Analysis of the Equivalent Circuits of the )-Dimensional Stepped Discontinuity in Microstrip Lines (계단형 3차원 구조를 갖는 마이크로스트립 선로의 등가회로 해석)

  • A microstrip circuit with multilayer structure is applied variously in the MMIC. For effective transmission between microstrip lines with different dielectric height, it is need to analyze and to induce accurately the equivalent circuit in 3 dimensional stepped discontinuous microstrip line. In this paper, by using the S parameters obtained by FDTD numerical method and measurement, T equivalent circuit and its element values were induced. And the analyzed and measured results showed good agreement in 1 ∼5 ㎓ range.

  • The finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is applied to analyze a single step microstrip discontinuity in the substrate, and an equivalent circuit model comprised of two inductors and a capacitor has been developed using the numerical results. The microstrip discontinuity newly introduced in this paper has a thickness change of the substrate in the longitudinal direction with a uniform strip width. The discontinuity can be applied to the feeding circuit design for the patch antennas and interconnections between microwave circuit modules. The simulation results are compared with those computed by HFSS, and two results showed a good agreement. An equivalent circuit developed from the FDTD results, which is accurate within 2.4% in magnitudes of $S_{11}$ and $S_{21}$,can be applied for the computer-aided design of microwave circuits.

  • In order to reduce the size of the previous stepped slot antenna for UWB applications(3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz) to half, an open ended stepped slot antenna is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a stepped slot etched on the ground plane as radiation part and a microstrip feed-line with rectangular patch on the top plane for wideband impedance matching. The proposed antenna is designed and fabricated on the FR4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm and size of $28.5{\times}32mm^2$. The measured impedance bandwidth (${\mid}S_{11}{\mid}{\leq}-10dB$) of the fabricated antenna is 7.99 GHz(3.01~11 GHz) which is sufficient to cover UWB band (3.1 ~ 10.6 GHz). In particular, it has been observed that antenna has a good omnidirectional radiation patterns and high gain over the entire frequency band of interest even though the size of the proposed antenna is reduced to half when compared with the previous antenna.

  • 양자점 감응형 태양전지는 가시광 영역을 흡수, 이용할 수 있는 광감응 물질로 무기물 양자점을 사용하며, 이 경우 나노미터 크기의 무기물 양자점으로 인한 양자제한 효과 (quantum confinement effect)에 의해 양자점의 사이즈 조절 만으로 밴드갭을 조절할 수 있어 광학적 특성 조절이 용이하며, 하나의 광자를 흡수하여 두개 이상의 전자-정공쌍을 만들 수 있는 (multiple exciton generation) 가능성이 있어 기존 태양전지가 가지는 이론적 한계효율(Shockley-Queisser limit)을 뛰어넘을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 양자점 및 염료 감응형 태양전지분야에서 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 TiO2 다공성 필름이 아닌, ZnO 나노선 구조를 이용하여 양자점 감응형 태양전지를 제작하였다. ZnO의 경우 TiO2보다 높은 전자이동도를 가지며, 나노선 구조가 바닥전극까지 수직 연결된 1차원의 전자전달경로를 제공하여 결과적으로 광전자 포집에 유리하다. 또한, CdS, CdSe 양자점을 동시에 사용하여 광흡수 범위를 가시광 전 영역으로 확장하였으며, 계단형 밴드구조를 통해 광전자-정공 분리 및 포집을 용이하게 하였다. 더 나아가 전해질의 조성, 나노선의 길이 등 다양한 부분을 조절하면서 각 변수가 소자의 효율에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다.

  • In this paper, we introduce the advanced compact transmission line with periodic stepped stubs. They are more effective than normal stubs in ATL. The short stepped stubs loading of transmission line work as effective shunt capacitance and that was proved by equivalent circuit based on transmission line theory and quasi-static analysis. And the compact branch-line coupler and the compact rat-race coupler via proposed compact microstrip line were designed at 1.8 ㎓. They have 677 ㎟ and 913 ㎟, respectively, and they are 62% and 45% of normal design.

  • Step discontinuities of microstrip lines are analyzed using the mode-matching technique based on the well-known waveguide model. Including higher-order modes, the generalized scattering matrices are obtained. Asymmetrical step discontinuities as well as symmetrical step discontinuities are analyzed. The resonance characteristics of microstrip patches are calculated by cascading two microstrip step discontinuities through a uniform microstrip line. Experimental results agree well with theroretical ones.

  • Approximate design formulse for bandpass filter using stepped microstrip lines are derived. The coupling length of which can be adjusted according to the factor K.Some advantages fo this filter, thus, are the abilities to control the size and shape by changing the structure of the resonator. Using the design formulas an experimental filter was designed and fabricated . The experimental results have been agree with the designed ones, and hence, the validity of the proposed method has been confirmed.

  • As the wooden aircraft in the early times has no way to let lightning flow when lighting flash attaches during flight, the aircraft got damage, or caught fire. Though all metal airplane was developed with an advent of aluminum, a lightning accident still occurred including a fire of a fuel tanks. Eventually, NACA declared problems in 1938, and an artificial lightning test began. III succession, FAA established Airworthiness Requirements for certification. The FAA committed test measures study for the protection of an airplane from lightning to SAE. SAE presented the test current and voltage waveforms that simulating natural lightning, and it is utilized on lightning protection certification of an airplane by public. A lightning effects of an airplane through an analysis of lightning mechanism was made in this technical note. Especially, lightning direct effects on aircraft are analyzed and lightning strike zones are described.

  • Position of stop line according to left turn trajectory at intersections was studied. The Purpose of this study is to suggest a design guideline of left turn trajectory at intersections which is related to the Position of cross road stop line. Distance from the curb line to the stop line at each lane was calculated and discussed for various combination of road widths. Three design vehicle type and three control radii were considered. Setbacks of stop line from the curb line are Proportional to the control radius which depends on type of design vehicle. 8m, lim and 19m setback for control radius of 12m, 15m and 23m were calculated respectively as their maximum value. This result will be helpful to Paint the road marking on the Pavement which is usually difficult to fit to the designated radius. Field study of the effect of left turn trajectory on flow rate and safety was conducted. It was approved that improperly designed left turn trajectory decreases left turn capacity and increases conflicts among left turn flows of the adjacent lane.

  • In this paper, the design of a new bandstop filter with an ultra-wide stopband is proposed using the metamaterial CRLH-TL. Instead of conventional periodic structures and multi-staged CRLH-TLs, extremely small one-cell type is adopted to circumvent the setbacks of conventional filters such as the lengthened ${\lambda}_g/2$-resonator ones or alternating impedance lowpass filter, and relatively slow skirt. Besides, for a very broad stopband, a strong coupling structure including stepped impedances is suggested and the zero-order resonance is made for effective size-reduction. The validity of the proposed design is proven through the fabrication and measurement, showing the overall size less than ${\lambda}_g/10$, the stopband wider than 12 GHz, 0.7 dB of the insertion loss.
