  • A methodology for enhancing the bond strength of a coating layer with a support has been established in preparing low-pressure reverse osmosis mO) hollow fiber which would experience shear badly in flowing feed un it. Prior to coating process, the support membrane, ultrafiltratiun polysulfone(PS) hollow fibers was pretreated with a reaction solution containing glutaraldehyde (GAl which has a good affinity to the suppurt membrane material as well as a reactivity to some of the cunstituents of cuating layer subsequently formed on the support by interfacial polymerization. Therefore, the reactant GA distributed unifonnly over the support layer through the pretreatment could provide a strong adhesive bond between the coating layer and the support, sticking fast to the support membrane through physical bond and, at the same time, connecting its functional group with the coating laycr by chemical bonding. Due to the strong adhesive bond, the resulting hollow fiber membrane showed an excellent long-tcnn stability in pcnneation.

  • In this study, Jute fibers reinforced polypropylene (JFRP) composites were manufactured by injection molding technique. In order to improve the affinity and adhesion between fibers and thermoplastic matrices during manufacturing, Maleic anhydride (MA) as a coupling agent have been employed. Untreated and treated surfaces of jute fibers were characterized using SEM and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Physical properties like water absorption rate were studied. Tensile and flexural tests were carried out to evaluate the composite mechanical properties. Tensile test and bending test indicated that JFRP composites show higher strength and modulus than pure PP. In addition, strength and modulus were found to be influenced by the variation of MAPP content (1%, 2%, and 3%). Tensile fracture surfaces were examined using scanning electron microscope. It ensures better interfacial adhesion between fibers and matrix by increasing the percentage of MAPP.

  • 개망초로부터 색소를 추출, 분말화하여 FT-IR 분석을 행하고, 모섬유에 대한 염색조건과 매염이 염착량(K/S값) 및 색상에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 또한 염색한 시료의 견뢰도를 측정하여 실용성을 확인하였다. 개망초 색소는 모섬유에 높은 친화력을 보였으며, Langmuir형의 등온흡착곡선을 보여 염착이 주로 이온결합에 의해 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 염착략이 pH 3.0에서 최대가 되었으나 강한 산성조건은 강도 저하를 비롯한 섬유에 손상을 주기 때문에 pH를 조절하지 않고 염색하였다. 피염물의 색상은 모두 Y 계열을 나타내었다. 철매염 처리한 경우를 제외하고 매염처리가 염착량 증진에 미치는 영향은 그다지 크지 않았으며, 매염제 종류를 달리하여 염색한 모섬유의 색상은 크롬과 주석으로 매염한 경우 YR 계열을 나타내고 그 밖의 매염제에 의해서는 Y 계열의 색상을 나타내어 큰 변화는 없었다. 매염처리하지 않은 시료의 견뢰도는 매우 양호하였으며 매염처리가 견뢰도 증진에 미치는 영향은 크지 않았다.

  • The fluorine doped silicon oxide (SiOF) intermetal dielectric (IMD) films have been of interest due to their lower dielectric constant and compatibility with existing process tools. However instability issues related to bond and increasing dielectric constant to water absorption when the SiOF films was exposured to atmospheric ambient. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to study the effect of post oxygen plasma treatment on the resistance of moisture absorption and reliability of SiOF film. Improvement of moisture absorption resistance of SiOF film is due to the forming of thin SiO₂layer at the SiOF film surface. It is thought that the main effect of the improvement of moisture absorption resistance was densification of the top layer and reduction in the number of Si-F bonds that tend to associate with OH bonds. However, the dielectric constant was increased when plasma treatment time is above 5 min. In this study, therefore, it is thought that the proper plasma treatment time is 3 min when plasma treatment condition is 700 W of microwave power, 3 mTorr of process pressure and 300℃ of substrate temperature.

$\beta$-차단제의 약효검색범

  • $\beta$수용체에 대한 차단약으로 propranolol이 1964년에 도입된 후, 현재까지 수십여종의 $\beta$-차단약이 개발되었다. 그중 특이 $\beta$1 수용체에 대해 선택적인 억제효과를 지닌 atenolol, metoprolol, betaxolol, celiprolol 및 최근에 bisoprolol 등이 개발되어 임상적으로 부정맥, 협심증, 고혈압의 치료에 사용되고 있다. 그 작용기전으로는 심박출량의 감소, renin 유리억제, 중추억제효과 등이 제시되고 있으나, 이들의 약효검색은 주로 $\beta$1수용체가 많이 존재하는 심장에 대한 억제효과를 중심으로 실시한다. 즉, SHR 및 개를 사용한 생체실험과 심장, 심방 ($\beta$1) 및 기완지, 혈관($\beta$2)을 이용한 적출장기실험을 통하여 isoproterenol에 대한 억제효과를 용량반응 곡선으로 그리고, Van rossum 법에 의해 pA$_2$ 치를 구하여 $\beta$-차단제의 효력을 평가한다. 특히, pA$_2$ 치가 클수록 $\beta$-차단제의 효력이 큰 약물이다. 또한 수용체 결합실험으로 소의 심실 세포막을 분리하여 $^3$H-DHA 와의 결합실험을 통해 해리항수(Kd) 를 측정하고, 이어서 $^3$H-DHA의 일정농도와 함께 미지의 $\beta$-차단제를 여러 농도로 변화시켜 가하여 치환곡선을 작성한다. 여기에서 얻은 치환약의 $IC_{50}$/ 치로부터 치환약의 해리항수(Ki)를 산출한다. 이때 약물과 수용체의 친화력은 해리항수의 역수이므로 해리항수가 적을수록 $\beta$ 수용체에 대한 친화력이 큰 약물이다. 시사되었으며, 이 조직에서 또한 5-$HT_2$와 5-$HT_3$ 수용체의 존재를 확인하고 각각의 기능을 분명히 했다.가 수월하게 하였고 메모리를 동적으로 관리할 수 있게 하였다. 또한 기존의 smpl에 디버깅용 함수 및 설비(facility) 제어용 함수를 추가하여 시뮬레이션 프로그램 작성을 용이하게 하였다. 예를 들면 who_server(), who_queue(), pop_Q(), push_Q(), pop_server(), push_server(), we(), wf(), printfct() 같은 함수들이다. 또한 동시에 발생되는 사건들의 순서를 조종하기 위해, 동시에 발생할 수 있는 각각의 사건에 우선순위를 두어 이 우선 순위에 의하여 사건 리스트(event list)에서 자동적으로 사건들의 순서가 결정되도록 확장하였으며, 설비 제어방식에 있어서도 FIFO, LIFO, 우선 순위 방식등을 선택할 수 있도록 확장하였다.   • To search a new porcine pheromonal odorant, the models of four type (2D-QSAR, HQSAR, CoMFA & CoMSlA) were derived from quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) between tetrahydrofuran-2-yl family compounds and their observed binding affinity constants (Obs.p$[Od]_{50}$). The optimized CoMFA model (predictability; $r^{2}_{cv.}(q^2)$=0.886 & correlation coefficient: $r^{2}_{ncv.}$=0.984) from ligand based approaches was confirmed as the best model among them. The $N^{1}$-allyl-$N^{2}$-(tetrahydrofuran-2-yl)methyl)oxalamide (P1), 2-(4-trimethylammoniummethylcyclohexyloxy)tetrahydrofurane (P5) and 2-(3-trimethylammoniummethylcyclohexyloxy)tetrahydrofurane (P6) molecules predicted as porcine pheromonal odorant by the CoMFA model were showed relatively high binding affinity constant values (Pred.p$[Od]_{50}=8{\sim}10$) and very lower toxicity values against some sorts of toxicity.

Multiple Binding Affinities for Muscarinic Acetylcholine Receptors in Rat Brain (흰쥐 뇌내(腦內)의 무수카린성 콜린 수용체의 이질성(異質性))

  • We investigated the binding properties of $(^3H)$ QNB and $(^3H)$ NMS to mAchR to elucidate the characterstics of mAchR in rat brain by using two different preparations (homogemates & intact brain cell aggregates). The binding properties of both ligands demonstrated high affinity and saturability in both experiments, however $(^3H)$ QNB showed a significantly higher maximal binding capacity than tha ot $(^3H)$ NMS 1. In rat brain homogenates; Displacement of both lignands with several mAchR antagonists resulted in competition curves in accoradnce with the law of massaction for QNB, atropine & scopolamine in thie preparation, also a similar profile was found for the quaternary ammonium analogs of atropine & scopolamine (methyl atropine & methylscopolamine) when $(^3H)$ NMS was used to label the receptors in rat brain. But when these hydrophillic antagonists were used to displace $(^3H)$ QNB, they showed interaction with high- and low-affinity binding sites in brain homogenates. Pirenzepine, the nonclassical mAchR antagonist, was able to displace both ligands from binding sites in this preparation. 2. In intact rat brain cell aggregates; Intact bain cell aggregates were used to elucidate the binding characteristics of $(^3H)$ NMS to mAchR in rat. The magnitude of binding of this ligand was related linearly to the amount of cell protein in the binding assay with a high ratio of total to nonspecific binding. mAchR antagonists displaced specific $(^3H)$ NMS binding according to the law of mass-action, while it was possible to resolve displacement curves using mAchR agonist into high-& low-affinity component. 3. Our results indicate that more hydrophilic receptor ligand $(^3H)$ QNB, displacement experiments in both tissues demonstrated that the lipid solubility of a particulr mAchR ligand might play an important role in determining its profile of binding to the mAchR, and the concentrations of mAchR in rat brain are both on the cell surface (membrane-bound receptor) and in the intracelluar membrane (intermembrane-bound receptor). 4. The results are discussed in terms of the usefulness of dissociated intact rat brain cells in studying mAchR in central nervous system.

CVD공정에 의해 증착된 DLC (Diamond-like Carbon) 박막의 질화층 형성에 따른 밀착력 특성 연구

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC)은 낮은 마찰력과 높은 내마모성 및 내식성등과 같은 우수한 물성을 가지고 있다. 따라서, DLC 박막은 다양한 응용분야에 적용이 가능한 코팅이다. 특히, DLC 박막의 낮은 마찰력과 고경도 특성은 자동차 산업 및 금형과 같은 저마찰 및 내마모성 향상에 기여할 수 있는 매력적인 박막 코팅으로 각광받고 있다. 그러나 DLC 박막의 높은 잔류응력과 다른 기판의 화학적 친화력을 감소시키는 탄소-탄소 결합의 불안정성 때문에 금속소재와의 낮은 접합력으로 인하여 그 응용에 어려움을 격고 있다. DLC 박막의 접합력 향상을 위하여 모재에 활성 스크린 플라즈마 질화 장비를 사용하여 금속 시편에 질화처리를 하였다. 질화처리후 CVD법으로 DLC 박막을 증착하였으며, 박막의 특성은 나노 인덴테이션, 마이크로 라만 스펙트로스코피 그리고 주사전자현미경에 의해 측정되었다. 활성 스크린 질화 장비에 의해 처리된 시편의 특성변화는 GDS, XRD 및 마이크로 비커스 경도계를 이용하여 관찰하였다. 박막과 모재와의 밀착력은 스크래치 테스트에 의해 측정 하였으며, 질화층이 형성됨으로 인해 모재의 상구조와 경도의 변화가 생겼고, 이로 인해 DLC박막과 모재의 밀착력이 상승하였음을 알 수 있었다.

2D-QSAR Analyses on the Binding Affinity Constants of Tetrahydropyrane and Tetrahydrofurane Analogues against Bovine Odorant Binding Protein and Predicted of High Active Molecules (Bovine Ordorant Binding Protein에 대한 Tetrahydropyrane 및 Tetrahydrofurane 유도체들의 결합 친화력 상수에 관한 2D-QSAR 분석과 고활성 분자의 예측)

  • The two dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships (2D-QSARs) models concerning the binding affinity constants ($p[Od.]_{50}$) between 2-cyclohexyltetrahydropyrane and 2-cyclohexyltetrahydrofurane analogues as substrates, and bovine odorant binding protein (bOBP) as receptor were derived by multiple regression analyses method and discussed. The statistical quality of the optimized 2D-QSAR model (5) was good (r=0.907). From the model, the binding affinity constants ($p[Od.]_{50}$) were dependent upon the optimal value ($(TL)_{opt.}$=2.737) of total lipole (TL) of substrate molecules. Based on these findings, the high active compounds predicted by optimized 2D-QSAR model (5) were 2-(dimethylcyclohexyl)tetrahydropyrane molecule and their isomer molecules. The binding affinity constants regarding bOBP of the tetrahydrofuryl-2-yl family compounds were dependent upon the hydrophobicity (logP) of whole substrate molecules. In any case of porcine odorant-binding proteins (pOBP), the constants were dependent upon the hydrophobicity (${\pi}x={\log}P_X-{\log}P_H$) of substituents (R) in substrate molecules. Also, from the optimal values of hydrophobic constant, the hydrophobicity for bOBP influenced ca. twice time bigger (bOBP>pOBP) than that for pOBP.

Reinforcement of Rubber Properties by Carbon Black and Silica Fillers: A Review

  • Enhancing the properties of rubber, such as the tensile strength, modulus, and wear abrasion, by the addition of carbon black and silica as fillers is very important for improving the performance of rubber products. In this review, we summarize the general features of 'the reinforcement of rubber by fillers' and the equations for representing the reinforcement phenomena. The rubber reinforcement was attributed to enhancement of the following: the rubber, bound rubber, formation of networks, and combination between rubber chains and silica followed by entanglement. The reinforcement capability of silica species with different surface and networked states demonstrated the importance of the connection between the silica particles and the rubber chains in achieving high reinforcement. The model involving combination followed by entanglement can provide a plausible explanation of the reinforcement of rubber by carbon black and silica because the combination facilitates the concentration of rubber chains near the filler particles, and entanglement of the rubber chains around the filler particles enforces the resistance against deformation and breakage of rubber compounds, resulting in high reinforcement.
