Efficient Entropy Coding Method for Scalable Video Coding (스케일러블 비디오 부호화를 위한 효율적인 엔트로피 부호화 방법)

  • Generally existing video codec employs entropy coding to deal with residual signals with considering temporal and spatial properties. Scalable Video Coding(SVC) which is extension of H.264/AVC has three technical concepts for removing redundancies between inter-layers. In spite of using novel prediction method between inter-layers in SVC, it is still using same entropy coding method to residual signals. According to the studies, the residual obtained by inter-layer prediction technique has different features of residual signal acquired by spatial or temporal prediction technique. In this paper, we propose an efficient entropy coding method which codes the residual signal obtained by inter-layer prediction with regarding its features adequately. We re-designed the Coded Block Pattern(CBP) table suitably for inter-layer texture prediction. The experiments show that the proposed method can further reduce the BD-Bitrate up to average 2.20% in 4CIF and 1.14% in CIF resolution compared to the existing JSVM 9.18.

  • 인터넷에 이동성을 부여하기 위한 기술은 호스트 이동성을 넘어 네트워크 전체에 이동성을 부여하는 이동 네트워크 기술로 접어들고 있다. 네트워크 이동성은 Mobile IP 기술을 확장한 MR­HA 간 bidirectional 터널을 통해 지원될 수 있다. 그러나 다수의 이동네트워크가 중첩될 경우 각 네트워크의 MR­HA 터널이 중복되는 dog­leg routing 문제가 발생하게 되고, 이것은 결국 심각한 패킷 전송 지연과 네트워크 트래픽 증가, 불 필요한 시그널 메시지 증가라는 문제를 발생시키게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Mobile IPv6 기반의 이동 네트워크에서 계층적 알고리즘을 적용하여 경로최적화를 하는 프로토콜의 설계에 대해 논하고자 한다. 계층적 접근방안은 중첩된 이동네트워크 구조와 잘 부합되며, 기존의 Mobile IPv6 기술을 사용하여 쉽게 구현될 수 있다.

  • 도로네트워크 데이터는 교통 정보, 경로 안내서비스 등 실시간 정보제공을 위해 차량 항법용 데이터에서 가장 핵심적인 영역에 해당하며 효율적인 관리와 유지가 필수적이다. 기존 파일 기반 시스템인 미디어 포맷(KIWI, GDF 등)에서는 콤팩트한 데이터 구성으로 읽기 위주의 빠른 매체 접근 등에 좋은 이점이 있지만, 최근 모바일 시스템 환경에 DBMS를 활용한 위치 기반 서비스(LBS)에 대한 관심이 증가 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 임베디드 DBMS를 이용하여 네트워크의 계층성을 지원하는 데이터 모델과 이를 활용한 탐색 알고리듬을 설계하고 프로토타입 시스템을 구현하였다. 특히 대규모 도로망의 원거리 탐색을 대상으로 메모리 구성과 탐색 시간 측면에서 일반 영역 탐색방법과 계층 탐색방법의 검색 결과를 비교하여 계층 탐색 방법의 효율성을 검증하였다.

  • A probe was designed to study the relationship of photon flux path and layered properties of bilogical tissue. The result shows that different wavelengths have different flux path and maximum reflectance position with separation. The source-detector separations on maximum reflectance of IR and GR were 7.5 mm and 2.5 mmm each other and layered properties of tissue can be discriminated bye the change of S-D separation using designed probe.

  • In this paper, a real-time web-casting framework for many individuals or small organizations imploring internet broadcasting, is designed and implemented. It is the purpose of the proposed framework that any individual can easily construct his own broadcast station if he has minimum facility for the content transmission to the framework. This type of system should have a flexible architecture to be applicable in wide variation of operational environment. Since the proposed framework follows a component-based hierarchical structure consisting of 3 types of components, it can effectively cope with change of internal or external operational environment by simple modification of the associated component with the change. Also, various types of target application systems in the aspects of cost and performance can be constructed in accordance with how to associate upper layer components with hardware platforms. A real prototype system based on the proposed framework is implemented, and then the response delay time is measured under varying number of content productions and content receivers. The results show that the response delay time follows M/M/1 model, which is one of the well-known performance models, and the implemented system may accommodate from 16 to 20 productions.

  • This paper discussed to the ATM traffic measurement and analysis tool for analyzing the ATM traffic properties. This tool was applied at the ATM commercial network. The analysis result is verified effectivity to improve network resource from 20% to 50%. Thus, this tool usefully can be used to network plan for the network expansion and new network building. Also, it can be used to the demand estimation of the ATM network traffic.

  • In this paper, a new handover procedure for OFDM-based multi-hop relay systems is proposed to reduce the handover overhead by distinguishing inter-cell handover event from intra-cell handover event at the level of physical layer using a hierarchical design concept of preamble. A Subcell ID concept for identifying RS in a cell is proposed in the design of hierarchical manner, in addition to the existing Cell ID for identifying BS. The decision on either inter-cell handover or intra-cell handover is made by the signal quality measure of CBINR(Carrier of BS to Interference and Noise Ratio) and CRINR(Carrier of RS to Interference and Noise Ratio), provided by the hierarchical preamble. The proposed handover procedure can simplify scanning procedure and skip/simplify network re-entry procedure (capability negotiation, authorization, registration), resulting in a significant reduction of handover overhead.

  • In security layer in the CDMA2000 1x EV-DO, a standard - C.S0024-a v2.0 is being accomplished under the project of 3GPP2(3rd Generation Partnership Project2). Therefore, a security device is needed to implement the security layer which is defined on the standard document for data transfer security between AT(Access Terminal) and AN(Access Network) on CDMA2000 1x EV-DO environment. This paper realizes the security layer system that can make safe and fast transfer of data between AT and AN. It could be applied to various platform environments by designing and implementing the Security Layer in the CDMA2000 1x EV-DO Security Layer to which applies C.S0024-A v2.0 of 3GPP2.

  • 기능분석은 발전소의 안전성에 관련된 중요한 기능들을 계층적으로 규명하고 기능의 목적, 관련되는 발전소변수, 기능간의 연관관계 등을 파악하고자 수행하며 과는 기능할당 운전원과 자동화시스템간의 역할부담을 결정하기 위해 활용된다. 기존의 발전소에 비하여 자동화시스템의 적극적인 활용이 기대되는 KALIMER MMIS는 운전원과 자동화시스템의 역할에 대한 체계적인 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 KALIMER MMIS 설계시 수행하는 발전소기능분석 및 기능할당에 대한 수행전학을 제시하고, 기능분석을 지원할 수 있는 지원시스템인 FAI(Function Analysis Interface)를 개발하였다.

  • In this paper, the hardware design of a transmission convergence sublayer(TC) for boradband wireless access system is described, which performs (1) formatting TC PDUs to MAC PDUs, (2) RS encoding/decoding, (3) providing various control signal to PHY modem. The TC hardware has been designed in VHDL, and successfully synthesized in an FPGA chip.
