Recently, a new theoretical and methodological approach for computational science is becoming more and more popular for analyzing and solving scientific problems in various scientific disciplines and applied research. Computational science is a field of study concerned with constructing mathematical models and quantitative analysis techniques and using large computing resources to solve the problems which are difficult to approach in a physical experimentally. In this paper, we present R&D of EDISON open integration platform that allows anyone like professors, researchers, industrial workers, students etc to upload their advanced research result such as simulation SW to use and share based on the cyber infrastructure of supercomputer and network. EDISON platform, which consists of 3 tiers (EDISON application framework, EDISON middleware, and EDISON infra resources) provides Web portal for education and research in 5 areas (CFD, Chemistry, Physics, Structural Dynamics, Computational Design) and user service.
Quantitative risk analysis has been performed for a pervaporation process for production of high test peroxide. Potential main accidents are explosion and fire caused by a decomposition reaction. As the target process has a laboratory scale, the consequence is considered to belong to Category 3. An event tree has been developed as a model for occurrence of a decomposition reaction in the target process. The probability functions of the accident causes have been established based on the frequency data of similar events. Using the constructed model, the failure rate has been calculated. The result indicates that additional safety devices are required in order to achieve an acceptable risk level, i.e. an accident frequency less than $10^{-4}/yr$. Therefore, a layer of protection analysis has been applied. As a result, it is suggested to introduce inherently safer design to avoid catalytic reaction, a safety instrumented function to prevent overheating, and a relief system that prevents explosion even if a decomposition reaction occurs. The proposed method is expected to contribute to developing safety management systems for various chemical processes including concentration of hydrogen peroxide.
In this paper, we design a semantic-based syllabus template including learning ontologies. A syllabus has been considered as a important blueprint of teaching in universities. However, the current syllabus has no importance in real world because most of all syllabus management systems provide simple functionalities such as, creation, modification, and retrieval. In this paper, our approach consists of definition of hierarchical structure of syllabus and semantic relationships of syllabuses, formalization of learning goals, learning activity, and learning evaluation using Bloom's taxonomy and design of learning subject ontologies for improving the usability of syllabus. We prove the correctness of our proposed methods according to implementing a real syllabus for JAVA programing course and experiments for retrieving syllabuses.

Current power systems are distributed geographically and operated in the form of Energy Management System(EMS)/ Supervision Control and Data Acquisition(SCADA) with the aid of computers and communications. Recently a variety of utilities have had interests in using inforrration technology to bring the efficiency and low operational costs. There is also a trend to integrdte the production, transmission, distribution and management/control of power into one and unified distributed system. To this end, Electric Power Hesearch Institute(EPRI) announced a new standard communication protocol called Inter-Control Center Protocol(ICCP).ICCP specifies the use of Manufacturing Message Specification(MMS) for services required by rccr in application layer and supports the communications between heterogeneous control centers. This paper presents the characteristics of MMS,ICCP and their relationship. Futherrnore, we implement the basic functional blocks of ICCP using MMS services under TCI/IP environments. Finally, we model a simple power system and apply the rccp protocol to this system in a window-based scheme, and finally show the operation and validation of this protocol.

This paper suggested the optimal operating design method using simulation and ANP(Analytic Network Process) for mass-customization in the automotive component manufacturing industry. For this, first of all, we built the simulation model including various and complex factors in the field, and estimated the meta-model by RSM(Response Surface Method). Secondly using ANP, we calculated the weight of relative importance of evaluation factors gathered from decision makers. And then, we proposed the optimal operation designs by MOGA(Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm), analyzed results of them. Moreover, by comparing the results with the consequences using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), we showed its superiority of suggested method to the manner using AHP, because it reflects inner, outer dependency, and inter-relation among judgement factors. In conclusion, through this process, we can present the better way to serve mover effective, precise, and accurate information to decision makers when they build operation design for mass-customization system as automotive parts production system.
This paper presents a new method to detect attack patterns in security-critical systems, based on a new notion of Behavior Ontology. Generally security-critical systems are large and complex, and they are subject to be attacked in every possible way. Therefore it is very complicated to detect various attacks through a semantic structure designed to detect such attacks. This paper handles the complication with Behavior Ontology, where patterns of attacks in the systems are defined as a sequences of actions on the class ontology of the systems. We define the patterns of attacks as sequences of actions, and the attack patterns can then be abstracted in a hierarchical order, forming a lattice, based on the inclusion relations. Once the behavior ontology for the attack patterns is defined, the attacks in the target systems can be detected both semantically and hierarchically in the ontology structure. When compared to other attack models, the behavior ontology analysis proposed in this paper is found to be very effective and efficient in terms of time and space.
Although service robots in various fields are being commercialized, most of them have problems that depend on explicit commands by users and have difficulty to generate robust reactions of the robot in the unstable condition using insufficient sensor data. To solve these problems, we modeled mirror neuron and theory of mind systems, and applied them to a robot agent to show the usefulness. In order to implement quick and intuitive response of the mirror neuron, the proposed intention-response model utilized behavior selection networks considering external stimuli and a goal, and in order to perform reactions based on the long-term action plan of theory of mind system, we planned behaviors of the sub-goal unit using a hierarchical task network planning, and controled behavior selection network modules. Experiments with various scenarios revealed that appropriate reactions were generated according to external stimuli.
Software product-lines is the software development paradigm to attain the rapid development of quality applications by customizing the reconfigurable components and composing them based on predefined software architectures. Recently various methodologies for the component-based product lines are proposed, but these don't provide the specific implementation techniques of the components in terms of variability resolution mechanism. In other hand, the several approaches to implement the component supporting the variabilities resolution are developed, but these don't define the systematic analysis and design method considering the variabilities from the initial phase. This paper proposes the integration of PLUS, the one of product line methodologies extending UML modeling, and component code generation technique in order to increase the efficiency of producing the specific product in the software product lines. In this paper, the component has the hierarchical architecture consisting of the implementation elements, and each implementation elements are implemented as XSLT scripts. The codes of the components are generated from the feature selection. Using the microwave oven product lines as case study, the development process for the reconfigurable components supporting the automatic variability resolution is described.
In this paper, we performed the analysis of transmission performance for Collision Free Period(CFP) supported by the low-power communication technology, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC (Media Access Control). For the analysis, periodic traffic, original service target of CFP, is considered and, according to the Quality of Service required, packet arrival pattern to MAC layer is categorized as batch and non-batch, and analysis on throughput, delay, and energy is performed for those patterns. On the basis of the obtained analysis, performance comparison with Collision Avoidance Period(CAP) is carried out for the health care applications that generate periodic traffic such as Pedometer, ECG, EMG. The evaluation confirms that CFP is more energy efficient for healthcare applications that generate periodic and time-critical traffic and moreover for the application with high bandwidth requirement CFP achieves up to 46% energy savings compared to CAP.
There is a need for a system independent human data format that doesn't depend on a specific graphics tool or program to use interoperable human data in a network environment. To achieve this, the Web3D Consortium and ISO/IEC JTC1 WG6 developed the international draft standard ISO/IEC 19774 Humanoid Animation(H-Anim). H-Anim defines the data structure for an articulated human figure, but it does not yet define the data for human motion generation. This paper discusses a method of obtaining compatibility and independence of motion data between application programs, and describes a method of simplifying motion retargetting necessary for motion definition of H-Anim characters. In addition, it describes a method of generating H-Anim character animation using arbitrary 3D character models and arbitrary motion capture data without any inter-relations, and its implementation results.
