Experimental Study on Aerodynamic Drag Characteristics by Train Bogie Shape Variation (차세대 고속열차 대차 형상에 따른 공기저항 변화에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • Wind tunnel tests are performed so as to investigate the aerodynamic drag characteristics of HEMU-400x, next generation Korean high speed train. The experiments of 1/20 scaled 5-car train model are done at 30, 40, 50, 60m/s with a normal bogie, a bogie cover, and a streamlined shape. The flat plate with knife edge are installed to minimize the effect of boundary layer of wind tunnel for the train model. The aerodynamic drag reduction was more by a streamlined shape than by a bogie cover from a normal bogie. Based on the experimental results, the aerodynamic drag of HEMU-400x test train(6-car) was predicted. It is prediceted that More bogie cover could reduce more aerodynamic drag of the test train in replacement of normal bogies.

An Experimental Study on Freezing and Thawing Resistance of Fly Ash Concrete (플라이애쉬 콘크리트의 동경융해저항성에 관한 연구)

  • It is generally known that the concrete structure subjected to severe environment is much affected by the corrosion of reinforcement, the freezing and thawing action of concrete structure. The main objective of this study is to investigate the freezing and thawing resistance of concrete including fly ash. The effect of the air content in concrete using fly ash is investigated. The experimental study is conducted for 10 mix-ratio cases of concrete of which variables are content of fly ash, concrete compressive strength and containment of air-entrained admixtures. Test results show that the freezing and thawing resistance improves as the amounts of fly ash increase, and concrete with air-entrained admixtures has good freezing and thawing resistance. The concrete with fly ash is to be included air-entrained admixture according to content of fly ash in order to increase the freezing and thawing resistance.

  • Thick film copper conductors are of considerable interest in thick film industries because of both the potential cost saving compared to the noble metal conductors and the favorable properties in electrical conductivity, solderability, solder leach resistance and wire bondability, However, formation of the excellent copper thick film is a lot complicated due to easily oxidizing property of copper at high temperature. In order to get favorable thick film copper conductor, hybrid microcircuit industry utilizes majorly three kinds of firing atmosphere, such as nitrogen atmosphere, reactive atmosphere and air atmosphere. The processes and the three atmospheres for firing thick film copper conductor were extensively reviewed in this article.

  • Many vehicles have significantly under-inflated tires, primarily because drivers infrequently check their vehicles' tire pressure. When a tire is used while significantly under-inflated, its sidewalls flex more and the tire temperature increases, increasing stress and the risk of failure. In this study we evaluated tire safety and economical efficiency at various inflation pressure. For tire safety we performed FMVSS indoor durability test, measurement of rolling tire temperature, braking performance at dry/wet road condition, and rolling resistance test for economical efficiency. Results show that low pressure decreases tire durability of both speed-increase condition and load-increase condition. Heat temperature of rolling tire increases as pressure decreases and significantly under-inflated tires cause increase of vehicle's stopping distance at wet road condition. Also Under-inflation increases the rolling resistance of a tire and, correspondingly, decreases vehicle's fuel economy.

  • A silicon microaccelerometer is designed and fabricated using silicon epitaxial layers for automotive electronic airbag applications. A cantilever structure is chosen for high sensitivity and piezoresistive detection method is adopted for circuit simplicity and low cost. An optimum design is used to find optimum microstructure sizes for maximum sensitivity subject to performance requirements and design constraints on natural frequency, damping ratio, maximum allowable stress and microfabrication limitations. The microaccelerometer is fabricated by micromachining processing steps, composed of material-selective and orientation-dependent chemical etching techniques. Fabricated prototype shows a sensitivity of 88.6$\mu\textrm{V}$/g within a resonant frequency of 1.75KHz. Estimated performance of the microaccelerometer is compared with measured one. Discrepancy between the theoretical values and the experimental values is discussed together with possible sources of the errors.

  • Sputtering 방법을 통해 Si기판 위에 Ti와 TiN박막을 증착하고 저압 반응관내에서 Cu*hfac)(TMVS)를 precursor로 사용 MOCVD Cu박막을 증착하여 Cu/TiN/Ti/Si구조의 다층박막을 제조하였고 이에 대한 열처리 방식 및 분위기 변화 등을 통해 열처리 조건에 따른 Cu 박막의 특성 변화에 대해 조사하였다. 열처리 방식으로는 Cu박막을 형성한 후 공기 중에 노출이 없이 바로 열처리하여 Cu산화물 형성을 억제할 수 있는 in-situ열처리 방식이 유리하고, 열처리 분위기로는 Cu 박막의 표면이나 결정립계 내에 존재하는 Cu 산화물을 환원시켜 줄 수 있는 H$_{2}$(10%)/Ar분위기가 표면평탄화, 결정립 크기 증가 및 비저항 감소측면에서 우수한 특성의 Cu박막을 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 최근 설계 및 시공되고 있는 국내 초고층 주거복합건물들의 유형과 구조설계내용들을 재점검하고 더 안전하고 경제적인 초고층 주거복합건물을 설계하기 위한 향후 과제로서 고강도 콘크리트 사용의 범용화와 구조적으로 유리한 기둥 배치계획과 횡력저항 요소로서의 Tubular 구조 및 Flat slab 등가골조 적용 등을 추가로 제시하며 또한 P.O.E의 구조적 측면에서의 도입자 인건비상승 및 후분양제도실시로 인한 공기단축등을 대비하는 철골조 아파트에 대한 지속적 상세연구가 필요하다고 판단된다. 또한 기둥의 부등축소문제, 내구성증대 및 거주성 향상문제 등도 관련 전문가들과 계속적 연구와 혐의가 필요한 것으로 생각된다.

Fan Noise Prediction Method of Air Cooling System (공기 냉각 시스템의 홴 소음 예측 기법)

  • Fan noise prediction method is presented for air conditioning, automobile and electronic cooling system applications where fan acts as an internal equipment having very complicated flow interaction with other various system components. The internal flow paths and distribution in the fan-applied systems such as computer or air conditioner are analyzed by using the FNM(flow network modeling). Fan noise prediction method comprises two models for the discrete frequency noise due to rotating steady aerodynamic lift and blade interaction and for the broadband noise due to turbulent boundary layer and wake vortex shedding. Based on the fan operation point predicted from the FNM analysis results and fan design parameters, the present far noise model predicts overall sound pressure level and spectrum. The predictions for the flow distribution, the fan operation and the noise level in air cooling system by the present method are well agreed with 3-D CFD and actual noise test results.

Micro-Fabrication and Thermal Characteristics of a Thermal Mass Air Flow Sensor for Real-time Applications (고응답 열식 질량공기유량센서의 제작 및 열거동 특성)

  • A thermal mass air flow sensor (MAFS), which consists of a micro-heater and thermo-resistive sensors on the silicon-nitride ($Si_3N_4$) thin membrane structure, is micro-fabricated by MEMS processes. Two thermo-resistive temperature sensors are located at $100{\mu}m$ upstream and downstream from the micro-heater respectively. The thermal characteristics are measured to find the best measurement indicator. The micro-heater is operated under constant power condition, and four flow indicators are investigated. The normalized temperature indicator shows good physical meaning and is easy to use in practice. It is found that the configurations and heating power of thermal-resistive elements are the dominant factors to determine the range of the flow measurement in the MAFS with higher sensitivity and accuracy.

Effect of Sintering Atmosphere on the Electrical Characteristics of the Grain Boundaries of $SrTiO_3$Ceramics Prepared from Semiconducting Calcined-powders (반도성 하소분말을 이용하여 제조된 $SrTiO_3$소결체의 소결 분위기에 따른 입계 전기적 특성)

  • 140$0^{\circ}C$ 환원 분위기(질소-수소) 조건에서 열처리하여 반도성 SrTiO$_3$하소분말을 제조하였다. 하소분말을 이용하여 135$0^{\circ}C$에서 2시간동안 상압 소결하여 소결체를 제조하였으며, 이때 소결 분위기에 따른 소결체 입계의 전기적 특성을 고찰하였다. 이들 소결체는 전형적인 바리스터 특성을 나타내었으며, 특히 소결 분위기를 질소-수소로부터 공기로 변화시킴에 따라서 소결체의 문턱 전압, 입계 비저항 그리고 입계 전위 장벽은 430V/cm, 10MΩ.cm 그리고 2.0$\times$$10^{-3}$eV로부터 1000V/cm 이상, 240 MΩ.m 그리고 1.1eV로 변하였다.
