구조용 세라믹스 강도의 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구 (Study on the Reliability of Engineering Ceramics)

  • 소결온도 및 열처리에 의하여 미세조직을 변화시킨 질화규소의 파괴강도특성 및 그 신뢰성 평가를 하였다. 결정립이 클수록 파괴인성치는 증가하였지만 굽힘강도는 저하하였다. 균열재의 파괴응력 $\sigma$c와 등가균열길이 ae와의 관계는 프로세스 존 크기 파기기준에 의한 계산 결과와 매우 잘 일치하였다. 그리고 굽힘파괴응력 $\sigma$F와 파괴인성치 KIC의 통계적 특성을 고려한 파괴평가고건을 제안하였다.

429EM 강의 내식성에 미치는 결정립 크기의 영향 (The Effect of Grain Size on the Corrosion Resistance of 429EM Steel)

  • The effects of grain size on the corrosion resistance of 429EM ferritic stainless steels for automobile exhaust system were investigated. Using specimens held at maximum service temperature of $950^{\circ}C$ for 10~70 hours, electrochemical polarization tests were conducted. While corrosion current density, $I_{corr}$, was influenced little by grain size, pitting potential, $E_p$, was increased with an increase of grain size. Sensitizaton at grain boundary occurred when the specimen were held at $950^{\circ}C$ for above 50 hours because of the dissolution of precipitates and grain coarsening.

  • A split-spectrum processing technique for an ultrasonic flaw detection system has been developed, which improves the flaw-to-grain echo ratio in large-grained materials. The enhancement is achieved by partitioning a wide-band received spectrum to obtain frequency shifted bands, which are then processed to suppress the grain echoes with respect to the flaw echo, using a novel signal minimization algorithm. A technique for suppression of grain echoes has also been devised which takes advantage of the fact that the grain echo amplitude changes with the frequency of the incident ultrasound whereas the flaw echo amplitude does not. The combination of this technique and the new flaw detection system greatly improve the capabilities of ultrasonic evaluation of large grain materials.

열처리온도에 따른 CdS박막 특성 (Characteristics of CdS thin film depending on annealing temperature)

  • Polycrystalline CdS thin films were deposited by using EBE method and its crystal structure, surface morphology, electrical and optical properties as a function of annealing temperature were investigated. It was found that optimum growth conditions were substrate temperature annealing temperature 300[.deg. C]. The films were hexagonal structure preferred(002) plane and maximum grain size was 421[.angs.]. As the results, resistivity and optical transmittance of CdS thin films were $8.3{\times}{10^3}$[.ohm.cm] and 89[%] respectively.

  • ZIO 박막은 RF 마그네트론법으로 다양한 $In_{2}O_{3}$ 함량을 소결체 ZIO 타겟을 사용하여 유리 기판위에 증착되었다. $In_{2}O_{3}$ 9.54 wt%를 함유한 ZIO 타겟을 이용하여 PT에서 증착한 박막이 가장 낮은 비저항 $9.13{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$를 나타내었다. 전기적 특성을 향상시키기 위하여 기판온도를 상승하였으나 오히려 전기적 특성이 저하되는 결과를 나타났다. 게다가 기계적 특성 역시 기판온도 상승에 따라 저하되었다. 한편 XRD 측정을 통하여 기판온도 200과 $300^{\circ}C$에서 ZnO (002) 면과 $In_{2}O_{3}$ (400) 면이 동시에 관찰되었다. 그러므로 전기적, 기계적 특성의 저하는 상분리, 결정립크기의 감소와 같은 결정성 저하에 기인한다고 생각된다.

초음파법에 의한 저탄소강의 페라이트 결정립 크기 측정 (Measurement of Ferrite Grain Size by Ultrasonic Method in Low Carbon Steel)

  • Grain size of steels is one of the most important parameters which influence yield strength and fracture toughness. Ultrasonic wave propagating in polycrystalline materials is mostly attenuated by scattering at grain boundary. Effect of ultrasonic attenuation on average ferrite grain size of carbon steels with tensile strength $40{\sim}60kgf/mm^2$ consisting of multi phases such as ferrite + pearlite and ferrite + pearlite + bainite was evaluated. The attenuation of these steels rapidly increased with average ferrite grain diameter. Average ferrite grain diameter ($D_{av}$, ${\mu}m$) could be expressed as $1.79+22.97*a^{1/2.03}$, where a is attenuation with unit of nepers/cm. From this study, it was confirmed that nondestructive ultrasonic method could be used in measuring average ferrite grain size indirectly.

  • It was carried out to evaluate microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded(FSW) on magnesium alloys. Two types magnesium alloy was used in this work, AZ31 wrought and AZ91 cast magnesium alloy. Microstructure near the weld zone showed general weld structures such as stir zone(SZ), thermo-mechanically affected zone(TMAZ) and heat affected zone(HAZ). In the AZ91 alloy, the SZ had a fine grain size and $\beta$ phase particles which were well distributed in matrix. It was characterized to redistribute by partial or full re-solution of the $\beta$ phase which is coarse in base metal during FSW processing. The hardness of the SZ slightly increase than the base metal in AZ31 Mg alloy.

  • A metallurgical model for the phase transformation kinetics at Coarsened Grain Heat Affected Zone(CGHAZ) on the basis of Johnson-Mehl-Avrami equation(JMA equation) was proposed. In this model, the effect of prior austenite grain size on the transformation and the morphological changes of ferrite were considered. Isothermal dilatometer tests were performed to determine the effect of prior austenite grain size (AGS) on the austenite decomposition to ferrite and pearlite in a plain carbon steel. By comparing the calculated volume fraction with measured data, the reliability of the developed model was discussed.

Ni 함량과 W 결정립 크기에 따른 W-Ni 활성소결체의 고온압축 특성 (Effect of the Ni Content and W Grain Size on the High Temperature Com-pressive Properties of W-Ni Activated Sintered Parts)

  • High temperature deformation behavior of activated sintered W powder compacts was investigated. The compression tests were carried out in the temperature range between 900 and 110$0^{\circ}C$ at the strain rate of $10^{-3}s^{-1}$. The sintered specimens of Ni-doped submicron W powder compacts showed decrease in W grain size with increasing the Ni content. As the result, the flow stress was significantly increased with increasing the Ni content. We obtained Ni-activated sintered W compacts with the relative density of 94 $\pm$ l%and the average grain size of less than 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. A moderate true strain up to 0.60 was obtained without fracture even at 110$0^{\circ}C$ with the strain rate of $10^{-3}s^{-1}$ for the activated W compact despite adding the 1.0 wt%Ni to submicron W powder.

TiO2 세라믹 전극의 광전기 화학 변환에 미치는 결정립 크기와 첨가제 ZnO의 영향 (Influence of Grain Size and Dopant ZnO on the Photoelectrochemical Conversion in TiO2 Ceramic Electrods)

  • The effects of grain size and dopant ZnO on the photoelectrochemical conversion in TiO2 ceramic electrodes have been investigated. The photocurrent increases with increasing grain size in the undoped TiO2 ceramic electrode. In ZnO-doped TiO2 electrodes, the photocurrent decreases with increasing ZnO up to 0.4 wt% due to decrease of donor concentration, and then with further addition of ZnO, photocurrent increases according to the formation of second phase. However, the photoresponse appears at wavelength of 420nm, which is very close to the energy band gap of TiO2, regardless of grain size and amount of ZnO.
