A Change of Vegetation at the Ecological Restoration Area of Simwon Valley in Jirisan National Park (지리산국립공원 심원계곡 생태경관 복원공사지역 식생 변화)

  • This study aims to obtain basic data for systematic restoration by analyzing the monitoring results of the Shimwon Valley Ecological Landscape Restoration Project area in Jirisan National Park. In 2017, when the restoration project was completed, 12 monitoring plots and 4 control plots were installed for vegetation monitoring, and changes in the relative dominance, species diversity index and similarity between 2017 and 2020 were analyzed. The species diversity index of the surveyed areas where trees were planted during the restoration project was 0-1.4552, and the similarity index with the control group was 0% except for one survey area at 1.32%. The very low species diversity index and similarity index in the survey areas were attributed to the loss of trees planted during the restoration project due to death, damage by wild boars, or erosion by running water. On the other hand, the species diversity index was 0.9538-2.3222 in the monitoring plot where no tree was planted, and the similarity index was analyzed to be as high as 8.33%. It is necessary to continue the long-term monitoring for the development of ecological landscape restoration methods in the national park and analysis of the succession in monitoring plots where no trees were planted.

  • 달의 지형 중 계곡과 같아 보이는 곳을 Rima 또는 Rille 지형이라고 부르며 국제천문연맹(IAU : nternational Astronomical Union)과 미국지질조사국(USGS : United States Geological Survey)에서 관리하는 행성 지명 사전(Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature)에 명명된 달의 Rima 지역은 111개에 이른다. 그 중 Rima Hadley 지역은 아폴로 15호가 착륙한 지점으로 잘 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 2008년에 발사된 Chandrayaan-1 위성의 적외선 초분광 영상 탑재체인 Moon Mineralogy Mapper(M3) 데이터를 통해 Rima Hadley 지역의 분광학적 특성을 살펴보았다. M3 데이터는 감람석(olivine)이 풍부한 지역에서는 1 um 를 중심으로 흡수선이 나타남을 보이며, (Peter J. Isaacson et al., 2011) 2.8 um 중심의 흡수선을 통해 달의 OH(hydroxyl) 분포에 대해 설명한다. (Carle M. Piters et al., 2009, Georgiana Y. Kramer et al., 2011) 본 연구에서는 Rima Hadley 지역이 1 um 파장 근처에서 강한 흡수선을 가지는 것을 볼 수 있었고, 감람석이 풍부한 지역임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이처럼 감람석이 풍부한 곳은 현무암 지역으로 과거 용암이 분출되어진 곳으로 추측 해 볼 수 있다. 본 연구를 발전시킨다면 Rima Hadley 지역의 생성과 다른 Rima 지형의 형성 과정에 대해 더욱 많은 정보를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Norwegian Rock Excavation Technology (노르웨이의 암석굴착 기술)

  • Norway has the geological of condition of hard bedrocks, high mountains, deep valleys and fjords. In this background many tunnels and rock caverns are developed. In this process of constructing tunnels and rock caverns Norway seems to have strong competitiveness in the construction of tunnels. In spite of high salaries to the tunnel workers, Norwegian contractors are probably producing the cheapest tunnels and rock caverns in the world. Besides benefit of hard-rock geology, Norwegian cost-saying is owing to the Norwegian excavation technique in hard rocks such as unlined pressure tunnels, air cushion chambers, underwater piercing, and reasonable contract system and organization of workers developed from the accumulated experience. Brief analytical description of them are given in this paper in order to stimulate the utilization of the underground spaces.

Case Study on Embankment Slope Failure by Heavy Rainfall (집중호우에 의한 성토사면 붕괴사례)

  • 본 연구는 2006년 7월 집중호우에 의해 많은 인적.물적 피해가 발생한 강원도 지역의 피해 현장을 조사하였으며, 그 중 성토사면붕괴를 붕괴유형별로 구분하고 발생원인과 특성을 분석하여 그에 따른 적절한 대책방안을 제시하였다. 집중호우에 의한 성토사면의 붕괴유형 중 토석류에 의한 도로횡단 배수구조물의 기능상실로 유수가 노면으로 침출되고 수압이 발생하여 도로가 유실된 유형과 하천선형 불량으로 만곡수충부(물이 직접 부딪히는 부분)에서 유속이 빨라져 세굴에 의한 붕괴가 전체성토붕괴사면의 83%를 차지하였다. 이에 대한 대책방안으로는 토석류를 계곡상부에서 부터 예방할 수 있는 방법으로 사방댐 및 그물망 공법 등이 좋은 대책방안이 될 수 있으며, 토석류에 의한 유송잡물을 모두 통과할 수 있도록 충분히 큰 배수시설을 설치하는 방법도 좋은 대책방안이 될 수 있다. 무엇보다 열대성 국지 폭우를 이제 일상의 한반도 기후현상으로 받아들여 주먹구구식의 일회성 대책방안을 지양하고 바뀐 강우특성과 빈도를 고려하여 계획 홍수위를 재산정하고 그에 따라 하천정비계획을 재검토해야 할 것이다.

  • 국가차원의 창업장려책으로 인해 제2의 벤처붐이라고 부를 만큼 스타트업 및 벤처 창업이 활성화되면서, 데스밸리를 극복하고 창업의 성공률을 높이기 위한 노력의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 기업이 생존율을 높이고 성장으로 나아가기 위해서는 죽음의 계곡에 직면하는 가장 큰 부분인 자금 조달 및 투자유치에 대한 고민과 대책이 필요하다. 창업의 활성화는 창업초기의 높은 실패율을 낮출 수 있는지의 여부가 그 성패를 좌우하는 중요한 요인이다. 기업의 생존은 기업의 내적 요인뿐만 아니라 기업의 외적요인인 시장이나 산업의 상황에 의해서 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 혁신 부서를 보유한 기업의 전략적 지향성과 외부지식활용 능력인 흡수역량이 스타트업의 데스밸리 극복에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 스타트업 생태계 특징인 개방형혁신과 벤처캐피탈 지원의 조절효과를 분석하고자 한다. 종속변수는 기업이 손익분기점을 달성 한 후의 매출액, 순이익, 시장점유율, 종업원 수의 증가를 봄으로써 데스밸리 극복의 기준으로 삼고자 한다. 분석결과 전략적 지향성은 데스밸리 극복에 정(+)의 영향을 주는 것을 밝혀졌다. 흡수역량과 개방형혁신, 벤처캐피탈의 지원의 조절효과는 표본수가 적고 결측값 있으므로 유의미한 영향을 확인하지 못하였지만 추후 표본수를 늘려 다시 측정한 후 그 결과를 보고자 한다.

Characteristics of Seafloor Morphology and Manganese Nodule Occurrence in the KODES area, NE Equatorial Pacific (태평양 한국심해환경연구(KODES) 지역 해저변 지형과 망간단괴 분포특성)

  • Seafloor morphology and manganese nodule occurrence were studied in the Korea Deep-sea Environmental Study (KODES) area, northeast equatorial Pacific, to understand their relationship. Study area is composed of three elongated valleys and hills with about 100~200 m height along NNE-SSW direction. Valley region is generally flat. However, hill region is very rugged with big cliffs of about 100m height and small depressions of several tens of meters depth. Tectonic movement along the Clarion-Clipperton fracture zone, consequent formation of elongated abyssal hills and Valleys, erosion of siliceous bottom sediments by bottom currents, and dissolution of carbonate sediments on the abyssal hills below CCD result in the rugged morphology. Manganese nodule occurrence is closely related to the morphology of the study area; mostly rounded-shaped manganese nodules with about 5 cm diameter are abundant on the flat valley region, whereas irregular shaped nodules (or manganese crust) with less than 5 cm to about 1 m diameter occur on the hill. These results supports the previous reports that nodule abundance, composition, and morphology are variable both on regional and local small scales on the seafloor even within some abundant nodule provinces depending on oceanographic characteristics such as bathymetric features, surface sediment type, sediment thickness, and so on. We suggest that such oceanographic characteristics affect interrelatedly on the formation of manganese nodules, and tectonic movement of the Pacific plate ultimately constrain the nodule occurrence. A potential mining place in the KODES area seems to be the valley region, which is elongated to the NNW-SSE direction with 3-4 km width.

Selection of Desirable Species and Estimation of Composition Ratio in a Natural Deciduous Forest (천연활엽수림(天然闊葉樹林)의 경영대상(經營對象) 수종(樹種) 선정(選定) 및 구성비율(構成比率) 추정(推定))

  • Based on the community structural attributes, such as species composition, diameter and height distribution, topographic position, and species diversity in the natural deciduous forest of Mt. Gari area, this study suggested desirable species and composition ratio to achieve ecological management of forests so as to maintain forest stability and enhance economical values. The results are as follows : 1. Twenty-five tree species were growing in the study forest. Of these Quercus mongolica, Pinus densiflora, Juglans mandshurica, Quercus serrata, Cornus controversa, Acer mono, Fraxinus rhynchophylla, and Tilia mandshurica were selected for desirable species through the evaluation of dominant and dominant potential. Kalopanax pictus, considered to be highly valuable species, was also included. 2. Taking account of different species composition pattern by topographic positions, we select as desirable species of J. mandshurica, C. controversa, Q. mongolica, A. mono, T. mandshurica, and F. rhynchophylla in the valley area, Q. mongolica, Q. serrata, A. mono, T. mandshurica, F. rhynchophylla, and K. pictus in the mid-slope area, and Q. mongolica, P. densiflora, Q. serrata, and Fraxinus rhynchophylla in the ridge area. 3. Based on the estimation of species diversity index for the overstory components, the reasonable forest stability levels of the indices were estimated at 1.96, 1.68, 1.94, and 1.27 for whole forest, valley, midslope, and ridge, respectively. 4. The recommended species composition ratios in the study forest were suggested Q. mongolica to be 30%, A. mono, F. rhynchophylla, Q. serrata, and T. mandshurica to be 10%~15%, J. mandshurica, P. densiflora, and C. controversa to be 5%~10%, and K. pictus to be 5%.

The Types and Characteristics of Natural Scenery in Landscape Painting during Joseon Dynasty (조선시대 산수화에 그려진 자연풍경의 유형구분과 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify landscape paintings of our ancestors in types and characteristics of beautiful natural scenery. In this study, 629 landscape paintings targeted natural scenery of the Joseon Dynasty period are used and classified into types of natural scenery by main target of paintings. As the results of this study, landscape paintings are classified into mountain, river, sea, city by place drawing painting. The paintings drawn in mountain are classified into a few mountain peaks, many mountain peaks, one mountain peak, curious rock of mountain, valley and waterfall. The paintings drawn in river are classified into river and mountain, river water, scenery of riverside and curious rock of river. The paintings drawn in sea are classified into scenery of seaside and curious rock of sea. And the paintings drawn in city are classified into panoramic view of the town. The type of natural scenery in landscape paintings can be summarized in 3, scenery of mountain peaks, scenery of curious rock peaks and waterspace when combine place drawing painting.

Vertical Distribution of Vascular Plants in Osaek valley, Seoraksan National Park by Temperature Gradient (설악산국립공원 오색계곡 관속식물의 고도별 온도구배에 따른 수직분포)

  • In order to investigate vertical plant distribution on Osaek valley of Mt. Seorak by temperature change, vascular plants of fourteen areas with 100-meter-high difference were surveyed from the Osaekgyo(345m alt.) to the Daecheongbong(1708m alt.). A total of 449 taxa belonging to 94 families, 279 genera, 397 species, 5 subspecies, 45 varieties, and 2 forma were vegetated on survey areas. Around 500 m high did species diversity of vascular plants decrease rapidly. The Detrended correspondence analysis(DCA) divided distribution of vascular plants into five groups; areas below 500m alt., 500~900m alt., 900~1400m alt., 1,400~1,600m alt., and areas above 1,600m alt.. These results showed that vegetation of vascular plants on investigated areas has high correlation with climate elements of temperature. Vascular plants should be crowded within their own optimal ranges of vegetation. Climate change would result in shift of these distribution ranges, and thus vegetation shift will be happened accordingly.

The Study of the Ultrastructure on the Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses (Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses의 미세구조에 대한 연구)

  • The Anterior surface and posterior surface of rigid gas permeable(RGP) contact lenses has been studied by scanning electron microscopy. Results point out that the ultrastructure of contact lenses surface was some different on the anterior and posterior surface of RGP. The Quantitative study of surface roughness suggest that the anterior surface was more smooth than the posterior surface. These results suggest that the materials characters appeared the contact lens surface. The morphology of the anterior and posterior surface have different, Maybe, these result have a manufacture processing of the contact lenses. But some surface appeared a foreign body particles.
