Improvement of An Electronic Aid for the Blind using Ultrasonic and Acceleration Sensors (초음파 및 가속도 센서를 이용한 시각장애인용 보행보조 장치의 성능 개선)

  • This paper introduces an electronic travel aid, named SmartWand, which detects obstacles using a ultrasonic sensor. In addition to obstacle detection, the SmartWand senses color information of objects and the environmental brightness. It is designed to be attached to a ordinary white cane in order to detect the obstacles at head-hight which cannot be covered by the cane. We have improved the first version of the SmartWand based on a user evaluation. The second version is much lighter and smaller than the previous one. It has been enhanced by two new functions. The SmartWand eliminates impact errors due to tapping the ground using a moving average filtering algorithm and restricts the detection range to the path in the moving direction using an acceleration sensor. We have tested these functions in various environments to determine the parameters for these functions.

The establishment of Proactive Routing Selection and Maintenance Algorithms for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (이동 Ad Hoc 네트워크에서 사전 활성화 라우팅 선택과 관리유지 알고리즘의 구축)

  • In conventional on-demand mobile ad hoc routing algorithms, an alternate path is sought only after an active path is broken. It incurs a significant cost in terms of money and time in detecting the disconnection and establishing a new route. In this thesis, we propose proactive route selection and maintenance to conventional mobile ad hoc on-demand routing algorithms. The key idea for this research is to only consider a path break to be likely when the signal power of a received packet drops below an optimal threshold value and to generate a forewarning packet. In other words, if a path is lost with high probability, the neighboring node that may easily be cut off notifies the source node by sending a forewarning packet. Then the source node can initiate route discovery early and switched to a reliable path potentially avoiding the disconnection altogether. For the simulational study, network simulator(NS2) is used. The result of simulation shows that the algorithm significantly improves the performance of networks comparing to conventional on-demand routing protocols based on DSR and AODV in terms of packet delivery ratio, packet latency and routing overhead.

  • 주행 중 차선 이탈 경고 시스템은 사고 발생 예방 차원에서 매우 높은 효과가 인정되어서 차선이탈 경고 장치(LDWS) 제품들이 출시되고 있다. 본 논문은 블랙박스의 영상을 이용하여 차선 검출에 정확도를 향상하기 위한 알고리즘을 연구한 것으로 특히 차량에 장착되어 있는 블랙박스 영상을 영상 변환 없이, 실시간 소프트웨어 만 으로 처리할 수 있는 알고리즘을 연구한다. 차선인식을 위한 최적의 영상 ROI를 결정하고, 차선 인식 정확도를 향상하기 위한 전 처리 과정을 적용하고, 동영상의 연속성을 잘못된 차선인식에 대한 보정, 인식이 되지 않는 차선에 대한 후보 차선 추천 알고리즘과 시점 변환에 의한 야간, 곡선 도로에 대한 오인식율을 최소화 하는 방법을 제안한다. 도로주행의 다양한 환경에 대한 실험을 진행했으며, 각각의 방법 적용에 의한 오인식율의 감소와 많은 인식 알고리즘 적용에 의한 처리 속도 저하를 개선하기 위한 연구를 진행했으며, 본 논문은 블랙박스 영상을 이용하여 주행 차선 인식을 위한 최적 알고리즘을 제안한다.

Design and Evaluation of an Early Intelligent Alert Broadcasting Algorithm for VANETs (차량 네트워크를 위한 조기 지능형 경보 방송 알고리즘의 설계 및 평가)

  • The development of applications for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) has very specific and clear goals such as providing intellectual safe transport systems. An emergency warning technic for public safety is one of the applications which requires an intelligent broadcast mechanism to transmit warning messages quickly and efficiently against the time restriction. The broadcast storm problem causing several packet collisions and extra delay has to be considered to design a broadcast protocol for VANETs, when multiple nodes attempt transmission simultaneously at the access control layer. In this paper, we propose an early intelligent alert broadcasting (EI-CAST) algorithm to resolve effectively the broadcast storm problem and meet time-critical requirement. The proposed algorithm uses not only the early alert technic on the basis of time to collision (TTC) but also the intelligent broadcasting technic on the basis of fuzzy logic, and the performance of the proposed algorithm was compared and evaluated through simulation with the existing broadcasting algorithms. It was demonstrated that the proposed algorithm shows a vehicle can receive the alert message before a collision and have no packet collision when the distance of alert region is less than 4 km.

  • Interest in mountain accidents among the technical trends of disasters in Korea is increasing continuously. When accidents occur, the most common methods are location tracking and accident reporting using smartphones, and rescue activities are being carried out by using them. In this paper, we proposed an improvement of wireless safety system for mountain climbing safety using 447 FSK. Using the 447 MHz band transmitter / receiver, it accumulates position coordinates and data through position transmission and rescue signal transmission in case of anomalies. If a sender is out of the threshold of the set area range, a danger warning notification can be generated to quickly exit the danger zone. Provide services. In addition, it is considered that the health condition of the sender is continuously checked and the receiver is warned when the specified threshold is exceeded, so that it is possible to respond to the sender's disaster.

  • To improve the performance of self-driving cars, the introduction of V2X, a communication technology that connects vehicles, infrastructure, and vehicles, is essential. Even if traffic information of the other vehicle is known, the structure of the intersection and a distance calculation algorithm are required for accurate calculations at roundabouts. This paper proposes a design algorithm for a rotating intersection and implemented in Matlab that complies with the national design rules and enables accurate calculations. Assuming the roundabout and the entrance/exit path to be a circle, a method for measuring the distance between vehicles at an arbitrary point was proposed using the horizontal shift of the entrance circle to the main circle. The algorithm could be used in fully autonomous vehicles by designing a roundabout suitable for the terrain by arbitrarily varying the angle between branches and the radius of curvature of the entrance and exit roads, and transmitting a warning signal when a collision between two driving vehicles is expected.

  • Assuming a completed Smart Highway road & communication environment that allows real-time information collection and transmission of road traffic condition ahead, the purpose of this study is to develop a plan for inducing a network-level safe driving pattern by providing road traffic condition and safety information to multiple drivers through a road information provision device. In this study, the device with a function that displays different colors according to the hazard level to the existing delineator has been named 'Smart Delineator'. Smart Delineator is a device that provides not only alignment information but also safety information for drivers to receive real-time warning information and intuitively recognize road traffic condition ahead so that drivers can respond. To examine the effects of safety driving inducement level on drivers, a simulation test was conducted using driving simulator as well as a satisfaction survey. The result showed that the Smart Delineator was able to identify the location of occurrence and affecting driving according pattern, either adhering to recommended speed or reducing speed according to the pre-defined hazard level.

  • In this paper, we design and implement location information system and user mapping system using DSDV(Destination Sequenced Distance Vector) routing algorithm in ad-hoc network environment to efficient manage a number of mobile devices. The software part in proposed system construct ad-hoc network using DSDV routing algorithm and it activate alarm system, such as vibration, when one of devices disappears in the network. The hardware system, called u_LIN (User Location Information Node) construct ad-hoc network and it helps to find a disappeared device by using warning system. When we evaluate the performance of our prototype system, we have checked a correct operation, within the range of 250m in case of 1:1 communication and within the range of 100m in case of 1:N communication. The implemented system in this paper is highly expected to flexibly use in juvenile protection system, stray-child protection system, tourist guide system and so on.

  • 이동 애드혹 네트워크의 경우, 이동 노드들은 자신의 데이터를 처리하는 기능 이외에 다른 노드의 데이터를 전달하는 기능을 하게 된다. 이러한 기능을 수행하기 위하여 노드는 더 많은 에너지를 소비하게 되므로, 에너지 소비량이나 에너지 균형과 같은 에너지 관련문제가 중요한 관심 분야로 조명되고 있다. 이에 관련된 연구들은 최적으로 에너지 균형을이루는 경로를 찾기 위한 방법에 관한 것이었다. 그러나 기존의 연구들은 데이터 통신 중간의 에너지 균형에 대해서는 고려하지 않고 있으며, 본 논문에서는 이 문제를 해결하기 위해노드 경고 알고리즘 (NOAL)을 제안한다. NOAL에서, 데이터를 전달하는 중간 노드들은 자신의 에너지 보유량을 검사하여 기준 값 이하일 경우, 자신의 에너지 정보를 다른 노드들에게 알리게 된다 이는 다른 노드들로부터 자신에게 더 이상의 데이터를 보내지 않도록 하며,자신은 데이터 전달에 의한 에너지 소모량을 줄일 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 NOAL을 이용하여 LEAR with NOAL (LENOAL) 을 제안한다. 실험을 통해서 결과를 산출했으며, 본 논문에서 제시한 알고리즘이 에너지 균형을 21-36% 정도 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • CCTV(Close Circuit Television)는 화상정보를 특정 목적으로 특정 사용자에게 전달해주는 시스템이다. 회사, 쇼핑몰 등 큰 규모의 건물부터 아파트, 개인 상점에 이르기까지 많은 분야에서 CCTV를 설치하여 건물 내외의 영상을 촬영하여 보안을 위해 사용한다. 하지만 기존의 CCTV 시스템을 설치하기 위해 필요한 장비가 고가이기 때문에 일반 가정에서 CCTV를 설치하여 사용하기에는 경제적 부담이 있다. 그리고 CCTV를 제어하고 영상을 저장하기 위한 장비의 전원을 계속 켜두어야 하기 때문에 CCTV 시스템의 유지 및 사용하는데 드는 비용도 비싸다는 단점이 있다. 이 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 일반 가정에서 많이 사용하는 무선 공유기와 웹 카메라를 사용해서 가정용 CCTV 시스템을 설치하는 방법을 제안하고 구현한다. 제안된 방법은 무선 공유기에 웹 카메라를 연결하여 CCTV 시스템을 구현하고, 움직임이 감지될 경우 SMS 서비스를 사용하여 사용자에게 경고 메시지를 전송함으로써 저렴한 비용으로 침입에 대한 즉각적인 대응을 할 수 있는 서비스를 제공하는데 목적이 있다.
