A Study on the Characteristics of High-Tension Bolted Joints' Behavior due to Surface Condition (표면상태에 따른 고장력볼트 마찰이음부의 거동특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the static and the fatigue tests were performed with high tension bolted joints, of which the surfaces were spread with inorganic zinc-primer after shot-blast, and milling surface, and steel-natural surface, difference of friction surface condition were examined by comparing the esults of tests. From the result of synthetical investigation of this study. it is proper that using the torque management method in order to introduce design axial force to blots, and the provision of specifications that initial axial forces must be 110% of design axial forces is proper. Decreasing ratio of axial forces to initial force is proportional to common lorgarithms of time progress, it converge constant value after 20 hours, and decreasing ratio is little related to the roughness of friction surface. Sliding coefficient of milling, spreading inorganic zinc-primer, just producting is great in order and sliding forces are dependent on the applied axial forces, but if the applied axial forces are great, sliding coefficient become small by a loss of roughness. So it is confirmed that relation between the applied axial forces and the sliding forces are not proportional linearly. From the result of estimation on fatigue strength, all specimens satisfy the specifications with B-grade and milling surface is lower than the others about 14% in fatigue strength because in milling surface lose the function of friction-types joints at lower number of cycles. From the result of eximination for the distribution area of compressive force, friction area near to inside bolt is wider in the direction of stress than near to outside. It is guessed that this situation occurs because outside bolts firstly change from the friction connection to the bearing connection.

  • The use of a ventricular assist device (VAD) can raise the one-year survival rate without cardiac transplantation from 25% to 52%. However, malfunction of the VAD system causes 6% of VAD patients' deaths, which could possibly be avoided through the development of new VADs in which VAD malfunctions do not affect the patient's heart movement or hemodynamic state. A conventional VAD has an impeller or vane for propelling blood that can allow blood to regurgitate when the propelling force is weaker than the aortic pressure. In this paper, we developed a new pulsatile conduit-shaped VAD that has two valves. This device removes the possibility of blood regurgitation and has a small stationary area even when the pumping force is extremely weak. We estimated the characteristics of the device by measuring the outflow and the pressure of the pump in in-vitro and in-vivo experiments.

Development and Application of the Assessment System of TBM Tunnelling Procedure (TBM 터널 공정 분석시스템의 개발 및 적용)

  • Four assessment systems for planning and evaluation of TBM tunnelling are discussed, and their characteristics and input data are analyzed. Two of the systems are determined to be adequate for post-evaluation of TBM performance because the time, such as repair time, downtime, installation time and transport time, must be included for calculations. The others are adequate for pre-planning because the basic data of the systems consist of only the basic properties of rocks and rock masses, and the specification of TBM. In order to apply these assessment systems, a number of equations, graphs and charts are generally required, which seems to be very inconvenient and complicated. In this study, therefore, a user-friendly program operated on Windows system is developed, and each system can be selected by the corresponding input data. It will be possible fer tunnel engineers to select a system according to their objectives and available input data, and to apply the system to TBM tunnel project.

  • Recently, it is focused on a methodology to estimate a order of precedence investment in distribution power system under competitive electricity market. This paper suggests methodology to evaluate the order as using a sensitivity of system interruption cost in distribution system regarding a failure rate of distribution components. In this paper, by using one of feeder in RBTS model, the order is assessed to compare valuation about sensitivity of interruption cost with valuation about sensitivity of estimated reliability indices. In conclusion, it is shown that results of precedence investment based on each methods are difference.

  • 본 논문은 CincoNet사의 Netxray 3.0.1을 통해 실시간 운영중인 동의대학교 종합 정보통신망(DEUNET)의 성능을 분석하고 평가한다. 기존의 네트워크 성능분석이 모의실험이나 트래픽 이론을 통해 분석한 경우가 대부분이므로, 실제 운영중인 네트워크의 성능과는 많은 차이가 날 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 수식적인 이론전개를 통한 성능 분석보다는 실제적인 측정을 통해 교내 망의 시간별 이용률과 사용하는 프로토콜의 현황과 트래픽 특성을 정성적으로 접근하였으며, 교내망인 동의대학교 종합정보통신망(DEUNET)을 모델로 삼았다. 이러한 분석방법은 네트워크의 설계와 증설 및 고장수리에 아주 중요한 기초자료로 사용될 것이다.

  • Automotive safety integrity level of hardware components can be achieved by satisfying quantitative and qualitative requirements. Based on ASIL, quantitative requirements are composed of hardware architectural metrics and evaluation of safety goal violations due to random hardware failures in ISO 26262. In this paper, the types of hardware failures will be defined and classified. Based on various metrics related with hardware failures, design essentials to achieve hardware safety integrity will be studied specifically. Issues associated with hardware development and assessment process are presented briefly.

Assessment of Thermal Stress in Temporary Bridge (가교량의 온도응력 평가)

  • The temporary steel bridges which are constructed for detour and constructional expediency are consisted of H-beams(as superstructure) and H-piles(as substructure). Because these members are fastened by high-tension bolts, there are no expansion joints in these bridges. So, these kinds of bridges have no system which can relieve the excessive thermal stress. In this investigation, monitoring system was set up at temporary steel bridge and stress and temperature changes of H-beam are monitored. From these measured data, it is analyzed that the relationship between ambient and main-girder temperature change, between temperature and stress change. With these analyses, it is resulted that the thermal stress take main part of stress variation in this bridge and the restrain of thermal longitudinal displacement of H-pile. In addition, because the connection part of H-beam to H-beam is weak in the continuous spans, the sub-modelling is well apt to reflect the effect of thermal stress.

Evaluation of Optimal Time Between Overhaul Period of the First Driving Devices for High-Speed Railway Vehicle (고속철도차량 1차 구동장치에 대한 완전분해정비의 최적 주기 평가)

  • The first driving device of the power bogies for the Korean high-speed railway vehicle consists of the traction motor (TM) and the motor reduction gears unit (MRU). Although TM and MRU are the mechanically integrated structures, their time between overhauls (TBO) have two separate intervals due to different technical requirements(i.e. TBO of MRU: $1.8{\times}10^6km$, TBO of TM: $2.5{\times}10^6km$). Therefore, to reduce the unnecessary number of preventive maintenances, it is important to evaluate the optimal TBO with a viewpoint of reliability-center maintenance towards cost-effective solution. In this study, derived from the field data in maintenance, fault tree analysis and failure rate of the subsystem considering criticality of the components are evaluated respectively. To minimize the conventional total maintenance cost, the same optimal TBO of the components is derived from genetic algorithm considering target reliability and improvement factor. In this algorithm, a chromosome which comprised of each individual is the minimum preventive maintenance interval. The fitness function of the individual in generation is acquired through the formulation using an inverse number of the total maintenance cost. Whereas the lowest common multiple method produces only a four percent reduction compared to what the existing method did, the optimal TBO of them using genetic algorithm is $2.25{\times}10^6$km, which is reduced to about 14% comparing the conventional method.

  • Reliability prediction provides a rational basis for design decisions such as the choice between alternative concepts, choice of part quality levels, derating factors to be applied, use of proven versus state-of-the-art techniques, and other factors. For this reasons, reliability prediction is essential functions in developing space systems. The worth of the quantitative expression lies in the information conveyed with the numerical value and the use which is made of that information and reliability prediction should be initiated early in the configuration definition stage to aid in the evaluation of the design and to provide a basis for item reliability allocation (apportionment) and establishing corrective action priorities. Reliability models and predictions are updated when there is a significant change in the item design availability of design details, environmental requirements, stress data, failure rate data, or service use profile. In this paper, the procedure, selection of reliability data and methods for space system reliability prediction is presented.

  • Recently, with the world-wide issues about global warming and CO2 reduction, a number of distributed generations(DGs) such as photovoltaic(PV) and wind power(WP), are interconnected with the distribution systems. However, DGs can change the direction of the power flow from one-direction to bi-direction, and also change the direction and amount of fault current of existing distribution systems. Therefore, it may cause the critical problems on the power quality and protection coordination. This paper proposes an operation algorithm for bi-directional protection coordination using and apply it for the evaluation system for protection coordination. From the simulation results It is found that the proposed method is more effective and convenient than existing method.
