  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the expected earnings differentials by major of university graduates. Usually the achievement in labor market has been measured by the earnings of those being with job. But such simple comparisons of earnings might fail to bring out correct evaluation once if the probabilities of getting a job are quite different across the major of university graduates. So it is necessary to compare the expected lifetime eatings which can be computed using the earnings of those with job and the probabilities of taking a job. In this paper, we showed that the expected earings of university graduates are quite different by major and not only the difference of earnings but also the difference of job-taking probabilities are considerably contributing such differentials. Especially the expected earnings of medicine and education are considerably higher than those of other majors. These results are maintained almost identically with the change of estimation methods. But despite of these findings. it should be admitted that it was not possible to exactly measure the magnitude of differentials by major.

And We analysed to find out whether there are differences in academic achievements by grades, curriculum of each major fields. There were no significant statistical differences in academic achievements by grade, curriculum of the two different university major fields. Futhermore, as a results of analysis on level(high, medium, low) distribution and differences of academic achievements by grade, curriculum of the two different university major fields, there were no statistically meaningful results. There is the need to keep entrance selection systems that open the possibility of selecting the students with other academic background. And there is the need to change general awareness assuming that there are differences in academic achievements by university major fields. We need to guide students with belief of their learning possibility.

  • The rapid development of a software-core society emphasizes the importance of software competence as a basic condition for all academic disciplines. The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference of perceptions among students of basic software education which is currently being conducted in university. The results of applying the nine core elements of Computational Thinking for Problem Solving to the learners of the each majors are as follows. In humanities, learners mainly applied the elements of Data Collection, Problem Decomposition and Automation. On the other hand, natural science department learners mainly applied the elements of Data Analysis, Algorithm and Automation. In addition, arts learners mainly applied elements of Data Representation, Abstraction, and Automation. To apply Computational Thinking to the development of software, humanities learners mainly applied elements of Data Collection, Algorithm, Automation. On the other hand, natural science department learners mainly applied the elements of Data Analysis, Algorithm and Automation. In addition, arts learners mainly applied elements of Data Representation, Abstraction, and Automation. Based on the results of this study, it is expected that the educational effectiveness of the learner will be maximized by including the learner analysis with each majors in the design of the basic software curriculum that each university is conducting.
