Development and Verication of a Robot Off-line Programming System for Die Polishing Process (금형 연마작업을 위한 로봇 오프라인 프로그래밍 시스템의 개발 및 적용)

  • 본 논문은 금형의 마무리 연마 작업을 로봇을 이용하여 자동화하기 위한 오프라인 프로그래밍 시스템개발을 그 내용으로 하고있다. 3차원 자유곡면 형상을 갖는 금형을 연마하기 위한 로봇 작업 경로를 효율적으로 생성하기 위해서는 기존의 교시 방법이 아닌 CAD시스템과 연계된 시뮬레이션 방식의 자동 경로 생성 방법이 요구된다. 본 연구에서 개발된 금형 연마 작업을 위한 오프라인 프로그래밍 시스템은 연마 작업 시뮬레이션을 위한 기하학적 모델링 기능, 로봇의 작업 공간을 고려한 작업장 배치 기능, 연마 로봇의 효율적인 기구학 해, 3차원 그래픽 시뮬레이션, 3차원 물체간의 충돌 검사 기능 및 유기적인 관계형 데이타 베이스 기능 등으로 구성된다. 본 시스템의 시뮬레이션 결과를 로봇의 위치 보정 과정을 거쳐 로봇 작업 프로그램 으로 변환함으로써 최종적으로 실제 연마 작업이 가능한, 정확하고 안전한 로봇 프로그램을 생성하였다.

3-Dimensional Profile Measurement of Free-Formed Surfaces by Slit Beam Scanning Topography (슬릿광 주사방법에 의한 자유곡면의 삼차원형상 측정)

  • An optical method of slit beam scanning topography is presented for the 3-dimensional profile measurement of free-formed surfaces. A slit beam of laser is projected in a scanning mode and its illuminated trajectory on the object is captured by using a CCD camera. The 3-dimensional coordinates of the trajectory is then computed by using the given geometry between the slit beam and the camera, so that the whole surface profile of the object can be obtained in a successive manner. Detailed optical principles are described with special emphasis to lateral are discussed to demonstrate the measuring performances of the slit beam scanning topography proposed in this study.

Efficient generation of reflection lines to evaluate car body surfaces (자동차 외형설계곡면의 검사를 위한 효율적인 반사선의 생성)

  • In the process of car body design, various surfaces are generated from the given boundary curves. Depending upon the method of the surface generation and the quality of the boundary curves provided, the resulting surfaces may have global or local irregularities in many cases. Thus it would be necessary for the designer to evaluate the surface quality and to modify the surface or to use the different generation method based on the evaluation results. This capability is very important because the defect of the surface quality detected in the production stage will require the rework of the dies and will cause a big loss in cost and time. A method of surface interrogation using reflection line is introduced. In this paper, We applied reflection mapping to generate reflection lines on the trimmed NURBS surface. Since reflection lines are obtained from reflection mapping that uses simple and physically acceptable mapping algorithm, they can be efficiently used to simulate the reflection test on the real part in the production line.

  • Shape changes of a workpiece in an Eulerian Finite Element analysis for the steady state. three-roll-stand shape rolling are modelled. Although an Eulerian analysis has many advantages for the steady state rolling problems, it necessitates an assumption about the unknown shape of the control volume. In almost all cases. the assumed control volume does not match the final shape and the control volume should be updated. This update can be accomplished by performing a free surface correction. The final shape of a material point, which has a spherical shape at the inlet, can be also predicted by integrating a deformation gradient along a stream line. Analyses of three-roll-stand shape rolling is in detail examined.

An Effective Auto-Focusing Method for Curved Panel Inspection System (곡면 패널 검사를 위한 효율적인 오토 포커싱 방법)

  • The curved panel is widely used for display of TVs and smart phones. This paper proposes a new auto-focusing method for curved panel inspection system. Since the distance between the camera and the panel varies with the curve position, the camera should change its focus at every inspection time. In order to reduce the focusing time, we propose an effective focusing method that considers the mathematical model of panel curve. The Lagrange polynomial equation is applied to modeling the panel curve. The foci of initial three points are used to get the curve equation, and the other foci are calculated automatically from the curve equation. The experiment result shows that the proposed method can reduce the focusing time.

  • This paper proposes a roughing path generation method fer machining impeller with 5-axis machining center. Traditional researches are focus on finishing for machining impeller. To achieve efficient machining, roughing method must be studied. The proposed method consists two steps : One is to select optimal tool size and tool attitude by dividing cutting area into two regions to reduce cutting time. The regions are automatically divided by character point on the geometry of impeller blade. After dividing, the tool of the optimal size is selected for each divided region. The other is avoidance of tool interference. Tool interference in cutting areas is avoided by checking the distance between tool axis vector and ruling line on blade surface or approximated plan between ruling line. Using this method, the cutting time is reduced efficiently.

A Study on the Development of Mobile Robot for Inspection of Hull Surface (선체 외부 검사용 모바일 로봇 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, development of mobile robot for the inspection of hull surface was mentioned. In the sea, it is difficult to proceed with the visual inspection of hull side and thus mobile robot for checking the status could be run with strap-on its surface. To do this, permanent magnet module to generate magnetic force between hull surface and mobile robot, and structure to minimize variance of the force under curvature circumstance were considered on the design. Based on the design, mobile robot with four NdFeB, four driving wheels and image aquisition module was applied. Load experiment to check the adhesive force, slip test during stop state and driving test to measure driving speed were executed. From the experiments 13 Kgf adhesive force was obtained and slip was not happened until 8 Kgf load on the inclined plate. Driving speed of mobile robot was measured at 0.82 m/s corresponding to 6.5 ampere. We confirmed the effectiveness of developed mobile robot by experiments to check its characteristics.

  • PVDF(poly vinylidene fluoride) and P(VDF-TrFE)(poly vinylidene fluoride-tetrafluoroethylene) are the typical piezoelectric polymers with unique properties. Even they are inferior to conventional piezoelectric ceramics PZT in electromechanical conversion efficiency and interior loss, though they are superior in receiving sensitivity and frequency bandwidth. Their acoustic impedances are relatively close to water or biological tissue and it is easier to make thin film than other piezoelectric materials. Futhermore, the film is so flexible that it is easy to attach on a complex surface. Those properties are suitable for the ultrasound transducers which are useful for medical and biological application, so that various types of polymer transducers have been developed. In this paper, several important considerations for design and fabrication of piezoelectric polymer transducers were described and their effect on the transducer performance were demonstrated through the KLM model analysis. Then, it was briefly reviewed about the structures of the polymer transducers developed for obtaining images as well as the characteristics of the images in several important medical and biological application fields.

  • Video image based technology is being used in various fields with continuous development. The demand for vision system technology that analyzes and discriminates image objects acquired through cameras is rapidly increasing. Image processing is one of the core technologies of vision systems, and is used for defect inspection in the semiconductor manufacturing field, object recognition inspection such as the number of tire surfaces and symbols. In addition, research into license plate recognition is ongoing, and it is necessary to recognize objects quickly and accurately. In this paper, propose a recognition model through the rotational alignment of objects after checking the angle value of the tilt of the object in the input video image for the recognition of inclined objects such as numbers or symbols marked on the surface. The proposed model can perform object recognition of the rotationally sorted image after extracting the object region and calculating the angle of the object based on the contour algorithm. The proposed model extracts the object region based on the contour algorithm, calculates the angle of the object, and then performs object recognition on the rotationally aligned image. In future research, it is necessary to study template matching through machine learning.

Determination of Sampling Points Based on Curvature distribution (곡률 기반의 측정점 결정 알고리즘 개발)

  • In this research, a novel sampling strategy for a CMM to inspect freeform surfaces is proposed. Unlike primitive surfaces, it is not easy to determine the number of sampling points and their locations for inspecting freeform surfaces. Since a CMM operates with slower speed in measurement than optical measuring devices, it is important to optimize the number and the locations of sampling points in the inspection process. When a complete inspection of a surface is required, it becomes more critical. Among various factors to cause shape errors of a final product, curvature characteristic is essential due to its effect such as stair-step errors in rapid prototyping and interpolation errors in NC tool paths generation. Shape errors are defined in terms of the average and standard deviation of differences between an original model and a produced part. Proposed algorithms determine the locations of sampling points by analyzing curvature distribution of a given surface. Based on the curvature distribution, a surface area is divided into several sub-areas. In each sub-area, sampling points are located as further as possible. The optimal number of sub-areas. Finally, the proposed method is applied to several surfaces that have shape errors for verification.
