With the increase of the elderly population, problem on social isolation and loneliness have grown in Korea. Elderly dwelling issues have also been gaining increased attention since dwelling environment is discussed in conjunction with elderly's health and life quality. In this study, the data was collected retrospectively of 350 elderlies who live as single households during 1 September, 2017 to 30 September to identify how to define and measure dwelling depression. The content validity and reliability were evaluated and the correlation between the depression and the dwelling satisfaction were compared. Lastly, a regression analysis on the classification of the dwelling depression was performed. The results show that depression appearing in elderly are more likely to experience a dwelling unsatisfaction. Our results contribute to an understanding and measurement of the dwelling depression which has not been sufficiently specified.
Although the concept of the elderly varies depending on scholars and laws, as consumption expenditure is deeply associated with income due to the nature of this study, 55 years old was set as the low limit standard for the elderly according to Prohibition of Discrimination on Age in Employment and Employment Promotion for the Aged Act and the elderly households were limited to single-elderly person household and an elderly couple family household for this study. It is considered consumption characteristics as a significant analysis subject in terms of social welfare because it could be understood as an expressed need which was a reflection of desire. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the consumption characteristics of the elderly households by stereotyping the consumption pattern of the elderly households, and find the determining factors for consumption patterns and thus contribute to the establishment of related policies through the expressed needs of the elderly households. K-means of cluster analysis was performed by putting the consumption expenditure of the elderly households to investigate inherent structural type of consumption pattern of the elderly households, which were the investigation subjects. As a result, four groups were stereotyped and named as below: 'health care-centered type', 'saving-centered type', 'livelihood-centered type', and 'food expenses-centered type' Binary Logistic Regression analysis was used to identify the factors that influence the decision of consumption pattern of the elderly households. The result of study showed that the elderly households faced all different needs and problems and thus there is a need for various approach plans to solve this situation. In particular, although the elderly have been viewed as economically poor people so far, the study showed that there were also kind of prepared households through saving. Overall, livelihoodcentered type accounted for the highest portion and, as a factor that influenced this, marital state and household income played an important role. Therefore, it is considered that more active efforts to increase the income of the elderly households are needed. In addition, age, owning of house and subjective health state were found to also have significant influence. Through these results of the study, the elderly's own improvement of awareness on health, presentation of overall standard for health state of the elderly, securement of the elderly's access to cultural life, and financial management coordination for improvement of quality of life, development and dissemination of jobs suitable for the elderly, and dissemination of communal life household, which is a cooperation residential type, were presented as institutional task in the conclusion.

This study tried to explore the quantitative travel heterogeneity between elderly and non elderly people, focusing on urban and rural areas in south Chungcheong province. For the analysis, a PLS(Partial least square) model is applied with economic and traffic environment characteristics of the urban and rural areas. The characteristics of elderly and non elderly people in the urban and rural areas are derived from the 2011 person trip survey. As a result, the study found out that the key factors affect on elderly people in the urban and rural areas are bus operation interval, number of bus operation routes, number of household member, and a monthly average income of household. In case of non elderly people, areas economic factors such as GRDP, the rate of economic activity, and employment status as well as those of elderly people. Meanwhile, female elderly people in rural area have more sensitivity compared to male elderly people and the gender heterogeneity is not revealed in non elderly people.
This paper investigates both the changing spatial patterns of aging population during 1985 to 2010 and their interrelationship with the residential features of elderly households in 2010. The aging level of a region is classified into three different ones such as aging region (7~14%), aged region (14~20%) and super-aged region (over 20%). Residential features of elderly households are examined by such variables as housing type, housing ownership, and house age. Aging process has started from peripheral regions distanced away from Seoul. There are strong tendency that aging households reside in single unit house owned by oneself over 20 years-old aged houses, which shows more strong patterns toward peripheral regions in SMR.
This research explores different non-work trip characteristics between the elderly group (65+) and the working age group (20-64) using heteroscadastic ordered logit model. The analysis is based on travel survey data of Seoul Metropolitan area in 2006. The results show that age induces heteroscadasticity and the model provides a better fit than ordered logit model. The factors increasing the number of non-work trip of the elderly were driver's license and household income. Conversely, the number of non-work trips decreased in those groups that were male, with a job, in aging, and with the number of preschool children. The factors having opposite effects (increased the number of non-work trips in the working age groups and decreased in the elderly group) between the elderly group and working age group were age and job.
Korea is experiencing a rapid increase in the number of elderly living alone accompanying the aging society problem, a nd is making efforts to solve the problem through the policy of 'living alone u-care service'. The purpose of this study is to propose a better u-Care service improvement method by applying new technology to improve the user experience of ucare service for the health and safety of the elderly living alone. First, the improvement of u-Care service for elderly livin g alone by applying IoT technology. It provides remote monitoring service using health information data measured through wearable device, and transmits personal health status to medical institution by using personal device such as smart phone, so that remote medical consultation or telemedicine can be connected in the future. Second, improvement of u-Care service through consideration of emotional stability of elderly living alone as well as simple safety and health care through applica tion of emotional service robot technology. It is expected that it will be able to help independent living of one person's elde rly person in the future by providing caring function service to existing u-care service providing service.

This paper analyzes the characteristics of trip chaining activities of elderly and explores temporal and spatial distribution. The research also estimates ordered probit model and binary logistic model to investigate various factors affecting trip chaining and mode choice patterns. We utilized household survey data for elderly conducted in 2006 and 2010 in Seoul metropolitan area. Research results indicate that trip chaining showed an increasing trend and simple trip chaining counts for more than 85%. GIS mapping expressed spatial distribution of trip departure and arrival areas, particularly showing regional changes in job-related trips. We also found that more factors influence trip chaining in 2010, compared with 2006, and travel cost is more sensitive than travel time in determining travel mode. The research contributes to establish transportation policies based on travel behavior of elderly in a upcoming super-aged society.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the housing tenure choice decisions of older households, with focus on the activity constraints of the householders. For analysis, the probit model based on the data of the householders over 55 years of age from the 2015 KLIPS data was implemented. The research findings indicate that the ownership choice probability decreases when the head of the household has activity or social activity constraints. If there is an activity restriction, it is considered that the possibility of self-residence will be low due to the increase in medical expenses, the possibility of participation in economic activities will be low, the possibility of early retirement will be high, and the income will decrease. Therefore, if the head of the household has a personal or social activity constraint, such case is more likely to be categorized as falling under the poor residential group. This result suggests that the activity constraint can be utilized as a useful index for the housing welfare policy considering physical vulnerability.
According to Statistics Korea, South Korea has entered the realm of the "aging society" with the rapid development of the country's population. Researchers anticipate that the extremely high (73%) ratio of real estate property to total assets for mid-age to aged households in South Korea that do not have a fixed income may cause serious problems in the future. For example, the real estate market in South Korea may be bombarded with properties listed for sale, causing the average property price to drop due to the abundant supply. Although this prediction may be reasonable, this concept has excluded the idea of pension (which is crucial as it can be considered a consistent and fixed income) due to the limited amount of available data thereon; as such, it is important to include this factor to improve the pertinent research. Thus, this research was conducted using the data from the $3^{rd}$ and $5^{th}$ Korea Retirement and Income Study. For the study results, it was found that variables such as net asset, gender, education, and number of family members have the same impact as that found in the previous studies. To extend from here, two new factors were introduced: the existence of pensions and the amount of pension received by a household. From there, it was found that the existence of a consistent and fixed income such as a pension has led to an increase in housing consumption, the area of interest of the authors.

With the increase of the elderly population, demand for improvement of quality of life and measurement of mental state has increased. However, much of the self-reported diagnosis does not reflect cognitive impairment. This study aims to measure the dwelling depression by applying K-HTP and verify the validity. 301 persons over 65 years old who live as single and couple households in Daejeon and surrounding districts were surveyed during 22 January to 2 February, 2018. The correlations between the dwelling depression and K-HTP are clarified and the validity was evaluated. The correlations between the geriatric dwelling depression index(GDDI) and the GDDI based on K-HTP(GDDI-K) are clarified and the accuracy was analyzed. The results showed that the K-HTP can be utilized to measure the dwelling depression. We suggested a new measurement tool and provide further benefits for researches on diagnoses using the projective method.
