a required task of the current manufacturing companies. For design of efficient manufacturing process and improvement of productivity, efficient manufacturing process method is studied through removal of unnecessary elements analyzing motions and using test-bed linkage system based on virtual reality. When building process line after verifying optimization through virtual process arrangement simulation in advance, it is available to save additional cost for process modification or supplement to result in practical effects of improving a company's manufacturing competition. Reducing design period, improving equipment, making automation, realizing ergonomics, and improving process through this study, it will be available to achieve improvement of productivity, enhancement of quality, cost reduction as well as employees' satisfaction for safety and health.

Development of A Software Tool for Automatic Trim Steel Design of Press Die Using CATIA API (CATIA API를 활용한 프레스금형 트림스틸 설계 자동화 S/W 모듈 개발)

  • This paper focuses on the development of a supporting S/W tool for the automated design of an automotive press trim die. To define the die design process based on automation, we analyze the press die design process of the current industry and group repetitive works in the 3D modeling process. The proposed system consists of two modules, namely the template models of the trim steel parts and UI function for their auto-positioning. Four kinds of template models are developed to adapt to various situations and the rules of the interaction formula which are used for checking and correcting the directions of the datum point, datum curve, datum plane are implemented to eliminate errors. The system was developed using CATIA Knowledgeware, CAA(CATIA SDK) and Visual C++, in order for it to function as a plug-in module of CATIA V5, which is one of the major 3D CAD systems in the manufacturing industry. The developed system was tested by applying it to various panels of current automobiles and the results showed that it reduces the time-cost by 74% compared to the traditional method.

  • In this paper, we present a network-based integrated nesting system, that is adapted a current engineering concept. Generally, sheet cutting processes proceed in turn following an existing order In this study, however, the special characteristics of these processes were analyzed and the processes were redesigned with distributed design so that they could be operated in a client/server environment. Also, the necessary sheet material cutting processes, part CAD, nesting, part CAM, and NC post-processor capabilities, were implemented so that many workers could handle them all on the Web. Compared to existing commonly used systems, the developed system can provide integrated work environment for cutting automation, allow job collaboration between workers, and it has proved that it can shorten the standby time for work. By grafting computer system technologies to sheet material cutting automation field, this research expects to contribute to the enhancement of factory automation efficiency and productivity.

  • Virtual manufacturing (VM) is a powerful technology for developing a new product, new equipment and new manufacturing system, and three-dimensional (3D) simulation is a core technology in VM. 3D simulation involves both mechanical simulation and discrete event simulation. This paper introduces a case study of implementing 3D simulation for developing an automatic assembly line in a Korean optical factory. This factory produces a lens module that is the part of a phone-camera. 3D simulation technology is applied from the early stage of development. In the conceptual design and the initial design phases for individual equipment, 3D mechanical simulation using $CATIA^{(R)}$ and $IGRIP^{(R)}$ is conducted. 3D discrete event simulation with $QUEST^{(R)}$ is applied to the detailed design of the equipment and of the whole system. The focus of the simulation is to verify the technical and economical feasibility of the new automatic system. As a result, the takt time is reduced to the quarter of the manual system, and the number of workers in a line is reduced tremendously.

  • 인터넷의 비약적인 발달은 제어시스템의 설계 및 운영에도 많은 영향을 미치게 되어 지금까지와는 전혀 다른 시스템 구현이 가능한 환경으로 만들어 가고 있다. 이와 같은 배경에서 본 연구에서는 LabVIEW를 이용한 복합 공정의 제어 및 모니터링을 Web을 기반으로 한 새로운 방법의 원격제어 시스템을 사용하여 가상실험실을 구현하였다. LS산전의 GLOFA-GM3와 미쓰비시의 MELSEC-Q PLC를 각각 TCP/IP와 RS-232C통신을 사용하여 복합공정 제어 시스템을 구현하였다. NI사의 LabVIEW 프로그램에서 지원하는 Web 출판 기능을 사용하여 웹상에서 50대의 Clint PC의 접속을 가능하게 하여 원격으로 접속, 학습이 가능하도록 가상실험실을 구현하였으며 학습자들은 원격으로 복합 제어공정을 실시간으로 학습할 수 있게 되었다. 나아가 Web 상에서 원격제어의 가능성을 활용하여 산업체에서의 활용범위를 넓히고, 가상 교육환경의 가능성을 열었다.

Recognition of Machining Features on Prismatic Components (각주형 부품상의 가공 특징형상 인식)

  • As a part of development of process planning system for mold die manufaturing, a software system is developed, which recognizes features and extracts parameters of the shape from design data produced by solid modeller. The recognized feature date is fed to process planning and operation planning system. Low level geometry and topology data from commercial CAD system is transformed to high level machining feature data which used to be done by using a dedicated design system. The recognition algorithm is applied to the design data with boundary representation produced by a core modeller ACIS which has object oriented open architecture and is expected to become a common core modeller of next generation CAD system. The algoritm of recognition has been formulated for 21 features on prismatic components, but the feature set can be expanded by adding rules for the additional features.

Data analysis of 4M data in small and medium enterprises (빅데이터 도입을 위한 중소제조공정 4M 데이터 분석)

  • In order to secure an important competitive advantage in manufacturing business, an automation and information system from manufacturing process has been introduced; however, small and medium enterprises have not met the power of information in the manufacturing fields. They have been managing the manufacturing process that is depending on the operator's experience and data written by hand, which has limits to reveal cause of defective goods clearly, in the case of happening of low-grade goods. In this study, we analyze critical factors which affect the quality of some manufacturing process in terms of 4M. We also studied the automobile parts processing of the small and medium manufacturing enterprises controlled with data written by hand so as to collect the data written by hand and to utilize sensor data in the future. Analysis results show that there is no deference in defective quantity in machines, while raw materials, production quality and task tracking have significant deference.
