A 123.2 mm TL female of Iksookimia longicorpa with a laminar circularis at the base of its pectoral fin was collected in the Hoeya River, Korea, on May 5, 2008. The specimen had full-grown ovaries like those of normal females. Its pectoral fins were larger than those of normal females, but was smaller than those of males. The laminar circularis of the pectoral fin base was more similar to normal males in its shape but was less developed. The ovaries in the individual had about 3,148 mature eggs, with egg sizes approximately $1.26{\pm}0.11mm$.

The family Cobitidae of Korea was reviewed as 16 species in 5 genera with the key to species for the identification by the external features. The three genera of Iksookimia, Koreocobitis, and Kichulchoia erected from the genus Cobitis were reclassified based on the presence or absence of Gambetta’s zones on the body sides, their body pigmentation, the shape of lamina circularis in males, the number of unbranched anal fin rays, and some molecular phylogenetic data. By the results of these reexamination, the generic names of the three species were changed as Cobitis choii, Iksookimia pacifica, and Kichulchoia mutifasciata. It was remarked biogeographically that most species of genera Cobitis, Iksookimia, Koreocobitis, and Kichulchoia show the disjunct distributions with bottom-dwelling preferences as endemic to Korean peninsular. Three species of Cobitis choii, Kichulchoia brevifasciata, and Koreocobitis naktongensis are considered to be critically endangered according to the severe habitat destruction and the alteration of river topography.
A fish, collected from the Tongbok stream, secondary tributary of the Somjin River system, appeared to be a hybrid between Cobitis longicorpus and Misgurunus anguilicaudatus. The morphological features of this specimen have suborbital spine and distinctive black small spots at the back of its opecleula characterized by C. longicorpus. However, it has totally different body color patterns on the sides of body from the C. longicorpus and The structure of lami-na circularis was less distinctive than that of C. longicorpus. Body measurements of the specimen were similar to the C. longicorpus with the exceptions as caudal peduncle depth(CPD), caudal peduncle length(CPL), predorsal length and CPD/CPL. CPD/CPL were sightly higher and longer than that of the C. longicorpus, and predorsal length was more similar to the M. anguilicaudatus than the C. longicorpus. CPD/CPL value was intermediate between the two parental species. This results indicate that the specimen used in this study is a hybrid between Cobitis longicorpus and Misgurunus anguilicaudatus.
The age and spawning characteristics of Iksookimia pacifica were investigated in this study to provide baseline data for its ecological characteristics in the Bukcheon (stream), Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea from January to December, 2013. Age groups of I. pacifica (female) estimated by the frequency distribution of total length in the spawning season indicated that the 30~49 mm group is 1 year old, the 50~74 mm group is 2 years old, the 75~99 mm group is 3 years old, the 100~124 mm group is 4 years old, and the 130~160 mm group is $5{\leq}$years old. The sex ratio (♂/♀) was 0.63, and females were 30~60 mm larger than males. The lamina circularis at the base of pectoral fins in males as a secondary sexual character was created at the 13th month after hatching. The spawning season according to the gonadosomatic index (GSI) was July to August (main spawning season in July) with water temperatures of $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$. The average number of eggs was $2,503{\pm}1,337$ with a diameter of $1.11{\pm}0.04mm$ in mature eggs.
Spinous loaches widely distributed in Korea, are of many color pattern types, but interestingly the crossband B and C-types of these coaches are collected only in the two rivers, the Yeongsan River and the Seomjin River, flowing through the south-western part of Korea. These two types have not only different color pattern, but also different geographical distribution: the B-type is found in the Yeongsan River and the C-typs, in the Seomjin River. But the both types have four common distinctive features, which easily distinguish them from other already known species of this genus: the B and C-types have the similar total length distribution, the same structure of lamina circularis and scales, and the black spots at the back of their opercula. These peculiarities may be explained by studing the history of these two rivers. The author considers that they are once rivers of the same origin located around the Noryeong and the Sobaeg Mountains, and then were eventually separated from each other as the water level or the crust of Korea peninsula changed. Thus, these two types, B and C, of spinous loaches should have been the same species living in the same river, but in the course of time, these two types have taken different color patterns since the separation of two rivers thus making them impossible to cross between these two populations.
Growth and spawning ecology of Cobitis lutheri (Teleoste: Cobitidae) were investigated in the Samcheon Stream, Mangyeong River, Jeollabuk-do, Korea from 2005 to 2006. Age group of C. lutheri estimated from the total length indicated that the 40 ~ 60 mm group is 1 year old, the 60 ~ 80 mm group is 2 years old, and the 80 ~ 110mm group is 3 ${\leq}$ years old. The sex ratio (Male/Female) was 0.78, and the female was 20 ~ 30 mm larger than the male. Lamina circularis at the base of pectoral fins in the males as a secondary sexual character was created 12 months after hatching. A change of lateral coloration of males was observed from April to September. The spawning season was early to middle July with water temperatures of $24{\sim}26^{\circ}C$. The average number of eggs was $1,127{\pm}453$ with the egg diameter of $1.09{\pm}0.02$ mm.
The Nakdong nose loach, Koreocobitis naktongensis is an endangered freshwater fish endemic to Korea. The spawning behaviour of the K. naktongensis was observed after treating Ovaprim in laboratory aquarium from 20~27 April 2010. The behavioral patterns were categorized into three stages of pre-spawning, spawning and post-spawning behaviors. Before spawning K. naktongensis usually repeated taking a rest and swimming. On average, initial spawning activity started 11 to 12 hours later after injection with Ovaprim. During the spawning period, the number of spawning acts ranged from 1 to 18. The spawning ratio of female to male was 1 : 1. The male embraced the back of the female's dorsal fin with his lamina circularis. It looked like a complete circle at that time. After spawning, parental care was not observed. Individuals not participating in spawning have been observed to feed on some of the fertilized eggs.
