  • 시스템 침입은 정보통신기술의 비약적인 발전에 따른 정보화의 역기능으로, 이론 해결하기 위한 다양한 방법들이 제안되어 왔다. 그러나 최근 침입 패러다임의 변화로 인해 기존 방법으로 해결하지 못하는 공격이 발생했으며, 그중 보안 시스템 우회나 보안 시스템 자체에 대한 공격은 기존 보안 도구를 무력화시킬 수도 있다. 본 논문에서는 이를 해결하기 위한 방법으로 고전적인 결함허용 기법을 응용한 결함허용 기능을 정의하고 이를 이용한 계층적 시스템 모델을 제안한다. 또한, 보안 시스템의 특성에 맞는 결함 허용 기능 선택을 위한 기준으로 비용 기반 선택 모델을 제안한다.

Mechanism for Managing Fault-Tolerant Embedded Real-Time Tasks (결함허용이 가능한 임베디드 실시간 태스크 관리 메커니즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a mechanism for both scheduling the hybrid-task set which consists of periodic and aperiodic tasks and recovering tasks with transient faults on the level of the operating system. Existing embedded operating systems would not provide the scheduling of both periodic and aperiodic tasks. Also because of not supporting the recovery of task failures, they can not prevent system failure from transient task faults. Proposed method, on the level of operating system, is able to not only meet the deadlines of all periodic tasks but also complete the execution of aperiodic tasks. In addition, it is able to prevent the system failure from transient task faults by recovering the task faults.

  • RPC(Remote Procedure Call) has been studied for programmer to easily write distributed program of little bit higher efficiency and reliability. In this study, fault-tolerant remote procedure call for hardware failures is proposed. Fault-tolerance is supplied by replicated procedures with node group, so called chain, and copies along chains are linearly ordered. Calls for procedure are sent to primary copy along chains, and other copies are propagated internally. If failures happen, first copy in faultless chain returns the result to the caller, Especially, in this study processing of redundant call message and result message, while using limited ack message, are avoided. This method supplies efficient and reliable fault-tolerance compared with existing remote procedure call.

  • Current CORBA has been suggested a solution for complexity of software in distributed environment. But it can't provide reliability about data transfer. For instance, CORBA can't provide object to client when the network are unstable or congested. In an existing CORBA, client has to wait when there is congestion between client and object implementation while client get a service from object implementation. So In this paper, we propose Fault-Tolerant CORBA Service (FTS) which has an intelligent redirection about an object that client requests. Moreover, we designed and implemented Fault-Tolerant Service to provide reliability by extending existing CORBA ORB. Therefore it provides reliable connection throughout the proposed Fault-Tolerant Service.

침입감내기술 연구 동향

  • 침입감내기술은 기존의 침입차단이나 탐지기술에 의하여 해결될 수 없었던 알려지지 않은 취약점을 이용하는 공격에 의하여 발생하는 시스템의 피해를 방지하기 위한 기술이며, 중요 서비스의 품질요구사항과 지속성 요구사항 만족을 위하여 의존성 특성의 만족이 필요하다. 이러한 침입감내시스템은 결함허용기술과 정보보호기술이 결합된 형태로 접근이 시도되고 있다. 침입감내기술에서는 일반적으로 결함허용기법들이 고려하고 있는 우발적 사고가 아닌 악의적 공격에서 일어날 수 있는 상황들에 대한 고려가 매우 중요하다. 그러므로 침입감내기술에서는 결함허용기술에서 고려하는 것 외에 보안취약성과 공격 개념의 도입, 침입의 탐지와 대처 등 보안성에 대한 요구사항 만족이 필요하다.

  • A rapid growth of internet and sudden increase of multimedia data demands for high-speed transfer media and if optimizec usage from the interface system. To achieve this level of network bandwidth, multiple NICs for support of high-speed network bandwidth have been developed and studied. Furthermore, the use of multiple NICs can provide high-speed LAN environment without large network environment modification, supports backward compatibility of current system and reduce overhead. However. if system failure is caused by SPOF(Single Point of Failure) fault of large-capacity multiple NICs, incredible loss will be met because it services large capacity of multimedia data, Therefore, to prevent loss coming from faults, we describe 'Fault tolerance of multiple NICs', which use the fault prevention mechanism. Considering inefficiency of availability and serviceability that is occurred with existing TMR, Primary-Standby approach and Watchdog time mechanism, we propose and design the efficient fault tolerance mechanism, which minimize down time as changing of detection period dynamically. Consequently, the fault tolerance mechanism proposed for reducing overhead time when the fault is occurred, should minimize system downtime overall.

  • Embedded Systems need to ensure real-time of the task response time depending on the applied fields of it. And task could be faulty due to various reasons in real time systems. Therefore in this paper, we design a task scheduler that guarantees deadlines of periodic tasks and considers a fault tolerance of defective task in embedded system with a single processor. In order to provide real-time, we classify tasks with periodic/aperiodic tasks and applies RMS(Rate Monotonic Scheduling) method to schedule periodic tasks and can guarantees execution of aperiodic tasks by managing surplus times obtained after analyzing the execution time of periodic tasks. In order to provide fault tolerance, we manage backup times and reexecute a fault task to restore it's conditions.

  • In this paper, we suggest a checkpoint and recovery facility for the fault-tolerable process which is expected to be executed for a long time. The basic concept of the suggested facility is to allow the process to be executed continuously, when the process was stopped due to a System fault, by storing the execution status of the process periodically and recovering the execution status prior to the fault was occurred. In the suggested facility, it does not need to modify the source code for the fault-tolerable process. It was designed for the user to specify directly the file name and the checkpoint frequency, and two system calls(save, recover) were added. finally, it was implemented on the Linux environment(kernel 2.4.18) for checking the feasibility.

  • 최근 SPAX와 중대형 컴퓨터 시스템에서 OLTP와 DSS와 같은 대용량 고속 자료 처리 서버로서의 자료 무결성 문제는 기술적으로 선결되어야 한 중요한 사용자 요구 사항 중의 하나이다. 자료 무결성에 대한 기술적 해결의 한 방안으로 응용 프로그램 수준의 결함허용 기법을 제공하기도 한다. 그러나 응용 프로그램 수준의 결함허용 기법은 자료를 저장한 매체의 관리 권한 밖에 존재함으로써 고장의 발생과 복구에 일정 제한을 가진다. 따라서 디스크와 같이 일반 파일 시스템을 구성하는 중요한 매체들에 저장된 자료의 무결성을 커널 수준에서 보장하고 응용 프로그램에 투명성을 의장 할 수 있는 연구가 향후 기술 동향의 한 축을 이루고 있다. 본 연구에서는 마이크로 커널을 기반으로 상위 서버로서 결함허용 파일서버의 설계에 관한 내용을 제안한다.

  • This paper is based on multicasting model in k-ary n-cubes, and Proposes an adaptive wormhole routing algorithm which allows faults and channel contention. The proposed algorithm only requires $2{\times}n$ virtual channels per physical channel which is proportional to the dimension n in order to allow (n-1) faults in a k-ary n-cube. This method uses smaller number of virtual channels than the previously Proposed adaptive routing algorithms [5, 18]. Through a chaos simulator, we have measured message delay considering fault-tolerant as well as message traffic to our adaptive routing algorithm.
