The public library strives to foster information use by the public, cultural activities, reading, and life-long education. Public libraries are firmly rooted in local societies providing services that reflect the needs and characteristics of those local communities, while at the same time are structured in a coherent nation-wide network. This study examines practices of managing local cultural contents and proposes ways in which public libraries, as central information hubs in local communities, can provide diverse knowledge information and cultural programs, and local culture contents.

본 특집은 지방시대에 지역건축문화가 어떻게 변화하고 정착되고 있는가? 그 지역만의 갖고 있는 도시+건축문화의 아이덴티티는 무엇이고, 현대화과정에서 그 지역의 고유한 문화경관요소가 개발과 보존이라는 병립된 사회요구속에서 어떻게 적응되고 있는가에 대해 살펴봄을 의도하고 있다. 특히 백제문화권의 중심도시인 아산, 부여, 공주의 도시특성을 이루고 있는 도시공간구조 및 구성요소와 그 속에 내포되어 있는 문화경관요소의 현황을 살펴본다. 본고는 현대화하는 과정 속에서 전통성이 있는 문화요소를 지역성의 개념과 상관적으로 관련시켜 정리하기 위한 것이다. 문화가 지역을 초월하여 국제적으로 교류되면서, 생활의 편익성을 추구하는 현대인들은 국가와 민족의 차이를 넘어 동일한 지구문화형성의 과정으로 급속히 진행하고 있다. 현대화는 서구화라는 등식은 서구문화의 간결한 편익성이 낳은 전세계적 현상이다. 따라서 현대화를 생활의 변화로 이해할 때에 전통논의의 여유가 있고, 전통논의에 대한 객관성이 있으며, 편협된 전통관으로부터 자유로와질 수 있다. 시간의 변화에 따라서 생활이 변하고, 특히 생활을 담는 그룻으로서 건축환경이 변한다. 오랜 시간을 통해서 서서히 건축환경이 변하지만, 누적된 변화는 커다란 차이로서 나타나고, 이에 따라 적응과정에서의 여러 문제점이 발생한다. 그러므로 현재까지 많이 논의되어온 보전과 보존의 방법론적 세분화에 의한 적극적인 대책이 요구되는 시점에 있다고 할 수 있다. 해서 '전통성을 갖춘' 도시ㆍ건축구조물을 단순한 유적, 유물로 보존할 것인가, 실생활과 관련된 생활과 함께 하는 문화현상으로 적응시킬 것인가 하는 문제점이 우리의 과제인 것이다.

The food culture reflects the unique characteristics of the locality and the lifestyle and values of its members. So It is one of the most revealing elements of local identity. Such a food culture has an intangible form, such as memories and customs related to food, and is an area that is likely to disappear if not recorded and preserved. Based on the study of domestic and foreign cases, documentation was carried out in this study. In addition, we sought ways to manage and utilize the collected and produced records. Therefore, we suggested the method of documenting the local food culture, along with proposed managing the cultural resources of the recorded region and utilizing it in the academic and cultural aspects.

고유가 등으로 인한 원가상승으로 인해 경기침체 여파를 심하게 받는 중소기업 중에서 특히 인쇄업은 타격이 더 크다. 그런데도 인쇄요금은 10년전 수준에 머무르고 있으니 인쇄업계의 시계바늘은 멈춰선지 오래인 듯 하다. 일부 인쇄사를 제외하고는 정당한 가격제시가 쉽지않은 실정이며 상당수 인쇄사들이 주는대로 받는(?) 수준에 머물러 있다.

어촌이 직면한 현황과 문제점들은 개성과 고유성 그리고 지역의 특성이 녹아있는 어촌의 개발이라는 측면에서 개발 방향의 설정이 필요하다. 어촌지역이 가진 경제, 사회. 정치, 문화, 환경적 가치의 상대적 비하가 어촌지역의 친환경적이고 지속가능한 개발에 발목을 잡는 그 동안의 요소로 작용했다면, 이제는 이러한 소외된 요소들을 중심으로 환경적으로 건전하고 지속가능한 어촌개발을 위한 초석으로 삼아야 한다.

우리나라 과학출판은 최근 출판사의 적극적인 의욕에도 불구하고 분명한 성과는 나타나지 않고 있다. 이에는 우선 전문적인 편집인들이 상당히 부족하고, 과학용어가 통일되지 않거나 고유명사에 대한 외래어 표기법이 혼란스러운 점 등 출판외적인 것 외에도 기획물이 지나치게 사회분위기에 휩쓸린다거나 번역서 일색인 점 등의 문제가 산재해 있다.

주화에 대칭되는 개념으로 사용되는 지폐는 은행권이라고도 불리며 교환매개, 가치척도와 같은 화폐의 고유기능을 수행한다. 그러다 조금만 더 관심을 갖고 들여다보면 지폐에 대한 한 가지 새로운 사실을 깨닫게 된다. 그것은 바로 지폐가 한 국가의 인쇄와 과학기술 수준을 가늠해 볼 수 있는 척도라는 사실이다. 교환의 수단을 넘어 국가의 위상을 상징하는 ‘얼굴’ 인 지폐, 지금까지 잘 알려지지 않았던 숨겨진 비밀들에 대해 살펴봤다.
