Subdivision by Edge Selection based on Curvature (정점 변화율에 기반한 에지 선택적 세분화)

  • 세분화란 초기 원형 모델의 삼각형 메쉬를 여러 개의 작은 메쉬로 변환하는 기법으로, 간략화 된 모델을 다시 원상태로 표현하기 위해 사용된다. 기존의 보간에 의한 세분화는 전체 모델의 에지에 일률적으로 세분화를 적용하기 때문에, 효과가 적은 부분까지도 세분화가 수행하게 되어 효율이 떨어진다. 본 논문에서는 정점 변화율을 기반으로 에지를 선택하여 세분화를 수행한다. 따라서 원형 메쉬를 변환하여 세분화된 메쉬를 생성할 때, 모델의 각 부분들은 정점 변화율의 차이에 의해 서로 다른 세분화 정도를 가지게 된다. 이 과정을 통해 원형 모델의 곡률 특성이 반영된 세분화를 수행할 수 있게 되고, 전체 모델의 세분화 정도를 조정하는 것도 가능해진다. Abstract The subdivision is a mesh transformation, which makes an original triangle mesh to subdivided meshes. This method is used for recovering original model from simplified model. The existing subdivision based on interpolation is inefficient, because it is targeted for whole edges of mesh model. Therefore, this method applies to non-effective parts. In this paper the subdivision is executed by edge selection based on curvature. When original model is transformed to subdivided model by proposed method, the parts of model has different subdivision degrees by means of the averages of vertex curvature.Proposed method makes it enable subdivision, which deploy characteristics of curvatures of original model and adjusting a degree of subdivision in whole model.

A Study on the Moment-Curvature Relation of Hollow RC piers considering Tension Stiffening Effect (인장강성효과를 고려한 중공단면 교각의 모멘트-곡률 관계에 대한 연구)

  • Moment-curvature relation of RC pier is influenced greatly in occurrence form of crack and difference is happened according to consideration existence and nonexistence of tension stiffening effect. However, studies considering these is very insufficient misgovernment. Also, it is sometimes unavoidable lap splice of axial reinforcement in plastic hinge region of RC piers. However, specific design standard about lap splice of axial reinforcement is unprepared real condition and study about effect that lap splice of axial reinforcement get in occurrence form of crack is insufficient misgovernment. Therefore, in this paper, experiments are performed with hollow RC piers that do lap splice of axial reinforcement by main variable. And this study present analytical method about moment-curvature relation of hollow RC pier that consider tension stiffening effect and analyze effect that lap splice of axial reinforcement gets in occurrence form of crack. Analytic method of moment-curvature relation of RC pier that present in this study shows very similar motion with experiment result and crack interval of RC pier is suffering dominate impact in the augmented reinforcement amount by lap splice and average crack interval decreases as lap splice ratio increases.

Comparison of Various Turbulence Models for the Calculation of Turbulent Swirling Jets (난류선회제트 계산에 관한 난류모델 비교 연구)

  • Comprehensive numberical computations have been made for four turbulent swirling jets with and without recirculation to critically evaluate the accuracy and universality of several exising turbulence models as well as of the modified k-.epsilon. model proposed in the present study. A numerical scheme based on the full Navier-Stoke equations ha been developed and used for this purpose. Inlet conditions are given by experiments, whenever possible, to minimize the error due to incorrect initial conditions. The standard k-.epsilon. model performs well for the strongly swirling jets with recirculation while it underpredicts the influence of swirl for weakly swirling jets. Rodi's swirl correction and algebraic stress model do not exhibit universality for the swirling jets. The present modified k-.epsilon. model derived from algebraic stress model accounts for anisotropy and streamline curvature effect on turbulence. This model performs consistently better than others for all cases. It may be because these flows have a strong dependence of stresses on the local strain of the mean flow. The predictions of truculence intensities indicate that this model successfully reflect the curvature effect in swirling jets, i.e. the stabilizing and destabilizing effects of swirl on turbulence transport.

The Characteristics of Natural Frequencies of the Curved Bridge with Singly Symmetric Cross Sections (1축 대칭단면을 갖는 곡선교의 고유진동수특성)

  • Beams curved in plan are often designed with the circular curved member system including warping effects. In this study, the curved bridges are idealized as the circular curved member system with singly symmetric cross sections and simply supported ends. Displacement fields of them to satisfy the boundary conditions are expanded by Fourier series and the governing equation of natural frequencies of them is derived. The distributions of the characteristics of natural frequencies of them are shown according to the variations of relevant parameters-angle of intersection, curvature, and parameter of symmetry of cross section which can represent the properties of the curved bridges. A parametric study is conducted to investigate the effect of relevant parameters on natural frequencies.

Si 함유 DLC 필름의 탄성특성 평가

  • 박막의 탄성특성을 평가하는 방법으로 nano-indentation, Brillouin light scattering measurement, ultrasonic surface wave measurement, bulge test, vibration membrane method 등 여러 가지가 제시되어 왔다. 최근에는 탄성특성을 평가할 수 있는 간단한 방법으로 기판 식각 기법을 이용한 freehang, bridge 방법이 제시되었다. 이중에서 bridge 방법은 간단한 식각 기법을 이용하여 얇은 박막에서도 탄성 특성을 평가할 수 있는 방법으로 제시되었다. 그러나 식각 과정에서 발생하는 patch 부분의 under-cut으로 인해 정확한 bridge의 길이를 측정할 수 없게 되어 오차가 발생하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 bridge 방법에서 발생하는 오차를 줄이기 위한 방법으로, patch 부분에 etch-stop을 제작해 줌으로서 식각 과정에서 발생하는 under-cut을 효과적으로 제거시켰다. Etch-stop은 2장의 mask를 align key를 이용하여 제작하였다. 먼저 산화막이 형성되어 있는 Si 기판위에 mask 1을 이용하여 patch 부분을 lithography 작업하고, 습식 식각 공정을 한 뒤 DLC 필름을 증착시킨다. 다음으로 mask 2를 이용하여 bridge pattern을 제작하고, DLC 필름을 증착시킨 후 lift-off 기술과 산화막 등방식각 공정을 통해 bridge를 제작하였다. 이렇게 제작된 bridge를 통해 필름이 기판에 부착되기 위해 필요한 변형률을 측정하고, 독립적으로 측정된 필름의 잔류응력과 함께 박막의 응력-변형률 관계식에 적용시켜 biaxial elastic modulus, E/(1-v)를 구할 수 있었다. Sidl 첨가된 DLC 필름은 rf-PACVD 장비를 이용하여 증착하였다. 이때 전극과 플라즈마 사이의 바이어스 음전압은 -400V로 합성압력은 10mTorr로 고정하였다. 사용한 반응가스는 벤젠(C6H6)과 희석된 실렌(SiH4:2H=10:90)이며, 희석된 실렌의 첨가량을 조절하여 필름 내에 함유된 Si의 양을 조절하였다. 각각의 조건에서 증착시간을 조절하여 필름의 두께를 조절하였다. 필름의 잔류응력은 압축잔류 응력에 의해 발생한 필름/기판 복합체의 곡률을 laser 반사법을 이용하여 측정하고, 이 결과를 Brenner 등에 의해 유도된 식을 대입하여 계산하였다.

Structure and Suppression of Nonpremixed Counterflow Flames (비예혼합 대향류화염의 구조와 소화)

  • Measurements with filaments and thermocouples and computations with Oppdif and FDS were carried out to investigate the impact of flame strain, agent addition, and buoyancy on the structure and extinction of nonpremixed counterflow flames. Measurements through 2.2 s drop tests in microgravity conditions and experiments in normal gravity conditions were compared with the results of computations. For the global strain rates 7 s$^{-1}$ through 100 s$^{-1}$ , the turning point behavior in the critical nitrogen concentration at O-g was confirmed. The effects of buoyancy, that is, changes in the flame curvature and thickness were also confirmed by the computations with FDS. There was agreement in the peak flame temperature and its position between the computations and the measurements in the near extinction methane/air diffusion flames in microgravity.

  • For the purpose of image analysis, we usually take the application method relying on the various mathematical theories. On the respect of image as two variable function one may uses the gradient vector or several type of energy functions induced by the conventional (partial) derivative. We also have used the tangent plane or curvature vector from the concept of differential geometry {**]. However, these mathematical tools my assume that the given function should be sufficiently smoothing enough to depict every local variation continuously. But the real application of these mathematical methods to the natural images or phenomena may occur the ill-posed problem. In this paper, we have defined the weak derivative as a loose form of the derivative so that it my applied to the irregular case with less ill-posed problem.

  • 이 논문에서는 유전밴드 영상신호에 포함되어 있는 지형적 특징을 이용하여 밝기의 변화가 일정하지 않은 유전밴드를 인식하는 방법을 연구하였다. 유전밴드는 동일인을 식별하는데 있어서 지문보다 높은 신뢰성을 가지고 있으므로, 유전밴드 영상에서 유전밴드의 유무와 위치를 자동적으로 검출하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 레인내의 밝기의 변화가 일정한 유전밴드는 미분연산자에 의해 검출할 수 있지만, 밝기의 변화가 일정하지 않은 레인내의 유전밴드는 일반적인 인식방법에 의해서는 검출하기 어렵다. 따라서 유전밴드 영상으로부터 지형적 특징을 추출하고, 이것으로부터 계산한 곡률(curvature)의 크기에 의해 유전밴드를 인식함으로써 레인의 밝기가 변화하는 경우에도 효과적으로 인식하였다.Abstract This paper presents recognition of DNA band using the topographical features of DNA band images. The DNA band provides a more reliable way of identification than fingerprints. Recognition based on differentiation operators can easily detect the DNA band if the brightness of lane in the image is almost uniform. When the brightness of the lane changes gradually, the DNA bands are hard to be recognized. Using the curvature magnitude of the lane computed from topographic features extracted from DNA images, the DNA bands are efficiently recognized in the lane whose brightness changes.

Remote Sensing Image Segmentation by a Hybrid Algorithm (Hybrid 알고리듬을 이용한 원격탐사영상의 분할)

  • A hybrid image segmentation algorithm is proposed which integrates edge-based and region-based techniques through the watershed algorithm. First, by using mean curvature diffusion coupled to min/max flow, noise is eliminated and thin edges are preserved. After images are segmented by watershed algorithm, the segmented regions are combined with neighbor regions. Region adjacency graph (RAG) is employed to analyze the relationship among the segmented regions. The graph nodes and edge costs in RAG correspond to segmented regions and dissimilarities between two adjacent regions respectively. After the most similar pair of regions is determined by searching minimum cost RAG edge, regions are merged and the RAG is updated. The proposed method efficiently reduces noise and provides one-pixel wide, closed contours.

Experiments on Natural Convection on the Outer Surface of a Vertical Pipe by Using Fluids with High Pr Number (높은 Pr 수의 유체를 사용한 수직 원형관 외부의 자연대류 실험)

  • In this study, we investigated the natural convection on the outer surface of a vertical pipe by performing mass transfer experiments using fluids with high Pr number using the concept of analogy between heat and mass transfer. A cupric acid-copper sulfate electroplating system was adopted as the mass transfer system. Tests were performed for $Ra_H$ numbers from $1.4{\times}10^9$ to $4{\times}10^{13}$, Pr numbers from 2,094 to 4,173, and diameters from 0.005 m to 0.035 m. The test results for laminar flow conditions were in good agreement with the correlations reported by King, Jakob and Linke, McAdam, and Bottemanne, and those for turbulent conditions with the correlations presented by Fouad for a vertical plate and also proved the dependence on Pr numbers. The obtained correlations were $Nu_H=0.55Ra^{0.25}_H$ for laminar and $Nu_H=0.12Ra^{0.28}_HPr^{0.1}$ for turbulent. The transition between laminar and turbulent occurs at $Ra_H$ of about $10^{12}$.
