  • To recycle the waste tire rubber powder, rubber powder composite for waterproof sheet was prepared, and analyzed the effect of the kind of resin and the amount of crosslinking agent on the mechanical property of the composites. The elongation-at-break of the PE composite increased more than 3 times as EPDM was added into rubber composites. As the content of the crosslinking agent increased, the tensile strength of composite increased as well. When recycled polypropylene was used, the increase in composite's tensile strength was more than 3 times. Therefore to use the recycled PP in composite is more effective rather than PP in term mechanical properties.

  • In this study, mechanical properties of waste ground rubber tire powder were investigated to evaluate the influence of pre-treatment process for recycling. The tensile test, fracture test and morphology observation were carried out using various kinds of waste ground tire powders, which were produced by grinding and devulcanization process, respectively. As a results, it was found that the produced rubber powder through grinding process increased its tensile strength and elongation with decreasing particle size because of decreasing surface area. Devulcanized rubber powder also increased its tensile strength and elongation by de-crosslink with sulfur. It could be also suggested that devulcanization treatment after grinding process was more efficient recycling process for both increasing tensile property and fracture elongation of waste ground rubber tire powders.

  • Wheel tracking and ravelling tests were conducted on the hot mix crumb rubber modified asphalt concrete usmg waste tire t to evaluate the mechanical prope$\pi$ies in comparison with conventional asphalt concrete. According to the test results, the m modified product, lias superior to the conventional one by 50% in the resistance of permanent deformation and by 15% in the m resistance of dmability. The experimental results should recommend thut the waste tir$\xi$ is positively recycled for asphak concrete.

  • The use of the crumb rubber as an asphalt binder modifier may contribute to road maintenance and repair. The adhesion properties of the crumb rubber modified asphalt (CRMA) sealant have attracted interest due to brittle and adhesion failure of asphalt binders at low temperatures. In this study, the influence of a flexibilizer as a modifier for CRMA at low temperatures was investigated. Their properties were measured using the penetration, the softening point, the tensile and tensile adhesion tests at low temperature. The tensile adhesion strength and the strain of CRMAs were increased with increasing ductile deformation of the CR and the asphalt binder in the flexiblizer modified CRMAs. It was found that the flexibilizer concentration was an important factor for tensile and adhesion properties of CRMAs at low temperatures.

  • Mechanical properties of the commingled waste plastics filled with ground rubber tire were studied. To improve adhesion at the interface, trans-octylene rubber(TOR) was added. With increasing the rubber level, first, due to their inherent incompatibility, the tensile and the compressive strength decreased but tensile strain and impact strength increased. Then, as TOR added, the samples showed still the same strain but the tensile, impact, and compressive strength as well increased markedly Variation of the properties by addition of TOR seemed to be attributed to the dual character of TOR.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the damping properties of polyurethane composites incorporating waste tire rubber powder and preplaced coarse aggregates. Four types of polyurethane-based composites were manufactured, and longitudinal impact tests were performed. And vibration signals in the time domain and frequency domain were measured and values of damping ratio for each specimen were calculated. Test results showed that the damping ratios of polyurethane composites, in which the amount of polyurethane was reduced by 10.6% and 21.2% through incorporation of rubber particles, were 8.4% and 4.6% lower than that of pure polyurethane. The damping ratio of the polyurethane composite produced in a similar manner to the prepact concrete production method was found to be 22% lower than that of pure polyurethane, however, the amount of polyurethane was reduced by 50% and the stiffness was 25.7 times higher than that of pure polyurethane.

  • The asphalt mixture with CRM(Crumb Rubber Modifier) is known to show a better performance in resisting thermal cracking, fatigue cracking, and rutting compared with the conventional mixture. In this research, the lab tests on the physical and the mechanical characteristics of the domestic crumb rubber modified asphalt binder and conventional asphalts (AP-3, AP-5) were conducted. The physical test results show that CRM asphalt has better physical characteristics than that of conventional asphalts. The dynamic shear rheometer test results in high temperature show that CRM asphalt has higher complex shear modulus and aging resistance than those of conventional asphalts. And, the bending beam rheometer in low temperature test results show that CRM asphalt has higher resistance to thermal cracking than that of conventional asphalts.
