This study aimed at identifying the relationship between marital satisfaction and marital stability, with primary focus on the effect of double sexual standards on their relationship. Data from 370 married women of community and culture centers in Daegu Metropolitan area were analyzed through multi-step multiple regressions. Relationship between sexual satisfaction and marital satisfaction were not statistically significant in the sample of married women. Construction of comprehensive and systemic theoretical model on marital stability was suggested for further study.

SPSS Win 21.0 program was utilized to proceed the analysis for the attributes of variables in marital satisfaction, correlation among variables, and hierarchical regression analysis. 274 subjects around the Multicultural Center users in Geonggi-do were selected as research targets and drew a conclusion as the following results. The purpose of this study was to explore factors related to marital satisfaction among immigrant wives compared to Korean wives of Korean men. Participants included 409 immigrant wives married to Korean men and 474 Korean wives married to Korean men, both currently living in Korea. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that there were different sets of variables that predicted marital satisfaction for each group. Egalitarian decision-making was a significant predictor of marital satisfaction for immigrant wives only, whereas for Korean wives, it was the level of their depressive symptoms that was significantly but negatively associated with marital satisfaction. A wife's positive perception of her husband's communication style emerged as the strongest predictor of marital satisfaction for both Korean and immigrant wives. In addition, indicators of the cultural context of immigrant women (i.e., longer stay in Korea and greater frequency of experiencing discrimination in the past year due to their foreign appearance or status) emerged as significant predictors of immigrant wives' marital satisfaction even after taking demographic factors, depressive symptoms, and couple-level factors into account. The findings of this study contribute to existing research by (1) comparing the models of marital satisfaction for Korean wives and immigrant wives, identifying unique predictors for each group, and (2) examining the effect of cultural adaptation on the martial satisfaction of immigrant wives.
Increasing rate of late or deferred marriage in our society may have been inferred from alleged contribution of media use on people's idealistic expectations about marriage. This study examined the relationship between Korean-Chinese romance drama viewing and various sub-concepts of idealistic fantasy about marriage. Results from survey analysis indicate that although romance drama viewing has a positive association with life satisfaction, it was positively associated with various aspects of idealistic marriage fantasy (i.e., less materialism in marriage, more belief in love at first sight, and more unrealistic expectations on marriage). Further, differential cultivation effects of Korea and Chinese romance dramas were discussed.

This study focused on self-effects and spouse-effects that impact marital satisfaction in sex role stereotypes, work-family conflict and work-family enrichment. 95 double-income couples participated in this study, and the paired T-Test and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The result of the study showed that sex role stereotypes, work-family conflict, and work-family enrichment are not significant differences in husband and wife, but a husbands was significantly higher than wife in marital satisfaction. In the next step, we considered variables affecting marital satisfaction, and found a significant difference between husband and wife. Work-family enrichment positively affected the husband's marital satisfaction, while the wife's satisfaction was positively affected by the husband's sex role stereotype and negatively affected by her work-family conflict. This study suggests that marriage enrichment programs, the education of husband and wife, and couple counseling should consider individual effects and spouse effects.

This study observes how the conjugal sharing of the roles such as breadwinning, housework/childcare, and leisure activities affects wives' marital satisfaction, and how the relationships among the considered variables are similar or different across age categories. Two dependent variables, the relationship satisfaction and the marital happiness, are measured and estimated as the concept of the marital satisfaction. Analysed is the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families 2008 collected by Korean Women's Development Institute. Among women in the ages of 30s-50s, full-time housewives with the breadwinning husbands feel happier with their marriage than the wives in dual career families, and those in dual career families are happier than the breadwinning women with the househusbands. Among the women in their 40s, the highest relationship satisfaction is reported by the those of the dual career families. Wives in their 30s prefer equal division of familywork in explaining the relationship satisfaction, while wives in the age of 40s and 50s show only the effect of reducing wives' portion. The co-spousal leisure activity is consistently significant in its positive relationship with the marital satisfaction across the age categories. There is a general tendency that the marital satisfaction is the highest in the youngest age bracket and the lowest in the oldest. For managing better marriages, individual efforts of both spouses as well as social support are required.
