Experimental Study about Two-phase Damping Ratio on a Tube Bundle Subjected to Homogeneous Two-phase Flow (균질 2상 유동에 놓인 관군에 작용하는 감쇠비에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Two-phase cross flow exists in many shell-and-tube heat exchangers such as condensers, evaporators, and nuclear steam generators. The drag force acting on a tube bundle subjected to air/water flow is evaluated experimentally. The cylinders subjected to two-phase flow are arranged in a normal square array. The ratio of pitch to diameter is 1.35, and the diameter of the cylinder is 18 mm. The drag force along the flow direction on the tube bundles is measured to calculate the drag coefficient and the two-phase damping ratio. The two-phase damping ratios, given by the analytical model for a homogeneous two-phase flow, are compared with experimental results. The correlation factor between the frictional pressure drop and the hydraulic drag coefficient is determined from the experimental results. The factor is used to calculate the drag force analytically. It is found that with an increase in the mass flux, the drag force, and the drag coefficients are close to the results given by the homogeneous model. The result shows that the damping ratio can be calculated using the homogeneous model for bubbly flow of sufficiently large mass flux.

  • In this study, CFD analysis for 2D ellipse and 3D CRW UAV are performed. Furthermore, flow analysis around a hub connecting body and rotor is analyzed and a strategy to reduce the drag caused by the hub is sought. Also, the idea of fairing installation is confirmed by a wind tunnel test.

  • A goal of improving projectile is to increasing achievable range. The shape of a projectile is generally selected on the basis of combined aerodynamics and structural considerations. The choice of body, nose and boattail shape has a large effect on aerodynamic design. One of the main design factors that affect projectile configuration is aerodynamic drag. The aerodynamic drag refers to the aerodynamic force that acts opposite to the relative motion of a projectile. An investigation was made to predict the effects of nose, boattail and body shapes on the aerodynamic characteristics of projectiles using a semi-empirical technique. A parametric study is conducted which includes different projectile geometry. Performance predictions of achievable range are conducted using a trajectory simulation model. The potential of extending the range of a projectile using optimization of projectile configuration is evaluated. The maximum range increase is achieved due to the combination of optimal body shapes.

A Study of Three Dimensional Flow Characteristics near the Porous Wall (다공성 방풍벽의 3차원 유동특성)

  • A study has been done on the three dimensional turbulent flow characteristic near the porous wall. The porous holes are considered by penetrating the wall in regular arrangement, and porosity is controlled by diameter of holes. Flow characteristics near the three dimensional porous wall are compared with field test results and self-generated experimental results. FLUENT is employed for computational analysis on the effect of three dimensional porosity with flow and pressure characteristics. As a result, drag coefficient is defined and compared for three dimensional effect. The drag coefficient is mostly a function of porosity, whereas the effect of Reynolds number is minimal, and its correlation is presented in terms of three dimensional porosity.

자기부상열차의 공력 특성에 관한 수치 연구

  • 본 연구에서는 초고속 자기부상열차의 단면도를 통하여 2-D형상을 모델링하고 이를 기반으로 항력과 유동 특성에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 유동의 마하수가 0.3 이상임을 고려하여 압축성 모델이 사용되었고, 난류모델은 Menter's k-w SST(Shear Stress Transport)모델을 적용시켰다. 2-D 해석과 자기부상열차의 특성상 열차가 공기중에서 주행하고 있는 것으로 가정하고 공력 특성을 해석하였다.

  • 분류층 가스화기 설계를 위한 일차연구로서 가스화기 이차공기 주입방법에 따른 비반응 난류장에 대한 수치해석을 검사체적에 기초한 유한차분방법을 이용하여 수행하였다. 압력과 속도의 연계문제는 SIMPLEC 알고리즘을, 레이놀즈 전단력은 k-$\varepsilon$ 난류모델을 사용하였다. 입자궤적 계산은 공기역학적 항력만을 고려하였으며 비선형적인 공기저항력에 의한 난류변동상관모델은 고려치 않았다. 이차공기 주입방법(parallel injection과 nonparallel 3$0^{\circ}C$ injection)에 따른 수치해석을 수행하여 Ar tracer의 질량분율에 대한 실험자료와 비교하여 만족할 만한 결과를 얻었으며 이차공기의 주입각 및 기타 제반변수에 따른 유동장 변화를 분석하였다.

  • 에어포일(airfoil)이 공기속을 지날 때 양력이 발생한다. 공간상을 비행하는 물체에는 중력, 추력, 양력, 항력의 네 가지 힘이 작용한다. 본 논문에서는 항공역학의 연구결과를 바탕으로 차이니즈탑이란 물체가 회전하면서 수직상승과 호버링 그리고 하강하는 동안의 운동형태를 사실적이면서도 실시간으로 구현한다. 그 결과는 게임이나 비행 시뮬레이션에 응용할 수 있다.

  • A computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical model has been developed to effectively study the ventilation efficiency of multi-span greenhouses with internal crops. As the first step of the study, the internal plants of the CFD model had to be designed as a porous media because of the complexity of its physical shapes. In this paper, the results of the wind tunnel tests were introduced to find the aerodynamic resistance of the plant canopy. The Seogun tomato was used for this study which made significant effects on thermal and mass exchanges with the adjacent air as well as internal airflow resistance. With the main factors of wind speed, static pressure, and density of plant canopy, the aerodynamic resistance factor was statically found. It was finally found to be 0.26 which will be used later as an input data of the CFD model. Moreover, the experimental procedure of how to find the aerodynamic resistance of various plants using, wind tunnel was established through this study.

A Study on the Characteristics of Wing Tip Shapes for Induce Drag Reduction (유도항력 감소를 위한 날개끝 형상 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 공기의 흐름 중에 있는 유한 날개의 끝에서는 날개끝 와류로 인하여 날개에 내리흐름(downwash)이 발생하게 된다. 이러한 내리흐름은 유도항력을 발생시켜 양항특성이 감소하게 된다. 따라서 날개끝 와류를 적절히 제어하면 어느 정도 유도항력을 감소시킬 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 직사각형 날개와 테이퍼형 날개 끝에 여러 가지 형상의 strake를 장착하거나, 날개끝 와류를 제어하기 위하여 여러 개의 slot을 형성시켰을 때의 양항특성을 실험 및 수치해석으로 연구한 결과를 기술하였다. 실험결과 직사각형 날개끝에 장착한 wing tip strake의 밑변을 바깥쪽으로 절단한 wing tip strake의 양항특성이 받음각 $8^{\circ}$ 이상에서 우수하였고, 반면에 밑변을 절단하지 않은 경우는 받음각 $0^{\circ}\;^{\sim}\;8^{\circ}$ 사이에서 기본날개보다 양항비가 증가하였다. 테이퍼형 날개끝에 wing tip strake를 장착하였을 때의 양항비는 받음각 전 범위에 걸쳐 기본날개보다 증가하였으며, 받음각$8^{\circ}$ 이상에서 wing tip strake의 밑변을 절단하지 않은 wing tip strake의 양항특성이 우수하였다. 방사형 다중슬롯의 경우 날개끝의 앞전보다 뒷전 쪽에 형성시키는 것이 양항비특성이 우수하였다.

Fairing Design of Commercial Vehicles for Drag Force Reduction (항력 저감을 위한 지상차량용 페어링 형상설계)

  • A cab roof fairing is a device that reduces the drag coefficient of a commercial vehicle, by controlling the resistance of flow separation occurring in the front when the commercial vehicle travels. Commercial vehicles are designed to facilitate aerodynamic resistance that cannot be avoided from the driving direction of the vehicle, because they must structurally load containers in the rear. For this reason, it is closely related to oil costs and environmental pollutants. In this study, the 3D fairing shape was designed based on the Rankine half body theory, and the design results were verified through aerodynamic analysis.
