In recent years, the number of single-person elderly households has increased, but when an emergency situation occurs inside the house in the case of single-person households, it is difficult to inform the outside world. Various smart home solutions have been proposed to detect emergency situations in single-person households, but it is difficult to use video media such as home CCTV, which has problems in the privacy area. Furthermore, if only a single sensor is used to analyze the abnormal situation of the elderly in the house, accurate situational analysis is limited due to the constraint of data amount. In this paper, therefore, we propose an algorithm of abnormal situation detection fusion inside the house by fusing 2DLiDAR, dust, and voice sensors, which are closely related to everyday life while protecting privacy, based on their correlations. Moreover, this paper proves the algorithm's reliability through data collected in a real-world environment. Adnormal situations that are detectable and undetectable by the proposed algorithm are presented. This study focuses on the detection of adnormal situations in the house and will be helpful in the lives of single-household users.

This research surveys actual conditions in order to examine the lighting environments of the elderly's residential 50 households. The results is as following. First, The elderly indicated that they felt the living room and the kitchen are usual degree, dark only in bedrooms and rest rooms of brightness. And about satisfactory degree of residential illumination is being above of usual Satisfaction. Second, Problems of lighting environments of elderly's houses were brightness and management, when lighting environmental reconstruct, considered brightness and equipment superannuation, and they want the focus on brightness in the reconstruction. Third. Operating method of lighting was used almost overall lighting in bedroom and bathroom, overall lighting and part lighting are used together in kitchens. The living room has a lot of cases which uses only a general illumination, but the cases which overall lighting and part lighting are used together has occupied 40[%]. Fourth, An average Illuminance of the bedroom is 104.17[lx], an average unifonnity ratio is 60.22[%]. The livingroom's average is 116.15[lx], 51.48[%]. The sink's average is 236.40[lx], the table average is 160.73[lx] in the kitchen. The washstand's average is 109.81[lx], the chamber's average pot is 74.33[lx] in the bathroom. These results are generally darker than the standard.
The purpose of this study was to propose ubiquitous housing environment based on older residents' needs for ubiquitous(UT) home services. For this purpose, at the previous study which was the first stage of this study, UT home services by each elderly household based on spouse, income level, and health status were identified and this study finally proposed UT home services by each elderly household type according to residents' level of needs for UT home services. One to one interview with a structured survey questionnaire and illustration was implemented and 204 older residents who were composed of one of six elderly household types were responded. Among 6 types of elderly households, type 2 and 6 were the groups which had higher needs for various kinds of UT home services. Economic status and their health status were the key factors to determine their needs for UT home services. Type 4 and 7 were the groups to express their lower needs for UT home services due to their lower income level and good health condition. Ultimately, two floor plans for type 4 and 5 elderly households were developed to show applicable UT home services in each room of the house.

This study analyzed the effects of housing wealth on the balance accounts of elderly households with an age of over 60 facing the asset decumulation period, capitalizing upon an ordered logit model for the 2011 household finance survey data. Out of some variables representing personal and social characteristics, the age and waged worker variables had a positive effect, but the number of household, low education level, living in the apartment and capital region variables negatively affected the balance accounts of elderly households. Some variables reflecting economic wealth and financial strategies such as the attitude of risk-taking, ordinary income and the ratio of financial assets had a positive impact, but other variables such as DSR did a negative one on the balance accounts of the elderly households. The ownership of housing wealth variable positively, but the ratio of housing assets variable negatively affected the balance accounts of the elderly households, which could be derived from the duality of housing as both consumption goods and assets. However, the ownership of other real estates and the ratio of them in the total assets variables had a negative impact on the balance accounts of the elderly households. Furthermore, since the financial asset-debt ratio worsened the balance accounts of the elderly households with both housing and other real estates, it is implied that the purchase of real estates with excessive bank loans could make them dangerous.

The SOHO offers workers to enjoy more flexible work time and enhance concentration thus improving jop efficiency. Companies will be able to cut down on fixed expenses and increase productivity. In addition. such working conditions will contribute to relieve traffic and environmental problems and furthermore it will make it possible to take advantage of potential workforce of women. the elderly and the handicapped. "Home Office" is expected to be one of the prevailing work system in the near future. Therefore. it is all the more important to study design problems including space design and furniture arrangement in order to improve work efficiency and provide a creative working environment. Moreover. architects and interior designers as well as experts on related fields such as information network. telecommunications. management and employment should continue to carry out joint researches for reasonable home office furniture and environment design.nd environment design.
Research outcome shows the following: 1. Estimation by the year 2015 on the number of the aged people and on the number of the household of living alone and living with spouse only, per age-cohort by 5 years, per basic self-govern-ins local groups and the city of Daegu. The result is supposed to serve as meaningful basic material in building up future policies in many areas for the aged people living in their homes. 2. Estimation varies according to the areas and the age-cohorts. In urban areas, increase of the numbers of the households of the aged people living alone and living with spouse only is estimated in every age-cohort. In rural areas, variance between two age-groups, old-old and young-old, is observed. Both of the numbers of the households for the aged living alone and the aged living with spouse only have increased continuously by the year 2005. But the hither-to increase tendency is estimated to reverse itself to a decrease starting from the younger within the young-old age group, and the ratio of the old-old age-group in rural population will sharply increase starting from the year 2005. Such increase in the number of the aged people in need of the housing and the social support requires the increasing policy consideration for the issue of housing for the aged living in their homes. In spite of the decreasing tendency in the number of the aged people living alone and living with spouse only in rural areas, still there will continue to be more number of such households than in urban area for the time being. The government of Gyeongsangbuk-Do should pay more consideration to the old-old aged living alone and living with spouse only in rural areas, while being prepared for the sharply increasing households for the aged living alone and living with spouse only in urban areas.

In modern society, the number of one-person households is increasing significantly. In particular, one-person households have rapidly increased around local small and medium-sized cities. This study examines the characteristics of local small and medium-sized cities by factor and cluster analysis. Analysis of variance are applied to the characteristics of one-person household in different local cities to find the relationship between different types of cities and the characteristics of one-person households. As a result of the study, local small and medium-sized cities are classified into growth stagnation cities, industrial leading cities, regional base cities, and population outflow cities. It is also found that there are several different types of local cities based on the characteristics of one-person households. The growth stagnation city is a city where the regional economy is revitalized due to the development of regional industries in the past. One-person households have a small age group in their 30s and 40s, which are the basis of industrial activities. They have a high proportion of older generation living in more than three rooms in their homes. It is necessary to supply long-term public rental housing and share houses for older generation. The leading city of the industry is a city where the local economy is revitalized as workers are concentrated. One-person households are evenly distributed among all age groups, and the apartment occupancy rate is the highest compared to other types. It is necessary to provide happy housing for youth generation and reconstruction or renovation housing of manhood generation. The regional base city leads the regional base function and the regional economy, but it has reduced workers. Many of one-person households are younger than 30 years old and college educated. They are also high rate of unmarried and live at one room as rental houses. It is needed to expand the supply of small houses such as apartments, officetels and rented houses for youth generation. The population outflow city has a slow local economy and a rural residential environment. It is found that the households of one-person households have high rate of bereavement and the age. They live more than four rooms in single-family homes. It is necessary not only to provide welfare housing but also to create a sound residential environment where cultural exchange is possible.
With 106 detached houses where the elderly people lives, this study was conducted to perform a survey of their residential environment. The results of this study were summarized as follows: While the surveyed houses' safety, sanitation and convenience appeared to be positive, with respect to the conditions of location, 73.6% of the surveyed houses did not meet the requirements for comfort. The average area of each space indicated that the bed room was $12.09m^2$, the living room $14.38m^2$, the kitchen $8.96m^2$, the bath room $3.93m^2$, and the rest room $259m^2$. Then, 93.3% of the bed room had the doorsill. Also, 97.2% of the surveyed houses had retrievable space. The forms of the living room door were a hinged door(55.7%) and a sliding door(44.3%). The 43.4% of the finished material of the living room was wood which was highest. The cooking table forms of kitchen were mainly "ㄱ"-shaped(50.0%) and "ㅡ"-shaped(48.0%), and their average height was 815mm. The fuel used for kitchen was mainly the gas which accounted for 93.4%, but 95.3% of houses had no gas-warning devices. Most houses(77.4%) had an integrated type of bathroom and toilet. In addition, 63.2% houses had the stepped difference between the bathroom and other spaces. But they had no a sliding-prevention devices(not for 92.5%) or heating systems(not for 93.4%) in the bathroom.
This paper investigates housing defects and housing satisfaction of the aged according to the personal characteristics and their housing environment. Personal interview was made on the 280 senior persons living in Jeonbuk area. Research results are following. Low levels were found in education, self privately-owned property, monthly income. Most of them live in a detached house that is outdated and obsolete. The facility defects of housing were the most serious level in case of the female senior citizen who lives alone. Their house aging was old but had the high deviation among households. Main influencing factors on facility defects of housing were perceived economic status and ownership of house, the next was age of the aged. Main influencing factors on the housing satisfaction were perceived economic status. Housing satisfaction was higher, the better economic level of the aged was, male than female, the less the age was, in case of hot-water usage in bathroom, owner of houses, no difference in floor level, larger storage space of kitchen was. According to the empirical results, we propose the supporting policy of hosing safety for the aged in order to reduce the risk and social cost. Especially the rate of population aging, the aged household, and the detached houses are higher in Jeonbuk rural areas than the other area. Housing facility defects of the elder who lives alone and house aging of theirs are serious level. Local government should have supporting system that considers local difference and characteristics of the aged housing.

If aging apartments are left unimproved through remodeling, the city will be eventually slum. As the government recognizes remodeling as an alternative to reconstruction, the law has been revised mainly to increase the housing area, increase the number of house and allow the vertical extension for making remodeling costs. However, the remodeling is still not activated yet in the market. Therefore, this study analyzes the decision factors of apartment remodeling in Seoul metropolitan area based on Heckman two-stage analysis considering sampling error. Research findings indicate that the decision for remodeling is determined by the characteristics of the household, housing, and time-lapse variables. And also the number of household members, net assets, housing satisfaction, the 11-20, 21-30, and more than 30 years of building are identified as the significant variables as a result of remodeling choice probability analysis. It is noteworthy that the significant variables from then remodeling cost analysis are net assets, area, more than 30 years of building, and unit housing price. It is also notable that the policy, which extend the housing area to cover remodeling cost, are not actually effective to activate the remodeling, and the age in the case of elderly people in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do who are expected to have high net assets and income is not significant variables. This study is expected to provide more objective and reliable implication to the policy makers, the home owner and the investors on the decision making process related to the remodeling project.
