  • This study developed a methodology that can reflect more realistic traffic flow to understand platoons on highways. The understanding of the phenomenon nay secure highway safety and authoritative credibility in highway planning. In this study platoons generated by 'random effects' of cars are modeled, and this model is validated using a real data set acquired from the Jayu Expressway in Kyonggi Province, Korea.

  • This paper presents a game-theoretic model of information transmission for variable message sign(VMS) operations. There are one VMS operator and many drivers as players. Operator wants to minimize the total travel time while the drivers want to minimize their own travel time. The operator who knows the actual traffic situation offers information strategically. The drivers evaluate the information from operator, and then choose the route. We model this situation as a cheap-talk game which is a simplest form of Bayesian game. We show that there is a possibility that the operator can improve the traffic efficiency by manipulating the electric signs at times. Indeed, it is an equilibrium of the game. This suggests that the operator must consider the strategic use of VMS system seriously.

  • The Variable Message Signs (VMS) are useful way to reduce the socio-economic costs due to the traffic congestions and delays by providing the information on traffic condition to drivers. This study provided a methodology to determine the locations of VMS's in terms of the minimization of the delay by applying the genetic algorithm. The optimal number of VMS's was also derived by the economic analysis based on the cost and the benefit. The simulation considered the variation of traffic volume, the frequency and duration of the incident, and the traffic conversion in order to reflect the real situation. I've made a scenario to consider traffic volume and incident, and it can undergo through changing different traffic volume and incident in time and days and seasons. And I've comprised two kinds of result, one is based on empirical studies, the other is based on Genetic Algorithm about optimal allocation VMS. This result of using optimal location VMS, reduce total travel time rather than preceding study based on normal location VMS and we can estimate optimal location VMS each one.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 2차선 지방지역도로에서 사용 가능한 No-overtaking Model의 개발과 현장조사를 통한 우리 나라 2차선 도로의 교통류 특성의 규명이었다. No-overtaking Model을 개발하기 위해서는 이미 개발된 바 있는 Slow moving Vehicle Model의 이론적 틀을 근거로 하되 중차량을 따라 피동적으로 주행하는 일련의 차량군에 또 다른 중차량이 포함된 경우에 대해서도 분석이 가능하도록 개선했다. 경기도 일원에서 약 3 개월동안 조사한 현장조사에서 나타난 우리 나라 2차선 도로의 교통류 특성은 첫째로, 2차 선 교통류의 주요 MOE(Measures of Effectiveness)들은 교통량에 의해 비교적 정확하게 산정 가능하다는 것과, 둘째로 우리 나라의 주요 MOE값은 외국의 경우와 비교했을 때 대 체로 유사한 결가를 보이나 평균속도의 경우 최소 5km/h 최대 15km/h 정도와 차이를 나타 낸다는 것, 그리고 셋째로 차량군의 선두차량 85%의 경우 그 속도는 100.4km/h이고 추월 에 필요한 반대편차선 차량과의 여유 거리는 754.8m이라는 것이었다. 향후 연구과제로는 중차량의 속도분포를 확률 분포식으로 나타내는 경우의 지체시간, 추월율 등의 2차선 교통 류 MOE를 산출할 수 있는 Model을 개발하는 것이며 현재 5분 교통량으로 표시된 교통량 을 보다 많은 현장수집 자료를 통해 1시간 단위의 교통량을 기준으로 하여 MOE를 산정해 보는 것이다.

  • This paper designed to identify energy demand behavior which are employed price: expenditure, traffic activity, and fuel substitution effect in the transportation sector. According to analysis, we find that first of all in this sector, enhancement of fuel economies and improvement of public transportation system are quite significant.

  • This paper proposes a new concept of coordinating green this which controls 10 traffic intersection systems. For instance, if we have a baseballs game at 8 pm today, traffic volume toward the baseball game at 8 pm today, traffic volume toward the baseball game will be incr eased 1 hour or 1 hour 30 minutes before the baseball game. at that time we can not pred ict optimal green time Even though there have smart elctrosensitive traffic light system. Therefore, in this paper to improve average vehicle speed and reduce average vehicle waiting time, we created optimal green time using fuzzy rules and neural network. Computer simulation results proved reducing average vehicle waiting time proposed coordinating green time better than electro-sensitive traffic light system.   • Recently, ITS has been deployed nationwide and at the same time, the demand for the better accuracy and higher quality of traffic information has been increased. Yet, there is no standard evaluation methods or evaluation equipments to verify ITS device's performance, being unable to secure reliable traffic data. In this study, the standard evaluation methods for ITS device's performance are studied by reviewing other nations' evaluation methods and the evaluation system is developed.

Integrated Equity Analysis Based on Travel Behavior and Transportation Infrastructure: In Gyeonggi-Do Case (교통인프라와 통행행태를 기반으로 한 통합적 형평성 분석: 경기도를 중심으로)

  • This study aims at analyzing transportation equity between geographical areas of Gyonggi Province, by taking both the transportation infrastructure and travel behavior into account. Indicators of transportation infrastructure include the indices of road infrastructure, transit infrastructure and regional characteristics. Travel behavior concerns information from bus card data on a survey day. The hot-spot analysis conducted included spatial cluster analysis and global/local regression analyses. The analysis results identified geographical areas of four different classes of transportation equity, from the area with high level infrastructure surrounded by the areas with high level infrastructure (HH) to the area with low level surrounded by the areas with low level (LL). The area of HH type showed big numbers of passengers, trips and transfers, whereas the area of LL type shows big figures of internal trip frequency, travel time, travel distance, travel speed and transit fare. Global regression analysis showed that number of passengers, number of transfers, number of internal trips and mean travel speed are important to the level of transportation infrastructure. GWR with these four significant variables significantly improved the AICs and ANOVA results, which implies that the infrastructure is likely explained by travel characteristics differently between geographical areas in Gyonggi Province.
