Auction Design Strategies for Radio Spectrum Rights : Theory and Experience (주파수 재산권 경매방식의 설계 전략 : 이론과 경험)

  • Auctions are appealing market-type mechanisms because they can be deployed to solve the twin problems of resources pricing and allocation. Nonetheless the effectiveness of an auction mechanism in radio spectrum property rights should not be taken for granted. Policymakers need to be aware of the complexity of introducing market discipline in an area where none existed before. Auction design is critical to the success of the allocation process. However, a poorly designed auction mechanism can have detrimental effects on the spectrum rights allocation process. This study discusses some of the key elements and issues of auction design of radio spectrum rights for its efficient allocation. Particularly this study discusses, based on the existing auction theory and other countries' experiences, such issues as bidding rule, value interdependency and sequence of auction, information structure and asymmetric bidder, and wealth constraints and imperfect capital market.

  • For the purchase of a cheaper product on the Internet, many customers have been trying to search online shopping mall sites and visit comparison-pricing shops that compare prices and other criteria of the product. Others have been participating into online auction markets or group-buying markets. However, a lot of online shopping malls, auction markets, and group-buying markets provide the same product with different prices. Since these marketplaces have different price settlement mechanism, it is very difficult for the customers to determine marketplace to purchase, considering different kinds of marketplaces at the same time. To overcome such limitations, decision rules and solution procedures for purchase decision making are necessary, which can cover multiple marketplaces simultaneously. For this purpose, purchase decision making in each market must be conducted to maximize customer's utility, and conflicts with other marketplaces must be resolved. Therefore, we have developed the rules and methods that can negotiate cooperatively the purchase decision making in several marketplaces, and designed an architecture of Intelligent Buyer Agent and a message structure to support the idea.

A Study on the Mutual Influence of Indicators of the Real Estate Auction Market (부동산 경매시장 지표간의 상호 영향에 관한 연구)

  • If the real estate auction market indicators are relevant and meaningful, they can be meaningful information to the real estate market in connection with general real estate. The purpose of this study is to examine whether time-supply logic is applied in auction market by identifying time series correlations for the number of auctions, the auction rate, and the auction price rate, which are major indicators of real estate auction market. The real estate types were classified into three categories: residential real estate, land, and commercial real estate. The monthly time series of auctions in the metropolitan real estate were compiled for 96 months. Based on this data, the auction market model for each type was established and the mutual influences between the indicators were analyzed. As a result, the supply and demand indicators, the number of auctions and the auction rate, showed the nature of supply and demand according to the supply and demand logic of the market. However, the correlation was high for residential real estate and relatively low for commercial real estate. the auction rate has a long-term impact on price indicators, especially residential real estate, which is quantitatively explanatory and significant. The three auction-related indicators differ in degree, but there is a correlation, especially for residential real estate, which can be useful information for policy making.

  • 본 연구는 글로벌 인터넷 시장의 구매자와 판매자의 장단기 전략에서 가격을 기준으로 가장 합리적인 결정 방법을 알아보고 이를 통해 보다 가격 기준의 만족도 높은 거래를 성사시켜 구매자 및 판매자 모두에게 이득이 될 수 있는 프로세스를 제안한다. 제안된 프로세스는 구매자는 낮은 가격으로, 판매자는 높은 가격으로 물품의 거래가 성사된다면 가장 만족도가 높다는 가설을 세우고 이를 검증할 수 있도록 기존 시장을 구성하는 다양한 판매 방법들을 분석하여 본 연구에서 제시 하는 프로세스와의 장단점을 비교하고 본 연구를 통해 합리적 가격이 결정되는 방법 및 프로세스를 제한한다.

  • The topic on Flow is generating increased interests in e-commerce studies. Flow has been identified as a key component in e-commerce. Studies on Flow have so far focused on internet shopping mall, but scarcely looked at the Flow of Internet auction. The purpose of study is to find out which factors play a major role in building Flow on internet auction and how the built-up Flow affect Brand Equity. Therefore, the research model investigates what factors influence Flow. Furthermore, the research is designed to understand how the Flow influences Brand Equity. The antecedents of Flow classifies into three types such as personal (Challenge, Skill), IT characteristic, Internet Auction characteristic. The results of this empirical study shows that three characteristics significantly affected the flow:personal (Challenge), IT (information quality, system quality), and Internet Auction (interactivity). And also Flow has significant effect on the brand equity. This result indicates that customer's optimal experience is important to increase brand equity. That is, the flow is influenced by multi-dimensional factors and plays an important role in increasing brand equity. Finally, the finding of this study suggests that personal challenge, information quality, system quality, and interactivity should be enhanced preferentially.

  • 원예산물은 출하과정에서 외관과 내부품질에 따라 분류되고, 그 결과에 따라 상품성과 가격이 결정된다. 수박의 경우에도 품질이나 가격은 크기, 무게, 외피모양, 타격할 때 나는 반사음, 촉감 등에 따라 결정되는데, 주로 경매사 또는 감별사의 경험이나 표본검사에 의존하고 있다. 최근 과실류에 비해 크고 껍질이 두꺼운 수박, 메론 등의 내부품질을 비파괴ㆍ실시간으로 판정하기 위한 연구가 국내외에서 활발히 수행중이다. 특히 X-선, 음파, 근적외선 등을 이용하여 숙도, 공동, 당도, 밀도 등을 신속히 검출하기 위한 연구가 대부분을 차지하고 있다.   • Previous research on two-sided markets has, for the most part, concentrated on indirect network externalities between buyers and sellers. This paper considers direct competition effect among sellers and among buyers as well as indirect network externalities. We develop an analytic model of C2C e-marketplaces and examine whether a monopolistic incumbent could successfully deter new entry into its market. We find that the effect of the number of sellers or buyers on the price of goods depends on whether sellers have decided to sell the goods using an auction or fixed pricing rule and on the characteristics of the goods. We argue that when the effect of the number of sellers on the price of goods is significantly larger than that of buyers, there is a high possibility of entry. In particular, we show that entry becomes more difficult to deter as fixed-price format is adopted more frequently or the proportion of collectables is relatively low.

Empirical Analysis on the Disparity between Willingness to Pay and Willingness to Accept for Drinking Water Risks : Using Experimental Market Method (비시장재에 대한 WTP와 WTA 격차에 대한 실증분석 : 실험시장접근법을 이용한 음용수 건강위험을 사례로)

  • This paper reports the empirical results of comparing the willingness to pay(WTP) for health risk reductions and the willingness to accept(WTA) for risk increases using experimental market methods in the first time in Korea. Health risks were defined as probabilities of premature death from exposure to one of As, Pb, and THM in tap water. A total of six experimental markets with 15 participants in each experiments were held using 20 repetitive Vickrey second-price sealed-bid auctions. To compare the effects of market experiences, trading a marketed good, candy bar, was introduced before the trading the non-marketed good, drinking water risks. Moreover, an objective risk information was provided after the first 10 trials to incorporate learning processes. Regardless of marketed or non-marketed goods, the mean of WTA exceeded the mean of WTP at the first auction trial. As experimental trials proceeded, the disparity between WTA and WTP for marketed goods disappeared. However results for non-marketed goods were rather mixed to the extent that WTA for health risks from As (relatively high risk leves) were significantly larger than WTP, while there were no significant difference between WTA and WTP for health risks fro Pb and THM (relatively low risk levels). On the other hand, participants seemed to respond in a 'rational' manner to the objective risk information provided, with positive learning effects of market-like experience(especially in the WTA experiments).
