A Study on Experience of Parents Who Moved to Rural Village for Their Children's Education (전원마을 이주 학부모의 자녀교육 경험에 대한 연구)

  • We extracted the meaning of educational experience of the parents who moved to rural village for their children's education. While moving to the cities for the childen's education is general trend, moving to the rural village for the children's education is peculiar phenomenon. For the study, in-depth interviews were conducted with six parents who moved to rural village, and the statements were analyzed by the phenomenological analysis method of Colaizzi. As a result, thirty themes, eight theme clusters, and three meaning categories were extracted. Three categories which characterize the experience of parents who moved to rural village for their children are 'longing for nature-friendly life in rural area', 'positive experience of communication and empathy with neighbors', and 'children's happiness-centered education'. Eight theme clusters are 'dislike confined environment of an apartment', 'positive experience of childhood in the countryside', 'value direct and indirect experiences of variety', 'free and stimulating environment of countryside', 'experience of communicating and empathizing with neighbors','regret private education caused by parents' greed', 'value child centered education', 'yearn for the self-directed learning around character and art-physical abilities'. Based on the result, implications were discussed and follow-up studies were suggested.

Neural Bases of Empathy in Competitive vs. non-Competitive situation (경쟁과 비경쟁 상황에서 공감의 신경학적 기제)

  • This fMRI study is aim to investigate effects of competitive environment in cognitive empathic process in human brain. Empathy is known as a crucial factor for human's adaptive behavior in aspects of social cognition and it is almost automatic process, on the other hand competitive situation is psychologically devastated environment to win someone for getting rewards. We hypnotized that reading and understanding of other person's mind are a specific characteristic related to survival evolutionarily, however competition would have an effect on the empathic cognitive process because of mechanisms of competition. To manipulate the competitive atmosphere, one researcher took a role of competitor against participants and they were instructed to get monetary rewards when their performance was better than a competitor. 21 participants(9 males and 12 females) performed to judge the emotional valence of the empathic task consisted of illustrated images with various situation could be experienced in real world as on $1^{st}$ person perspective in both competitive and non-competitive condition, and did same performance with objects stimulus in control condition. In order to examine the competition effects on empathic process,, hemodynamic response were obtained during fMRI session and the imaging data were analyzed to identify brain regions where responses to each condition across the two consecutive runs. Participants' reaction time in competitive condition was faster statistically significant than non-competitive one. Activation for competitive condition increased in the following areas: ACC, mPFC, SMG, thalamus extended caudate and Nacc, parahippocampal gyrus, and for non-competitive condition increased paracingulate gyrus, temporal pole, vmPFC, superior occipital gyrus. As a result of regression analysis using empathic scores as covariance, the rSMG, IFG, fusiform gyrus, thalamus, putamen were correlated with higher empathic levels, and TPJ were correlated with lower empathic scores. We suggest that these observations could mean competitive environment have an effect on neural base of cognitive empathic process.

The Effect of Empathy and Communication Skills of Nursing Students who took Simulation Class on the Problem-Solving Skills (시뮬레이션 수업을 받은 간호대학생의 공감능력과 의사소통능력이 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of empathy and communication skills on nursing problem-solving skills of nursing students who received simulation classes. The subjects of this study were composed of 234 students in the 3rd and 4th grades who already took simulation classes. The data was collected from April 26th to May 10th, 2021. The data was analyzed with the SPSS WIN 25.0 program. Descriptive statistics and mean differences were analyzed using an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. As a result, the average points of empathy skills were 5.29 out of 7, communication skills were 3.30 out of 5, and problem-solving skills were 3.51 out of 5. Empathy skills and communication skills were positively correlated with problem-solving skills. The predicting factors on problem-solving skills were empathy and communication skills, on-campus practice period, and gender in order. The explanatory power of these factors was 64.6%. In conclusion, in order to improve the problem-solving ability of nursing students, a strategy is needed to enhance empathy and communication skills through continuous simulation classes.

The Effect of Empathy on Anxiety and Depression in COVID-19 Disaster : through Risk Perception and Indirect Trauma (코로나19 재난 상황에서 공감이 불안과 우울에 미치는 영향 : 위험지각과 간접외상을 통하여)

  • It has now been more than a year since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea, which has claimed thousands of lives and changed every aspect of life. The corona pandemic not only caused physical damages but also psychological one which is a collective social stress phenomenon often termed as 'corona blue'. The purpose of this study is to examine how empathy affects anxiety and depression through risk perception and indirect trauma, which are psychological variables related to the corona pandemic as a disaster. The survey data from 214 people were analyzed with a structural equation modelling. The results shows that 53.3 % of the participants experienced anxiety and 35.7% suffered from depression, which were about 6 times higher than ones from the 2019 government data. Affective empathy had a significant effect on risk perception, and cognitive empathy had a significant effect on indirect trauma. Risk perception and indirect trauma both had a significant effect on anxiety, and anxiety had a significant impact on depression. Only cognitive empathy had a significant indirect effect on anxiety and depression. This study provides an important insight into understanding a social phenomenon of 'corona blue' from a empathic perspective.

A Study on Success Factors of Online Communities from the Perspective of Service Quality: Based on SERVQUAL Model (서비스 품질 관점에서 본 온라인 커뮤니티의 성공 요인에 관한 연구: SERVQUAL을 중심으로)

  • Importance of online community has been increased and also online community has been used as an important marketing tool. The purposes of this study are to construct an instrument to evaluate service quality of online community service and have a further discussion of the relationship between service quality dimensions, customer satisfaction, intention to move. According to our findings, among the determinants of service quality, empathy strongly influences both of consumer satisfaction and intention to move. The determinants of service quality which positively influences consumer satisfaction are empathy, tangibles and responsiveness. Empathy and assurance negatively influence intention to move. This means that the service quality of online community affects customer retention. Also, understanding and reflecting customer needs are more important.

Quality Attributes of Archival Information Service affecting User Satisfaction (이용자 만족도에 영향을 주는 기록정보서비스 품질 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of the present study is to investigate the quality attributes of archival information service affecting user satisfaction. The independent variables in this study were equality, tangibles(appearance), convenience, responsiveness, empathy. And the dependent variable was a user satisfaction. The survey was conducted by online and offline for 78 people that used the archival information service. To solve the research question, we used the descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis. As a correlation analysis result, the quality attributes of archival information service had positive correlation with a user satisfaction. And as a multiple regression analysis result, tangibles(appearance) had a significant effect, followed by empathy and convenience. For improving on quality of archival information service, it is required that improving facilities, keeping environment clean, enhancing empathy ability, updating the information of archive, reforming search tools.

  • 최근 세계경제의 중장기적 불황과 성장률의 하락을 경험하고 있는 가운데, 새로운 상품이나 서비스를 탄생시키고 생산방식의 변화와 혁신을 통해 경제적 효율성을 높이는 창업에의 관심이 날로 높아지고 있다. 이러한 분위기에서 중소기업 및 소상공인의 창업은 한 국가경제에 미치는 영향이 매우 크다는 것을 모두 공감하고 있으며, 이러한 중소기업 및 소상공인들이 생계형 창업을 넘어 기업의 성과를 높일 수 있도록 하기 위한 다양한 노력들이 지속되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적 역시 창업가들의 경험적 특성과 사업성과간의 상관관계를 조사하여 중소기업들의 성과에 미치는 영향변수를 분석 하는데 있다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 창업자의 개인적인 특성 중 사업성공에 필요한 경험적 특성을 중점적으로 고려하여 연구를 진행하였다. 창업자가 사업성공을 위해 가져야 할 특성에는 창업자의 배경적 특성(학력, 창업관련 강좌 수강, 가족이나 지인의 주변창업, 창업자의 과거 창업경험 등) 창업자의 심리적 특성(성취욕구, 위험감수성향, 모호함에 대한 인내력), 창업자의 관리적 역량(창업자의 관리적 능력, 기업가적 능력, 기술적-기능적 능력) 창업자의 전략적 성향(제품-서비스 혁신 차별화 전략 성향, 마케팅 차별화 전략 성향, 비용 우위 전략 성향)이 있다. 이러한 다양한 변수들 중 창업가의 배경적 특성에 속하고 있는 개인의 경험적 특성이 사업성과에 미치는 영향을 중점적으로 연구를 진행하였다.

Web Analytics 서비스의 지속적 이용의도에 관한 연구

  • 급속히 성장하고 있는 Web Analytics 서비스는 기본적으로 인터넷 상에서 기업간의 거래를 전제로 하며 서비스를 이용하는 고객사의 입장에서는 웹분석 분야 정보시스템 아웃소싱의 한 형태이다. 본 연구는 이러한 거래적 특징들을 바탕으로 경쟁이 치열해지고 있는 Web analytics 서비스 산업에서 고객사의 지속적 이용의도와 이에 영향을 주는 요인들 간의 관계를 실증연구를 통하여 살펴보았다. 연구결과 첫째, 서비스를 이용하는 고객회사들의 지속적 이용의 도는 동기적 요인인 만족도와 이탈억제 요인인 의존도가 동시에 고려됨을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, Web Analytics 서비스 산업에서 고객사의 만족도에 영향을 주는 품질 요인으로는 정보품질만이 통계적으로 유의하였다. 셋째, 거래상대방과의 관계에서 이탈이 고려될 때 이탈을 억제하는 역할을 수행하는 의존도 에 영향을 주는 요인으로는 관계가치, 전환비용, 서비스 이용기간이 의미 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 동기적 측면에서는 전환경험의 유무에 따라 시스템 품질과 공감성이 만족도에 미치는 영향관계가 다르게 나타났고, 이탈억제 측면에서는 전환경험의 유무에 따라 전환비용이 의존도에 미치는 영향관계에서 차이가 있었다.

Impact of Communication Competence and Empathy Abilities on Interpersonal Relationship Abilities among Dental Hygiene Students (일부 치위생 전공 대학생의 의사소통능력과 공감능력이 대인관계능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the communication competence and empathy abilities of dental hygiene students on their interpersonal relationship abilities. The subjects in this study were 578 students who majored in dental hygiene at five randomly selected colleges. Out of the colleges, three were located in North Chungcheong province, and one was located in the city of Daejeon. The other one was located in South Gyeongsang province. Data were gathered using structured questionnaires from April 1 to May 7, 2013. The major findings of the study were as follows: 1. The respondents got a mean of $3.23{\pm}0.49$, $85.80{\pm}10.12$ and $83.27{\pm}8.37$ in interpersonal relationship abilities, communication competence and empathy abilities respectively. 2. As for communication competence, empathy abilities and interpersonal relationship abilities by general characteristics, there were statistically significant differences according to age, academic year, clinical practice experience and satisfaction with major. 3. The relationship of communication competence and empathy abilities to interpersonal relationship abilities was analyzed, and interpersonal relationship abilities were found to have a strong significant positive correlation to communication competence, empathy abilities and the subfactors of the two. 4. As a result of analyzing which variables affected interpersonal relationship abilities, it's found that interpersonal relationship abilities were under the influence of age, clinical practice experience, communication competence, empathy abilities. These variables made a 57.2% prediction of interpersonal relationship abilities. The above-mentioned findings suggest that communication competence and empathy abilities exerted an influence on interpersonal relationship abilities. Therefore curriculums and educational programs should be developed in consideration of these variables to ensure the stable college lives and successful relationship building of dental hygiene students who are on the way to adulthood and will serve as health care personnels in the future.

Effect of the Elderly-related Experience of College Students on Ageism (대학생들의 노인 관련 경험이 노인 차별주의에 미치는 영향)

  • This study conducted a survey to investigate the effect of the elderly-related experience on ageism in college students in Busan and Ulsan area. The total score of ageism was lower in the students with the experience in living with the elderly (p<.001), taking elderly-related classes (p<.01), and volunteering for the elderly. The effect of the experience in the elderly on the emotional avoidance was significant in the students with the experience in living with the elderly (p<0.001), volunteering for the elderly(p<0.01), and taking elderly-related classes (p<0.05). The effect on ageism was significant in the students with the experience in living with the elderly (p<0.001), volunteering for the elderly (p<0.01), and taking elderly-related classes (p<0.05). Therefore, taking elderly-related classes and volunteering for elderly to build social, physical, and emotional empathy will have a positive effect on the attitudes and the point of view on the elderly.
