  • In order to improve complicated construction and complex control which are didvantage of optimal PWM technique aimed at harmonic elimination method, this paper presented MRA(Mode1 Reference Adaptive) PWM technique that gating signal of inverter is generated by comparing the reference signal with the induced feedback signal at the reference model of load. Design of controller is composed of microprocessor and analog circuit. MRA PWM technique used in the paper is able to compensate the degradation of voltage efficiency to be generated by the ratio of the output voltage to the DC supply voltage being low for using conventional sinusoidal PWM technique. When the trapezoidal signal is employed as the reference signal. the low order harmonics of line current can be reduced and the switching pattern is made by on-line computation using comparatively simple numerical analysis.

  • A transform-space index indexes objects represented as points in the transform space An advantage of a transform-space index is that optimization of join algorithms using these indexes becomes relatively simple. However, the disadvantage is that these algorithms cannot be applied to original-space indexes such as the R-tree. As a way of overcoming this disadvantages, the authors earlier proposed the transform-space view join algorithm that joins two original- space indexes in the transform space through the notion of the transform-space view. A transform-space view is a virtual transform-space index that allows us to perform join in the transform space using original-space indexes. In a transform-space view join algorithm, the order of accessing disk pages -for which various space filling curves could be used -makes a significant impact on the performance of joins. In this paper, we Propose a new space filling curve called the adaptive row major order (ARM order). The ARM order adaptively controls the order of accessing pages and significantly reduces the one-pass buffer size (the minimum buffer size required for guaranteeing one disk access per page) and the number of disk accesses for a given buffer size. Through analysis and experiments, we verify the excellence of the ARM order when used with the transform-space view join. The transform-space view join with the ARM order always outperforms existing ones in terms of both measures used: the one-pass buffer size and the number of disk accesses for a given buffer size. Compared to other conventional space filling curves used with the transform-space view join, it reduces the one-pass buffer size by up to 21.3 times and the number of disk accesses by up to $74.6\%$. In addition, compared to existing spatial join algorithms that use R-trees in the original space, it reduces the one-pass buffer size by up to 15.7 times and the number of disk accesses by up to $65.3\%$.

  • In this paper an algorithm that represents shape sequences with moving frames parallel along the sequences are developed. According to Levi-Civita connection, it is not easy to measure the variation of the vector fields on non-Euclidean spaces without tools to parallel transport them. Thus, parallel transport of the vector fields along the shape sequences is implemented using the theories of principal frame bundle and analyzed via extensive simulation.

  • The prediction performance of design fire curves was evaluated using a Fire dynamics simulator (FDS) for a solid fuel fire in a building space by comparing the results with experimental data. EDC 2-step mixing controlled combustion model was used in the FDS simulations and the previously suggested 2-stage design fire (TDF), Quadratic and Exponential design fire curves were used as the FDS inputs. The simulation results showed that smoke propagation in the building space was significantly affected by the design fire curves. The predictions of simulations using design fire curves for the experimental temperatures in the building space were reasonable, but the TDF was found to be the most acceptable for predicting temperature. The predictions with each design fire curve of species concentrations showed insufficient agreement with the experiments. This suggests that the combustion model used in this study was not optimized for the simulation of a solid fuel fire, and additional studies will be needed to examine the combustion model on the FDS prediction of solid fires.

  • The differential quadrature method (DQM) for a system of coupled differential equations governing the elastic stability of thin-walled curved members is presented, and is applied to computation of the eigenvalues of out-of-plane buckling of curved beams subjected to uniformly distributed radial loads including a warping contribution. Critical loads with warping, which were found to be significant, are calculated for a single-span wide-flange beam with various end conditions, opening angles, and stiffness parameters. The results are compared with the exact methods available. New results are given for the case of both ends clamped and clamped-simply supported ends without comparison since no data are available The differential quadrature method gives good accuracy and stability compared with previous theoretical results.

  • In this study, the prediction performance of design fire curves (DF) was evaluated for gas fires in a compartment by using CFAST. The CFAST simulations adopted the 2-stage DF suggested by the previous study and the Quadratic and Exponential DF suggested by Ingason. It was found by comparing the simulation and experimental results that the overall prediction performance of the design fire cures for the spatially-averaged temperature and concentrations of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ was, from the most reasonable to the most inaccurate, 2-stage DF > Quadratic DF > Exponential DF. The CFAST simulation could not predict for the difference in the spatially-averaged temperature and concentrations of $O_2$ and $CO_2$ at door and inner side locations in a compartment. The CFAST simulations also showed a limitation in the prediction of the spatially-averaged temperature at lower layer and the concentration of CO.

  • Reservoir area and reservoir capacity must be evaluated for reservoir management such a water supply, water-purity control and so on. In this paper, the reservoir area and reservoir capacity according to the level of storage range of water(149~156 El.m) could be calculated by using TIN data model of study area, Gyoyeon reservoir, TIN data model was made of DSM which was created by using UAV and GCP survey. From the results of applying the various functions to reservoir area and capacity, reservoir area and reservoir capacity according to the level of storage range of water showed the highest coefficient of determination of 0.97 in fourth-order polynomial, and 0.99 in second-order polynomial, respectively. Thus, it could be expected the efficient reservoir management by estimating reservoir area and capacity curve equation through UAV photogrammetry.

  • In the shallow tunnel, the surrounding ground could be loosened and deformed, which could be the cause of stress change in the ground. Terzaghi has clarified the development of a ground arching induced by the deformation of a tunnel crown in the trap door tests. However, he considered only the case in which that the tunnel crown deformed uniformly. He did not consider the effect of deformation shapes. Therefore, the relation between the shape of the ground relaxation above the tunnel crown and the deformation shape of the tunnel crown is not clear yet. In this study, model tests were performed for the three types of the tunnel crown, such as uniform, concave and convex shapes. As results, it was found that the vertical load would be transferred in various types depending on the deformation shapes of the tunnel crown.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the landslide prediction models quantitatively using prediction rate curve. A case study from the Jangheung area was used to illustrate the methodologies. The landslide locations were detected from remote sensing data and field survey, and geospatial information related to landslide occurrences were built as a spatial database in GIS. As prediction models, joint conditional probability model and certainty factor model were applied. For cross-validation approach, landslide locations were partitioned into two groups randomly. One group was used to construct prediction models, and the other group was used to validate prediction results. From the cross-validation analysis, it is possible to compare two models to each other in this study area. It is expected that these approaches will be used effectively to compare other prediction models and to analyze the causal factors in prediction models.

  • A weighted linear combination of seismic fragility models previously developed for cut-and-cover railway tunnels was presented and the appropriateness of the combined model was evaluated. The seismic fragility function is expressed in the form of a cumulative probability function of the lognormal distribution based on the peak ground acceleration. The model uncertainty can be reduced by combining models independently developed. Equal weight is applied to four models. The new seismic fragility function was developed for each damage level by determining the median and standard deviation, which are model metrics. Comparing fragility curves developed for other bored tunnels, cut-and-cover tunnels for high-speed railway system have a similar level of fragility. We postulated that this is due to the high seismic design standard for high-speed railway tunnel.
