To keep pace with Industry 4.0, it is imperative for companies to redesign their working environments by adopting robotic automation systems. Automation lines are facilitating the latest cutting-edge technologies, such as 3D vision and industrial robots, to outdo competitors by reducing costs. Considering the nature of the manufacturing industry, a time-saving workflow and smooth linkwork between processes is vital. At Dellics, without any additional new installation in the automation lines, only a few improvements to the working process could raise productivity. Three requirements are the development of gripping technology by utilizing a 3D vision system for the recognition of the material shape and location, research on lighting projectors to target long distances and high illumination, and testing of algorithms/software to improve measurement accuracy and identify products. With some of the functional requisites mentioned above, improved robotic automation systems should provide an improved working environment to maximize overall production efficiency. In this article, the ways in which such a system can become the groundwork for establishing an unmanned working infrastructure are discussed.
In recent, there is research to maximize production by preventing failures/accidents in advance through fault diagnosis/prediction and factory automation in the industrial field. Cloud technology for accumulating a large amount of data, big data technology for data processing, and Artificial Intelligence(AI) technology for easy data analysis are promising candidate technologies for accomplishing this. Also, recently, due to the development of fault diagnosis/prediction, the equipment maintenance method is also developing from Time Based Maintenance(TBM), being a method of regularly maintaining equipment, to the TBM of combining Condition Based Maintenance(CBM), being a method of maintenance according to the condition of the equipment. For CBM-based maintenance, it is necessary to define and analyze the condition of the facility. Therefore, we propose a machine learning-based system and data model for diagnosing the fault in this paper. And based on this, we will present a case of predicting the fault occurrence in advance.

AGVs are often used in industrial applications to transport heavy materials around a large industrial building, such as factories or warehouses. In particular, in fulfillment centers their usefulness is maximized for automation. To increase productivity in warehouses such as fulfillment centers, sophisticated path planning of AGVs is required. We propose a scheme that can be applied to QMIX, a popular cooperative MARL algorithm. The performance was measured with three metrics in several fulfillment center layouts, and the results are presented through comparison with the performance of the existing QMIX. Additionally, we visualize the transport paths of trained AGVs for a visible analysis of the behavior patterns of the AGVs as heat maps.

Given that time series are used in various fields, such as finance, IoT, and manufacturing, data analytical methods for accurate time-series forecasting can serve to increase operational efficiency. Among time-series analysis methods, multi-horizon forecasting provides a better understanding of data because it can extract meaningful statistics and other characteristics of the entire time-series. Furthermore, time-series data with exogenous information can be accurately predicted by using multi-horizon forecasting methods. However, traditional deep learning-based models for time-series do not account for the heterogeneity of inputs. We proposed an improved time-series predicting method, called the temporal fusion transformer method, which combines multi-horizon forecasting with interpretable insights into temporal dynamics. Various real-world data such as stock prices, fine dust concentrates and electricity consumption were considered in experiments. Experimental results showed that our temporal fusion transformer method has better time-series forecasting performance than existing models.
As the physical layer on telecommunication network is replaced fiber optic lines, it is increased the need of systematic maintenance for fiber optic lines. Korea Telecom has developed FLOMS in order to establish maintenance processes for optical fiber lines. FLOMS has functions which manages optical facilities and tests optical fiber lines automatically. As a resuls, this system can check and/or report a fault. Operator, who is reponsible for management of optical fiber lines, can test the characteristics of optical fiber lines remotely using FLOMS. As interpoerable with Digital Transmission Management System, FLOMS provides efficient management for optical fiber lines. This system improves the work process to find fault location fast, detect the degradation of fiber quality, and make database of optical facilities efficiently.
Because a product in the car industry has a short life cycle in recent years, the process planning and the manufacturing lines have to be changed frequently. Most of time, repositioning an existing facility and modifying used control information are faster than making completely new process planning. However, control information and control code such as PLC code are difficult to understand. Hence, industries prefer writing a new control code instead of using the existing complex one. It shows the lack of information reusability in the existing process planning. As a result, to reduce this redundancy and lack of reusability, we propose a SOS-Net modeling method. SOS-Net is a standard methodology used to describe control information. It is based on the Device Structure which consists of sensor information derived from device hardware information. Thus, SOS-Net can describe a real control state for automated manufacturing systems. The SOS-Net model is easy to understand and can be converted into PLC Code easily. It also enables to modify control information, thus increases the reusability of the new process planning. Proposed model in this paper plays an intermediary role between the process planning and PLC code generation. It can reduce the process planning and implementation time as well as cost.
Existing research about automated wafer transport management strategy for semiconductor manufacturing equipment was mainly focused on dispatching rules which is optimized to specific system layout, process environment or transfer patterns. But these methods can cause problem as like requiring additional rules or changing whole transport management strategy when applied to new type of process or system. In addition, a lack of consideration for interconnectedness of the added rules can cause unexpected deadlock. In this study, in order to improve these problems, propose dynamic priority based transfer job decision making algorithm which is applicable with regardless of system lay out and transfer patterns. Also, extra rule handling part proposed to support special transfer requirement which is available without damage to generality for maintaining a consistent scheduling policies and minimize loss of stability due to expansion and lead to improve productivity at the same time. Simulation environment of Twin-slot type semiconductor equipment was built In order to measure performance and examine validity about proposed wafer scheduling algorithm.

The 4th industrial revolution is accelerating the transition to digital innovation in various aspects of our daily lives, and efforts for manufacturing innovation are continuing in the manufacturing industry, such as smart factories. The 4th industrial revolution technology in manufacturing can be used based on AI, big data, IoT, cloud, and robots. Through this, it is required to develop a technology to establish a production facility data collection and analysis system that has evolved from the existing automation and to find the cause of defects and minimize the defect rate. In this paper, we implemented a system that collects power, environment, and status data from production facility sites through IoT devices, quantifies them in real-time in a cloud computing environment, and displays them in the form of MQTT-based real-time infographics using widgets. The real-time sensor data transmitted from the IoT device is stored to the cloud server through a Rest API method. In addition, the administrator could remotely monitor the data on the dashboard and analyze it hourly and daily.

This study was carried out to develop an automatic loading equipment that can load seedling trays on loading position of the seedling bed driving on enclosed-type rail installed for interconnecting each process of raising seedlings in plant factory. The experiment of transferring the seedling tray by monorail pusher was carried out to figure out the required transfer force and problems during push type device of transporting the plastic seedling trays, that has completed its sowing process, which are installed onto the board of different materials. From the results of this experiment, the loading equipment which can exactly load three of the seedling trays orderly on the loading position of the seedling bed was designed and made. When three sowed trays on every board are transferred by pusher with the speed is at 30 cm/s, the maximum peak transfer force with maximum overshooting at initial transient state and the maximum transfer force at stead state are were respectively 32.8 N, 29.4 N on rubber board, 29.7 N, 22.5 N on a wooden board, 26.9 N, 19.6 N on a acrylic board, and 27.6 N, 19.1 N on an iron board. Changes in the transfer force occurred its maximum at the moment when the pusher collided with the tray, after the collision gradually decreased until it became stable. When two or three trays placed it in order of widthwise are transferred, it is occurred the overlapping of the tray's external bracket. The developed automatic loading equipment with PLC controller did not make any operation error through 100 times of tests, its maximum seedling tray loading speed was 2 sec/tray and its maximum error of transferred location of the tray was 0.5 cm.

An ICS(industrial control system) is a complex system that safely and efficiently monitors and controls industrial processes such as electric power, water treatment, transportation, automation plants and chemical plants. Because successful cyber attacks targeting ICS can lead to casualties or serious economic losses, it becomes a prime target of hacker groups sponsored by national state. Cyber campaigns such as Stuxnet, Industroyer and TRITON are real examples of successful ICS attacks, and were developed based on the deep knowledge of the target ICS. Therefore, for incident investigation of ICSs, inspectors also need knowledge of control processes and accident investigation techniques specialized for ICSs. Because there is no applicable technology, it is especially necessary to develop techniques and tools for embedded controllers located at cyber and physical boundaries. As the first step in this research, we reviewed logging capability of 4 PLC(Programmable Logic Controller)s widely used in an ICS area, and checked whether selected PLCs generate logs that can be used for digital investigation in the proposed cyber attack scenario.
