Investigation on Direct Driven IPMSM for Next Generation Locomotive (차세대 전동차용 직접 구동용 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기의 특성 고찰)

  • The propulsion for locomotive application has changed from the DC motor system to the induction motor system. Although the induction motor system has almost reached the stage of maturity, this system also needs to be changed to the PM motor system for the direct drive without using reduction gear. Thus, the IPMSM (Interior buried Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) has been adopted to meet the locomotive driving specification. Where the wheel is directly dirven by the traction motor. In this paper, the investigation on IPMSM satisfying driving specifications for the direct drive has been performed using the advanced FEM.

High Density Cultivation of Methylobacillus sp. SK1 in Fed-Batch System (Methylobacillus sp. SK1의 고농도 유가배양)

  • Methylobacillus sp. SK1, an obligate methylotroph, was cultivated in a fed-batch culture using DO as a methanol feeding indicator with a micro computer-aided control system. While 2.07g/l of cell density was obtained after 13 hr in the batch culture (initial methanol concentration: 1.0%(v/v)),45.3g/l of cell density was obtained after 17 hr by feeding methanol and metal ions in the fed-batch culture with oxygen supply. The high-density biomass was obtained in short cultuivation time by fed-batch culture with feedback control, and consequently the biomass productivity was significantly increased. It was mainly due to extension of logarithmic growth period by methanol feeding without methanol inhibition and intensive aeration without DO limitation with microcomputer-aided control system.

  • The observation satellites which uses high heat-dissipating equipment such as synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites require a radiator to transmit heat from the equipment into outer space. However, during cold conditions it requires a heater to maintain the temperature of equipment within the allowable minimum limit when it is not in operation. In this study, we proposed a variable conductivity radiator that changes its thermal conductivity value through movement of the liquid metal between two reservoirs based on the temperature condition. This reduces the power consumption of the heater by limiting heat transfer path to the radiator in cold condition, while effectively transferring heat to the radiator during hot condition. The feasibility of the proposed radiator was validated through comparison of the thermal control performance with the conventional fixed conductivity radiator via a thermal analysis.

  • Many of multimedia applications in distributed environments generate the packets which have the real-time characteristics for continuous audio/video data and transmit them according to the teal-time task scheduling theories. In this paper, we model the traffic for continuous media in the distributed multimedia applications based on the high-bandwidth networks and introduce the PDMA algorithm which is the hard real-time task scheduling theory for guaranteeing QoS requested by the clients. Furthermore, we propose the admission control to control the new request not to interfere the current services for maintaining the high quality of services of the applications. Since the proposed admission control is sufficient for the PDMA algorithm, the PDMA algorithm is always able to find the feasible schedule for the set of messages which satisfies it. Therefore, if the set of messages including the new request to generate the new traffic. Otherwise, it rejects the new request. In final, we present the simulation results for showing that the scheduling with the proposed admission control is of practical use.

Aggregated Encoder Control Exploiting Interlayer Statistical Characteristics for Advanced Terrestrial-DMB (지상파 DMB 고도화망에서 계층간 통계적 특성을 이용한 통합 부호기 제어)

  • The SVC (Scalable Video Coding) scheme can be effectively used for reducing the redundancy and for improving the coding efficiency but, it requires very high computational complexities. In order to accelerate the successful standardization and commercialization of the Advanced Terrestrial-DMB service, it is necessary to overcome this problem. For this aim, in this paper, we propose an efficient aggregated encoder control algorithm, which shows better performances than the conventional control scheme. Computer simulation result shows that the proposed scheme performs about up to 0.3dB better than those of the conventional scheme. Additionally, based on this control scheme, we propose a fast mode decision method by constraining the redundant coding modes based on the statistical properties of the quantization parameter in the spatial scalable encoder. Through computer simulations, it is shown that the proposed control schemes reduce the heavy computational burden up to 12% compared to the conventional scheme, while keeping the objective visual qualify very high.

Development of Algorithm for Advanced Driver Assist based on In-Wheel Hybrid Driveline (인휠 전기 구동 기반의 능동안전지원 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper presents the development of an adaptive cruise control (ACC) system, which is one of the typical advanced driver assist systems, for 4-wheel drive hybrid in-wheel electric vehicles. The front wheels of the vehicle are driven by a combustion engine, while its rear wheels are driven by in-wheel motors. This paper proposes an adaptive cruise control system which takes advantage of the unique driveline configuration presented herein, while the proposed power distribution algorithm guarantees its tracking performance and fuel efficiency at the same time. With the proposed algorithm, the vehicle is driven only by the engine in normal situations, while the in-wheel motors are used to distribute the power to the rear wheels if the tracking performance decreases. This paper also presents the modeling of the in-wheel motors, hybrid in-wheel driveline, and integrated ACC control system based on a commercial high-precision vehicle dynamics model. The simulation results obtained with the model are presented to confirm the performance of the proposed algorithm.

Design of High Frequency Boosting Circuits Compensating for Hearing Loss (청력 보정을 위한 고주파 증폭 회로 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a high frequency boosting circuits compensating for age-related hearing loss. The frequency response of this hearing loss is quite similar to that of a low-pass filter of which the critical frequency get lower with age. Therefore the voltage gain of this compensation circuits increase proportionally to the frequency of signals when the frequency is higher than the critical frequency and the voltage is constant irrespective of the frequency of signals when the frequency is lower than the critical frequency. The proposed circuits consist of a differential circuit and a unity gain amplifier. Because the critical frequency of the proposed circuits is controlled simply in the shape of a volume control lever, the aged people can adjust the high frequency boosting level easily according to one's hearing loss level. The critical frequency is continuously controllable in the whole audible frequency band and the gain of this high frequency boosting circuits is above 80dB at 10kHz.

  • 본 논문은 GPS를 이용한 무인 비행체의 자율비행에 관한 연구를 다루었다. 비행체의 종류는 크게 고정익기와 회전익기로 나뉘는데 본 연구에서는 회전익기의 형태를 가진 Quarter Vehicle을 사용하였다. Quarter Vehicle은 4개의 프로펠러에 의한 양력과 회전 반발력으로 비행을 한다. 이때의 양력은 수평면에 대해 수직으로 추력을 발생시키므로 다른 비행체보다 불안정하며 이를 안정하게 제어하기 위해 관성 센서를 적용하여 균형을 유지한다. 본 연구에서는 UAV의 자세와 균형을 안정적으로 유지하기 위해 관성센서를 적용하였으며 GPS를 활용하여 독립적인 자율비행이 가능하도록 하였다. 정확한 위치정보를 제공하는 GPS는 3개 이상의 위성으로부터 시간 및 위치 정보를 받아 좌표를 계산하고 비행체의 위치, 속도 및 방향을 결정하여 자율 비행이 가능하도록 한다. 또한 초형 지자기센서를 비행체에 적용하여 GPS의 방향 정보를 보완하도록 하였다. 본 논문에서는 무인 비행체의 자율비행의 기초가 되는 위치좌표 계산을 위한 GPS의 적용 방법과 비행경로계획 알고리즘을 제시 한다.

  • 1960년대 중반부터 이미 고압 나트륨램프에 사용되어 오던 반투명의 세라믹 재료(Polycrystalline Ceramic Alumina ; PCA)를 기존 메탈핼라이드램프의 석영(Quartz) 발광관에 적용시킨 세라믹 메탈핼라이드(Ceramic Metal Halide ; CMH) 램프는 1995년 처음 소개된 이래 색 제어, 연색성, 광속유지율 등에서 전통적인 석영 메탈핼라이드(Quartz Metal Halide ; QMH)램프보다 우수한 특성을 가지고 있어 저와트급(150W이하)에서 고와트급에 이르기까지 폭넓게 사용되어지고 있으며 현재 국내에서도 이러한 CMH램프의 개발이 진행 중이다. 본 논문에서는 CMH램프의 우수한 특성을 살펴보기 위하여 국외 선진제품에 대한 전기적, 광학적 특성을 살펴보았으며 실험 결과 CMH 램프의 광속유지 율이 기존 QMH 램프보다 우수한 특성을 갖는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Rel-time application programs have constraints which need to be met between media-data. It is client-leading synchronization that is absorbing variable transmission delay time and that is synchronizing by feedback control and palyout control. It is the important factor for playback rate and QoS if the buffer level is normal or not. This paper, The method of maintenance buffer normal state transmits in multimedia server by appling feedback of filtering function. And synchronization method is processing adaptive playout time for smooth presentation without cut-off while media frame is skip. When audio frame which is master media is in upper threshold buffer level we decrease play out time gradually, low threshold buffer level increase it slowly.
