The SPSS 14.0 Windows program was used to analyze data. Frequency, average, standard deviation, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, One-Way ANOVA analysis, and hierarchical multiple linear regression were analyzed. The major findings of this study indicate that the elderly in the voluntary work group have a high collectivism value, higher income earned by performing economic activities, and good cognitive health affected by a high satisfaction with life. From these research results, it was proved that a collectivism value is a common factor that affects satisfaction with life in both of the economic activity group. Those who were older had a traditional collectivism value. The voluntary work group showed a stronger collectivism value and higher satisfaction with life than the economic activity group. Thus, the diverse types of voluntary work should be developed and a systematic system should be established as methods for improving quality of life and satisfaction.

  • Two-lalyered quiet asphalt pavements are well known for their noise reduction capabilities compared to the conventional ones. This study was conducted to analyze the economic effects on two-layered quiet asphalt pavement rather than on one-layered. Noise prediction was performed on the data surveyed from the two-layered quiet asphalt pavement. In addition, the economic analysis was executed considering cost benefits using the noise prediction result. The permeability test was also investigated to evaluate the clogging recovery of two-layered quiet asphalt pavement. Analysis results revealed that the construction cost of two-layered quiet asphalt pavements was cheaper than that of the conventional soundproof walls. The two-layered quiet asphalt pavement with simulated clogging conditions was satisfied the permeability requirements of the permeable asphalt pavements. The permeability test results showed that the permeable time was recorded as 6.77 seconds for one cycle of cleaning job with 400 mL of water.

  • This study explores school to work transition of female youth. Particularly, the analyses focus on a transition to the first job from the graduation, and exits of irregular employees from their first occupational status. Data used for the analysis are “The 4th Survey on Women's Employment”, collected by KWDI in 2001. The results show that it takes 1.54 years on average for transition. Significant factors that influence the probability of transition to the first job include economic situation and satisfaction level of major at college education. The general high school educated are less likely to move into the labor market. Only a half percent of irregular employees at their first jobs exits to regular employees or non-economically active status, and education levels and age cohorts have clear impacts of those exits. Majors in college education and holding irregular jobs before the graduation significantly affect the probability of being regular employees, while industry influences the exits to be non-economically active status.
