  • 고속회전의 원심력으로 연료를 공급하고 액체연료의 미립화를 초래하는 회전연료분무장치에 대한 분무특성 시험연구를 수행하였다. 특정한 공간상에 존재하는 액적의 특성을 이해하고자 고속회전 연료분사시스템을 설계 제작하였다. 시험장치는 고속으로 회전하는 Spindle, 회전연료노즐, 가압식 물탱크, 아크릴 케이스로 구성하였다. 액적의 크기와 속도를 측정하기 위해 PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer)시스템을 사용하였고, ND-Yag Laser를 사용하여 분무를 가시화 하였다. 시험결과 고속회전 연료분사시스템의 분무특성을 확인할 수 있었고, 회전속도는 액적 크기, 속도, 분무각 및 분무패턴 등의 분무특성에 주요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • Fuel injection system has more benefits in power, fuel consumption and emission than carburetor system even in high speed small engine. Up to date fuel injection system is used in motor car but is not used in motorcycles in Korea. EFI (Electronic fuel injection) system which has ECU can control precise fuel supply to variable RPM in engine. The purpose of this study is the investigation of effects of fuel injection system to improve the engine performance and efficiency in variable revolution of high speed small engine which is 4 Valves SOHC single cylinder engine used in motorcycle.

  • We studied the spray characteristics of the high-speed rotating fuel injection system. The diameter of in-line injection orifices are varied from 1mm to 5mm and the number of in-line injection orifices are varied from 3 to 12. Droplet size, velocity and spray distribution were measured by the PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system and spray was visualized. From the test results, the liquid column generated from the injection orifice is mainly controlled by the rotational speeds. Also diameter of injection orifices and number of injection orifices have influence on the diameters of droplet. Consequently, we find out that the basic mechanism of controlling the droplet size is the liquid film thickness in the injection orifice.

  • An experimental study was performed to understand spray characteristics of the V type rotating fuel nozzle with orifice diameters by using high speed rotational system. The experimental apparatus consist of a high speed rotational system, fuel injection system and acrylic case. The droplet size and velocity were measured by PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) and spray was visualized by using Nd-Yag laser-based flash photography. From the test results, droplet size is reduced with increasing orifice diameter up to the critical value. When increasing orifice diameter over than this critical value, droplet size is not decreased with increasing the orifice diameter. This is due to the irregular distribution of the liquid sheet around the inner surface of injection orifice.

  • An experimental study was performed to understand ignition characteristics of gas turbine combustor with rotating fuel injection system. Liquid fuel applied to the inner surface of rotating fuel nozzle which was driven by high speed electrical motor is flung away by centrifugal forces. The real scale combustor and test rig was manufactured and tested under atmospheric condition in KARl combustion test facility. From the test results, this combustor ignition characteristics are highly dependent upon fuel nozzle rotating speed. Futhermore, combustor exit gas temperature was rapidly changed by increasing or decreasing the fuel nozzle rotating speed.

  • The study was performed to understand combustion characteristics of the slinger combustor. Liquid fuel is discharged radially outwards through injection holes drilled in the high speed rotating shaft. We observed atomizing characteristics with variation of fuel nozzle rotating speed by using PDPA system. The mean drop diameter highly depends on fuel nozzle rotating speed. In KARI combustion test facility, Ignition and combustion tests were performed by using real scale combustor. In the test results, ignition and combustion efficiency were increased according to increasing fuel nozzle rotating speed. The measured radial temperature distribution at the combustor exit shows stable and fairly good distribution.

  • The study was performed to understand combustion characteristics of the slinger combustor. Liquid fuel is discharged radially outwards through injection holes drilled in the high speed rotating shaft. The spray test was peformed to verify atomizing characteristics with variation of fuel nozzle rotational speed by using PDPA system. SMD was measured at different RPM and values are 70$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 5,000RPM rpm, 60$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 10,000RPM and 40$\mu\textrm{m}$ at 20,000RPM. In the results, we found out that SMD is grown smaller with increasing rotational speed. In KARI combustion test facility, Ignition and combustion tests were performed by using combustor test rig. In the test results, ignition and combustion efficiency were improved according to increasing rotational speed. The measured radial temperature distribution at the combustor exit shows stable and fairly good distribution.

  • An experimental study was performed to understand spray characteristics of the slinger injector. system for the micro turbojet engine. In this fuel injection system, fuel is sprayed and atomized in the combustor by centrifugal forces of engine shaft. This experimental apparatus consist of a high speed rotating Spindle, slinger injector, pressure tank and acrylic case. The droplet size and velocity were measured by PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) and spray was visualized by using Nd-Yag laser-based flash photography. From the test results, the droplet size(SMD) is largely affected to rotational speed, mass flow rate and the number of injection orifice. From the this experimental study, we could understand the spray characteristics of the slinger injection system and obtain the optimum shape of the slinger injector nozzle which is suitable for the micro turbojet engine.

  • 현재 외부 가압 공기베어링이 사용되어지는 분야는 PCB 기판, 엔진의 연료분사노즐 등의 고속가공용 스핀들, 전자 기기, 광학 기기 등에 사용되는 초정밀 부품가공용 스핀들, 정밀 측정 기기, 의료 기기, 저온 팽창기등 상대운동을 하는 많은 분야에서 이용되고 있으며, 이들 분야의 고속화 및 고정밀화 추세에 따라 고속에서의 안정성과 높은 운전정밀도가 보장된 외부 가압 공기 베어링이 요구되고 있다. 정밀 스핀들 시스템에 공기베어링이 사용되는 이유는 윤활제인 공기의 압축성에 기인된 평균화효과로 인하여 어느 정도 형상오차가 존재하더라도 축의 회전 시 떨림 진폭이 흡수되어 높은 운전정밀도를 유지하며 운전이 가능하기 때문이다. 그러나, 공기의 압축성에 의한 평균화효과로 어느 정도의 떨림 진폭은 흡수되나 형상오차에 의한 떨림 진폭은 작은 크기라도 여전히 남아있게 된다. 따라서, 초정밀 가공 기기나 정밀 측정 기기 등 높은 운전정밀도가 요구되는 곳에 공기베어링이 사용될 경우에 있어서 형상오차는 운전정밀도에 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자가 된다. 본 연구에서는 각각 두 개의 오비 가압 공기 저널 및 스러스트 베어링으로 구성된 스핀들 시스템에 대한 축과 베어링의 직각도 오차가 운전정밀도에 미치는 영향에 대해 해석하고 결과를 고찰하여 스핀들 시스템에 있어서 형상 공차에 대한 기초 설계자료를 제시하고자 한다.
