  • Osteochondroma is the most common benign bone tumor. The majority of osteochondromas (85%) present as solitary, nonhereditary lesions. In general, osteochondroma has no symptoms, however, facial asymmetry, malocclusion, crossbite and mouth opening can be occurred in case of temporomandibular joint involved. Radiologic analyses are indispensable element to diagnose osteochondroma and pathogenetic analysis showed that hereditary multiple osteochondromas are caused by mutations in either of two genes: exostosis(multiple)-1 (EXT1), which is located on chromosome 8q24.11 - q24.13 or exostosis(multiple)-2 (EXT2), which is located on chromosome 11p11 - 12. Recently, reduced mRNA of EXT1 was described in nonhereditary osteochondromas. The treatment of choice for osteochondroma is surgical unless the skeleton is still immature. Surgery associated with orthodontic treatment can be a valid approach to minimize facial asymmetry and malocclusion in case of temporomandibular with osteochondroma.

  • Osteochondroma is a common benign bone tumor, but relatively rare in the spine. Spinal osteochondroma originates mainly from the posterior column and sometimes invades the spinal canal causing cord compression and myelopathy. A 36-year-old man was admitted to the authors' institution with a two-year history of neck pain. A radiology examination revealed osteochondroma, arising from the left superior articular process of the T1 vertebra with significant central canal narrowing. Most cases of the spinal osteochondroma originate in the cervical vertebra, but there are few reports of an origin of the cervicothoracic junction. This paper reports a case of osteochondroma at the cervicothoracic junction with a review of the relevant literature.

  • Conventional osteochondroma is common bone lesion usually originated near the end of a long bone. But intra-articular osteochondromas are very rare and have been reported less than a dozen cases. The authors experienced two cases of intra-articular osteochondroma of the knee joint. Histology as well as gross finding were consistent with osteochondroma. The tumor was excised surgically, and symptoms were relieved.

  • Osteochodromas are the most common benign osseous neoplasm, covered by a distinct hyaline cartilage cap, originating from the physis. They involve typically metaphyseal or metadiaphyseal region of a long bone, while they involve the foot rarely. In the foot, the osteochondromas mostly occur in short tubular bones such as metatarsal bones and phalanges. They are seldom found in calcaneus. We report a rare case of osteochondroma involving calcaneus.

  • Osteochondromas typically arise from the metaphyseal ends of long bones. Extraskeletal paraarticular osteochondromas are unusual osteocartilaginous lesions that arise in the soft tissue adjacent to a joint with no bony continuity. We present a case of pathologically proven extraskeletal paraarticular synovial osteochondroma of the knee observed in 42-year-old female with a literature review.

  • In benign exophytic lesion in TMJ such as osteoma, chondroma, osteochondroma, synovial chondromatosis etc, symptom such as pain, mouth opening limitation, Most case of condylar exophytic lesion manifest with facial asymmetry, malocclusion, mandibular midline deviation. An osteochondroma and synovial chondromatosis are most commom benign condylar tumor. However this tumor is most frequently found on long bone and flat bone and is unusual on the skull. We report cases of osteochondroma, synovial chondromatosis of TMJ and review literatures.

  • There are some malignant changes in multiple osteochondroma to chondrosarcoma, but secondary chondrosarcomas rarely develop in 1~2% of patients with solitary osteochondromas. Chondrosarcomas of the bones of hands and feet are rare, in comparison with their occurrence at other sites. The calcaneus was most commonly involved in the feet, but malignant transformation of solitary osteochondroma of the calcaneum to chondrosarcoma is extremely rare. We report one case of solitary calcaneal mass that grows slowly without pain from 6 years ago. He was 38 aged old man and surgical excision of the mass revealed chondrosarcoma arising from osteochondroma of the calcaneum.

  • Osteochondroma is a hyperplasic bony lesion caused by subperiosteal displacement of physeal cartilages, and the most common benign bone tumor. Osteochondromas rarely cause vascular complications, but when encountered, acute ischemia, phlebitis, and arterial puncture are the most common. They are caused by the mass effect or by the sharp end of the tumor. Deep vein thrombosis may be caused by impaired venous blood flow or a hypercoagulable blood state, but sometimes no predisposing cause can be found. We experienced a patient with deep vein thrombosis caused by the mass effect of an asymptomatic osteochondroma, and treated him successfully by excising the osteochondroma and performing a saphenous vein graft after resecting obstructed vein.

  • Osteochondromadevelop most commonly at distal femur, proximal humerus and proximal tibia, but the rib osteochondroma was reported less commonly. In this report, scapular snapping syndrome complicated by adventitious bursa and soft tissue pseudotumor surrounding the osteochondroma of the $6^{th}$ rib body was treated successfully by surgical excision of them. We report this rare case with reviewing the relevant literature.

  • The osteochondroma is the most common benign bone tumor which arise in the metaphyseal or metaphysiodiaphyseal portion of long bone. Osteochondroma is rare in hand and extremely rare in the intraarticular location of the hand. We report a case of intraarticular osteochondroma which occurred at the third metacarpal head of the hand in a 53 year old female patient. The size of the excised mass was $10{\times}8{\times}5$ mm with definite cartilage cap.
