본 연구는 사고요인과 사고모형의 문헌고찰을 통해 고속도로를 주행하는 버스와 화물차의 사고모형을 개발하고 그 적용방안에 대해 고찰하고자 수행되었다. 고속도로 사고 중 대형차로 인한 차량당 사고율은 승용차보다 월등히 높아 사고의 심각성을 나타내고 있으며, 따라서 이에 대한 별도의 검토가 필요한 시점에 와 있다. 특히 본 연구에 활용된 자료는 비집계된 사상자수로 구간자료를 집합화함으로써 발생하는 문제점을 해소할 수 있다. 모형의 분석기법으로 국내의 경우, 대부분 단순회귀식으로 사고모형을 개발, 적용하여 왔으나 사고수와 사상자수의 특성상 이산적 확률변수로 해석하여 포아송분포와 음이항분포로 적용하는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 버스와 화물차의 사고유형별로 적합한 사고 모형을 개발하여 이로 인한 인사사고 요인에 대한 영향을 분석하고 그 적용방안을 제시하였다. 이러한 연구는 도로설계, 운영, 교통법규, 교통행정 등의 분야에서 거시적인 정책적 방향성을 제시하리라 판단된다. 특히 본 연구는 고속도로 운영주체인 한국도로공사의 고속도로사고조서를 바탕으로 사고유형별 사고모형을 개발, 적용한 것으로 고속도로의 안정성 향상을 위한 제반 정책 수립에 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

'정보 초 고속도로'는 TV시청형태에 많은 영향을 끼치며 현재 존재하지 않는 매우 창의적인 서비스가 제공된다. 그 규모는 수천억 달러에 이르며 거대한 시장을 조성하는데 하드웨어 설비 못지 않게 소프트웨어에 거대한 자금이 투입될 전망이다.

Statistics shows that 80% of freeway users travel less than 50km, and only 8% of them do over 100km. It means that the freeway is used for commuting. As a result, the freeway is not used efficiently and social cost is high. The current toll system aims for the efficient usage of the freeway by restraining short-distance trips and inducing long-distance ones. Thus, policies such as minimum toll system and discount for long-distance trips have been carried out. However. these two policies take no account of demand management between the freeway and alternative roads. They merely consider the compensation for charge on users, so the assessment of discount rate and distinction of distance are not reasonable. Consequently, not only the effective demand management but also the evaluation of those policies has been difficult to be achieved. The objective of this paper is to analyze those problematic policies and to establish a reasonable and improved toll system. In addition, this study presents the methodology to minimize social cost, which can be achieved by reducing short trips and encouraging long ones on the freeway. A new methodology of freeway toll system is applied and the results are presented.

As the number of elderly drivers increases, traffic accidents from the elderly also increase. In particular, the emergency situation of the elderly driver is not transmitted to the following vehicle during cloudy days and night highway accidents, so it is extended to the second and third accidents, leaving serious aftereffects. Therefore, there is an urgent need to establish an economic and effective inter-vehicle emergency communication system between the accident vehicle of the elderly and the following vehicles. In this paper, we have proposed a policy and method that can take advantage of the special emergency light pattern of an elderly driver in an emergency and transmit it to the following vehicles, thereby providing secondary accident prevention and emergency relief. Furthermore, by introducing an infrared emergency communication system between vehicles using red brake lights and implementing it as a prototype of RC-Car, we have checked the feasibility of the system.

The objective of this study is to propose a new strategy, called "freeway travel reservation strategy", to mitigate freeway traffic congestion by using advanced traffic technologies and traffic demand management policies, and to analyze its acceptability. Motorist surveys were carried out to accomplish the acceptability analysis. As a result, 73% of respondents agreed with the proposed strategy, and an increase in the inconvenience for using freeway during the major Korean Holidays, in the age, in the number of family members, and in household income resulted in higher acceptability. Additionally, married or female respondents tended to have higher acceptability. Such results can be practical for developing policies to successfully operate the proposed strategy in the future.

Recently, the venture industry in Korea has grown so rapidly because of the economic restructuring and the governmental inducement policies. This study first attempts to investigate the governmental policies for venture business development. Secondly, this study probes into the characteristics and the locational conditions of the venture business in the Chungbuk region. Lastly, this study tries to formulate the policies to develop the venture industry in the Chungbuk region. This study finds that the governmental inducement policies for venture business are various and extensive. From the cross-sectional and spatial-distributional analyses of venture business statistics for the Chungbuk region, it is found that the most venture businesses in the Chungbuk region are concentrated in the manufacturing sector rather than the information technology sector and they are geographically concentrated around the Joongbu expressway. Since the vicinity of the Joongbu expressway provides fast access to the capital region and cheap land, many manufacturing firms have moved from the capital region to that area in the Chungbuk region.
