A Study on Library Use Competency of High School Students (고등학교 학생들의 도서관 이용능력에 관한 연구)

  • This has been designed for an attempt to survey a library use competency in order to provide basic information to plan more effective library use instruction for high school students. To get necessary data, a questionnaire was sent to 450 students in the 7 sample high schools in Seoul, and $80\%$ of them responded. The followings are the analysed results. 1. $42\%$ of them responded that they have heard about the decimal classification and $15\%$ of all the students have ever used decimal classification to search for the materials. 2. $3.6\%$ responded that they can understand the decimal classification and $66\%$ of all the students want to know about decimal classification. 3. $94\%$ responded that they have heard about the catalog cards and $41\%$ of all the students used catalog cards to search for the materials. 4. $29\%$ responded that they can understand the catalog cards and $68\%$ of all the students want to know about the catalog cards. 5. $61\%$ responded that they can use reference books. 6. $55.6\%$ responded that they know about the parts of a book. 7. $11\%$ responded that they can footnote. Reviewing the results of this study, library use competency of high school students can be said to be below level. And more effective approach is expected.

현상설계경기 - 강원전문대학

  • 강원전문대학신축설계경기의 당선작이 지난 6월21일 발표되었다. 총 9개의 작품이 응모한 이번 설계경기에서는 주.엄앤드이건축사 사무소(이각표)와 주.종합건축사사무소 산(한광호)의 공동안이 당선작으로 선정되었으며 주.건축사사무소 원.시공.형제(정상원)와, 주,건축사종합건축사사무소(공순구)의 안이 각각 우수작으로 선정되었다. 이 설계경기는 강릉시 주문진의 주문진소속고등학교 4만 8천여평 부지의 기존교사동, 실습동 증축과 대학본관, 도서관 등을 비롯 부대시설을 건립하는 것으로, 한국교육개발원의 '강원전문대설립방안 및 중.장기발전계획연구'에 의거 전문대학의 설립이념 및 목적, 설치학과 및 학생정원, 시설확충계획의 반영, 옥외시설 오픈스페이스 등을 충분히 고려하여야하는 것을 기본 설계방향으로 잡았다. 이번 심사는 한봉기(기획관), 이중근(건설교통국장)과 강원대, 관동대, 삼척산업대, 춘천교육대의 건축 및 조경학과 교수 등 총 10명이 맡았다. 당선된 주.엄앤드이건축사사무소와, 주.종합건축사사무소 산의 공동안은 적절한 조닝캠퍼스 내외의 접근성양호와 보차분리와 토지이용계획의 우수 등 여러 부분에서 심사위원들의 높은 점수를 받았다.

A Study on the Factors that Affect Students' Reading Ability - focused on Jeollabuk-do (학생 독서능력에 대한 독서환경, 독서경험, 독서교육의 영향관계에 관한 연구 - 전라북도를 중심으로)

  • This study investigated an actual condition of students' reading through the survey from 1,285 students in Jeollabuk-do and analysed the casual relationships which affect students' reading ability. 4 variables selected in this study are students' reading ability, reading environment, reading education and reading experiences. The results are as follow: the level of students' reading experience which means the number of books they read and time they consumed for reading is very low compared to the other variables. The reading level of elementary students is revealed higher than that of middle and high school students. The relationships among variables found out through the analysis are that reading education is influenced by reading environment, reading experience is affected by reading education and eventually reading ability is mainly affected by students' reading experience. Through these findings, this study proposed that expansion of students' reading experience and systematization of reading education are needed to strengthen their reading ability effectively.

The Impact of Reading on Self-Efficacy and Multicultural Acceptance: Using Multi-variate Latent Growth Model (독서가 자기효능감과 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향 분석 - 다변량 잠재성장모형을 적용하여 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of reading on self-efficacy and multicultural acceptance. The Korean Education and Employment Pannel II data were used for the analysis. Through analyzing the data with latent growth model, the growth trajectories for reading, self-efficacy, and multicultural acceptance were identified, and the relationship between three variances were analyzed using multi-variate latent growth model. As results, reading books, self-efficacy, and multicultural acceptance were decreased, as times go by. Next, the intercept of reading was postively related with self-efficacy and multicultural acceptance. Finally, self-efficacy mediated between the intercept of reading and the multicultural acceptance, and it's statistically significant.

A Study on the Effects of Teacher Librarians' Media and Information Literacy Classes: Focused on the High School Credit System (사서교사의 미디어 정보 리터러시 수업 효과에 관한 연구 - 고교학점제를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the role of teacher librarians by examining the cases of media and information literacy(MIL) classes in the joint curriculum of high school credit system research school. The classes were two 34th classes joint curriculum established by two teacher librarians at the high school credit system research school. Individual students set their own inquiry problems integrated with their careers or subjects, and teacher librarians guide the process of solving them based on the process of using MIL. The participants were 22 high school students in Daegu who filled out the questionnaire before and after completing the course. The effect of the classes was analyzed through a questionnaire consisting of 42 questions for the 3 factors of access, evaluation, and creation, which are the components of MIL announced by UNESCO. As a result, all 3 factors and 25 of the sub-42 survey items showed a statistically significant difference before and after class, It was investigated that literacy of students improved through MIL education of teacher librarians. Through this study, it will be possible to expand the awareness of the effect of the educational role of teacher librarians in the flow of future curriculum.

Correlation of Reading Quantities in Developmental Period and Reading Material Type (성장시기별, 자료별 독서량 간의 상관관계에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to examine the correlation of reading quantities in different developmental phases and various media(magazines, books, comic books). I surveyed reading quantifies in developmental periods, by questionnaires. As a methodology of empirical study, data was collected from 187 students at the Chonbuk National University. Statistical techniques of a Pearson Correlation Test were employed according to my hypotheses. The results of this survey are as follows: 1) reading quantities of general book of specific period is correlated with general book reading quantities of specific period. 2) reading quantities of magazine of specific period is correlated with magazine reading quantities of other period 3) reading quantities of comic book of specific period is correlated with comic book reading quantities of other period 4) correlation among reading quantity of middle school period and high school period is high.

Determinants of Intention to Use mobile E-book Based on the Technology Acceptance Model (기술수용모델에 기반 한 모바일 E-book 사용의도에 미치는 영향요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify factors on the user's intention of using mobile E-book based on TAM(Technology Acceptance Model). System quality(accessibility and convenience), information quality, and innovation as a user characteristics were chosen as the independent variable of this study, perceived easy of use and perceived usefulness were selected as potential variable, and user's use intention was selected as dependent variable. The survey was conducted by 170 high school students and structural equation modeling was used to analyze the relationships between factors. The results showed that information quality and the user's innovation have a positive impact on both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use while the other system factors did not affect perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use for mobile E-book. Finally, the perceived usefulness was found to have a positive impact on the user's intention to use mobile E-book.

A Study on the Reading Effectiveness by Collaborative Reading Practice of Teenagers (청소년의 자율 협력적 독서실행에 따른 독서유효성 효과 연구)

  • This study was to present a model of cooperative reading practice and verify reading effectiveness on youth. For this purpose, 68 reading clubs were established in 61 districts and 8 high schools. The research groups were classified as the poor reading group, the good reading group, and the mixed-skill reading group. The cooperative reading groups were carried out for four months. We developed a questionnaire on Reading effectiveness conducted it pre- and post-test, and analyzed the results through the SPSS statistical program. We found that there was a positive change in the reading effectiveness of youth and overall-the highest effectiveness was found in the poor reading group. In addition, there was a positive change in the reading behavior of youth. The change of reading effectiveness was found to affect reading behavior.

Curriculum Relevance Analysis of Physics Book Report Text Using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 활용한 물리학 독서감상문 텍스트의 교육과정 연계성 분석)

  • This study analyzed the relevance of the curriculum by applying topic modeling to book reports written as content area reading activities in the 'physics' class. In order to carry out the research, 332 physics book reports were collected to analyze the relevance among keywords and topics were extracted using STM. The result of the analysis showed that the main keywords of the physics book reports were 'thought', 'content', 'explain', 'theory', 'person', 'understanding'. To examine the influence and connection relationship of the derived keywords, the study presented degree centrality, between centrality, and eigenvetor centrality. As a result of the topic modeling analysis, eleven topics related to the physics curriculum were extracted, and the curriculum linkage could be drawn in three subjects (Physics I, Physics II, Science History), and six areas (force and motion, modern physics, wave, heat and energy, Western science history, and What is science). The analyzed results can be used as evidence for a more systematic implementation of content area reading activities which reflect the subject characteristics in the future.

Analysis of Status about Theses and Articles Related to Domestic STEAM Education (국내 STEAM 교육 연구 논문의 현황 분석)

  • The purpose of this research was to collect and select the theses and articles of the STEAM education in domestic and to analyze a research status by the review, then to suggest a direction of the further research in technology education. The objects of this research were the theses and articles of the STEAM education in domestic published from January 2007 to June 2016. I collected the theses and articles by using the search engine of the Korean Academic Information Service, the Korea Education and Research Information Service, the National Assembly Digital Library, and finally selected 821 theses and articles for the objects. I analyzed the theses and articles by verifying their subjects, abstracts and contents, and applied the analysis framework developed in advance. I used the frequency analysis, the cross analysis to analyze the datas statistically. Also, I used SPSS 18.0 program. Drawing on the finding of this research, major conclusions of this research were as follows. First, the researches of the STEAM education in domestic had been studied numerously from 2012 to 2015, but it has been decreased since 2016. Second, the researches of the STEAM education in domestic have been studied numerously for the development of the educational program and the instructional source. Third, the research objects of the STEAM education in domestic have been studied numerously for elementary school, middle school and high school in a row. Forth, the researches of the STEAM education in domestic have been focused numerously on a science. Fifth, the researches of the STEAM education in domestic have been concerned mainly about the creativity effect among other educational effects.
