  • This study's objective is to identify the factors that effect high school students' volunteer activities and suggest the political implications for the actual fulfillment of volunteer activities. We verified the relationships and effects on all factors based on the theory of planned behavior which is applied in explaining various human behavior. 220 high school student subjects for this study were randomly selected and filled out self-administered questionnaires. A total of 216 responses were used for analysis. Data analysis was done by obtaining reliability and validity after frequency analysis using SPSS 12.0 for Windows and AMOS 4.0 as well as evaluating the suitability of the study model. Regression analysis was carried out for hypothesis testing. The study results showed that firstly, all hypotheses based on the theory of planned behavior were supported re-confirming the usefulness of the theory in the field of various behavioral research for social welfare. Secondly, among all factors, perceived behavioral control showed to be the most influential in fulfilling active volunteer activities of high school students. Based on the results of our study, we proposed that research in the social welfare academia, practical endeavors in the educational field, and also political support system is necessary.

  • The purpose of this study is to test the mediating effect of coping plan and action plan in the relation between leisure-time physical activity(LTPA) intention and exercise behavior and to extend the literature in theory of planned behavior. We examined the mediating role of implementation plan-namely coping plan and action plan in the effect of intention to physical activity on exercise behavior. To attain the goal of study, we asked collegiate students (n=253; male=118, female=105) report their intention toward LTPA, coping plan, action plan, and self-reported exercise behavior. Collected data was analyzed using statistical program software (i.e., SPSS, AMOS) for SEM and mediation analyses. The results revealed that intention toward LTPA was positively related to implementation plan (coping plan and action plan) and exercise behavior. Collegiate students' intention toward LTPA positively predicted their exercise behavior mediated by implementation plans. Specifically, LTPA intention among collegiate students predicted their exercise behavior via coping plan and action plan. The findings showed that coping plan and action plan partially mediated in the relation between LTPA intention and exercise behavior. In conclusion, students' intention to be getting physical active in leisure-time physical activity explains lifetime physical activity or the level of recent exercise behavior possibly via coping plan (e.g., how to overcome barriers to exercise) and action plan (e.g., when and where I exercise and get physically active). The conceptualization of coping plan and action plan in implementation plans and test of its model better to explain the intention-behavior gap would help exercise instructors or practitioners effectively develop their plans and strategies toward targeted exercise behavior.

  • This study aims to analyze the intention of public library use of citizens by applying Ajzen's extended theory of planned behavior (ETPB). A questionnaire survey was conducted to identify the relationship between personal characteristics, factors from ETPB, such as attitude, subject norm, and perceived behavioral control, and the intention of public library use, Library knowledge was also added as an additional independent factor in this study. The results showed that attitude and library knowledge were more important factors than others. Subject norm and perceived behavioral control had also positive effects on the intention, Additionally, some personal characteristics, such as age, educational background, and household income, and public library use experience made significant differences in the intention. Based on the results, this study made some suggestions for expanding the scope of public library users.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects influencing path behaviors of pre-service childcare teachers to present the educational and social welfare measures for promoting children's character development and preventing the alienation of the elderly. The subjects for this study are 176 students who completed the childcare teacher course in four universities located in G city and J province. The scale of this study utilized modified, supplemented scale used in previous studies[1][2] that was constituted for a newly transformed model based on planned behavior theories. The contents of research design include salience beliefs such as attitude beliefs, normative beliefs, control beliefs, etc. as well as a model of planned behavior theories such as attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, behavior intension, behavior, etc. This study conducted frequency analysis and regression analysis for the data collected by using the SPSS 18.0 for Windows. From the results of verification, all hypothesis was supported. Thus, usefulness of this theory was reconfirmed, and the results of this study are to be utilized as basic materials for professionals who make every endeavor in a perspective of children's character development and in a perspective of reducing alienation phenomenon of the elderly.

  • Speeding is a critical issue related to safety. It is one of violations which result in high fatality regarding the crashes causing the death. It is also affected by driver s variables such as sex, age, or mileage. However, these demographic variables cannot only explain fully the psychological mechanisms of speeding but also they are not helpful for the traffic safety education. Therefore, in our study, focusing on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), we explored the effects of attitudes toward speeding as well as subjective norms and perceived behavioral control on the intention and behaviors of speeding in which the demographic variables were controlled. Moreover, because speeding can be habitual without driver s intention, we did hierarchical regression on Past behaviors or habit as variables with ought, anger, and impulse as Predictable variables. The result showed that it was significant that TPB variables predicted intention and behavior of speeding. In addition. all additional variables excepting ought and anger showed the significant increment of the explained variance. Consequently, the limitations and implications for the intervention program of speeding were discussed.

  • This study was performed to determine correlation on oral health behavior and variables of planned behavior theory before and after oral health education. 62 male inpatient alcoholics conducted the structured self-administered questionnaires, and subjects were taken oral health education for 4 weeks. To analysis data, the correlation analysis was conducted. The education group showed a significant positive correlation with oral health behavior and behavior intention, attitude toward behavior, subjective norm, perceive behavior control after oral health education. The relevant variables after the oral health education displayed a higher correlation coefficient and relation in the education group. It suggested an evidence that regular oral health education should be applied to promote oral health for alcoholic inpatients.

  • When new information communication technologies(ICTs) have appeared, researchers and praticitioners have explored how to spread the technologies. In e-commerce, social commerce has been introduced recently and attempts to understand social commerce have proposed diverse research models. This study proposed a hypothetical model which integrates technology readiness(TR), technology acceptance model(TAM), and theory of planned behavior(TPB). Through PLS path modeling, we found that every hypothesis except social norm-intention path alone proved significant. This result means that integrated model is useful to understand the adoption of new ICTs including social commerce. Finally, based on the findings, suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • When consumers choose healthy foods, they base their buying decisions on health-related food labeling and quality assessment of taste, health, and price. Moreover, both purchase experience and opinions of family and friends affect consumer choices. Focusing on these points, this study examined the effects of health-related food labeling on consumer choices by adding two variables-quality assessment of taste, health, and price and purchase experience-to the model of the theory of planned behavior. We also used structural equation modeling to test our hypotheses. In the study, health-related food labeling includes organic labeling, nutrient claims, and food additive labeling. We conducted a mail survey among 300 married women who buy cheese slices for their children more than once a month. It was discovered that health-related food labeling positively affected the level of quality assessment of taste, health, and price, and consequently led to positive attitudes and purchase intentions. Particularly, health-related food labeling positively influenced attitude toward using products without assessing the quality of taste, health, and price. The level of quality assessment of price positively affected attitude toward using and purchasing products, and purchase experience positively affected attitude toward using and purchasing products, and purchase intentions. The relationship between attitude to purchasing products and purchase intentions was the most positive, and the relationship between perceived behavioral control and purchase intentions was not significant. Overall, this study essentially contributes to the development of a theoretical framework of food labeling and consumer choices, which includes quality assessment of taste, health, and price and purchase experience, by using the theory of planned behavior.
