Development of the Encouraging Language Model for Elementary School Teachers (초등학교 교사를 위한 격려 언어 모형 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to draw the elements of encouraging language from the literatures of encouragement and develop the encouraging language model for elementary school teachers. To achieve this, first of all, the literatures about the methods of encouragement were collected. And then the collected literatures were categorized according to the main concept which each literature contained. As a result, 5 categories and 17 subcategories were drawn. 5 categories were valuing a child as a human-being itself, trusting a child, thinking rationally about a child's mistakes, giving a feedback about a child's behaviors non-evaluatively, and reflecting a child's positive feeling. These 5 categories were established as the elements of encouraging language. The encouraging language model was developed on the bases of the 5 elements of encouraging language. The model was constructed of the examples of encouraging language in various classroom situations. The model contains various situations which elementary school teachers often confront in their classrooms. And the model shows the examples of encouraging language proper for each situation. Every example was constructed on the bases of the elements of encouraging language.

Effect of Science Learning Motivation and Science Self-Efficacy on the Science Learning Flow of Preservice Elementary Teachers (초등예비교사의 과학 학습동기, 과학적 자기효능감이 과학 학습몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of science learning motivation and science self-efficacy on the science learning flow of preservice elementary teachers. The study recruited 77 preservice elementary teachers during their sophomore year from the B university of education. Descriptive statistics, correlation coefficient, and multiple regression were used for data analysis. The results were as follows: science learning motivation and science self-efficacy exerted a significant positive correlation with and a statistically significant effect on science learning flow. Satisfaction was the main influential subelement of science learning motivation. For science self-efficacy, the main influential subelements were emotional stability and language encouragement. Moreover, it was deduced that self-efficacy exerted a greater effect on science learning flow than science learning motivation.

A Study on Family Health on Ego Resiliency in the Students of Dental Hygiene College (일부 치위생과 대학생에서 가족건강성과 자아탄력성에 관한 연구)

  • The college student times corresponds to the stage of important transition from social aspects. Thus, this study were carried out to propose the necessity of recognizing and managing its importance by grasping family strength parts of students majored in dental hygiene that affected influences to ego-resiliency. The study was composed of 553 girl students who were studying in department of dental hygiene, 3-year system at 6 colleges. Regarding to collecting datum, it was performed from September to December 2012 through examiners' interview questionnaires. Component parts of the family strength affecting influences to confidence, interpersonal effectiveness, and optimistic attitudes that were constituents of eco-resiliency appeared to communications between family members and sharing of value system from the members. Through above results, it is judged that dialogue-promoting programs by which verbal-nonverbal transfer processes could be formed have to be made in order to strength component parts of the family strength, and programs that were able to bring up students' humanistic knowledge shall be activated in school.

Analysis of North Korean Primary English Curriculum (북한의 소학교 영어과 교육과정 분석)

  • This paper aims to analyze and introduce the primary English curriculum of North Korea reformulated according to the New Educational Program. Sources for analysis are the 4th and 5th primary school English syllabus based on the New Educational Program, explanations of the New Educational Program appeared in People's Education and Kim, Jeong-Il's selected writings. The analytical sources are classified into characteristics, objectives, contents, methods and evaluation. The findings are as follows: The primary English education aims to reach to the basis of middle school English by learning English alphabets and basic English expressions. 4th graders learn basic oral English such as pronunciation, stress and intonation for the first semester and learn English alphabets and their sounds for the second semester. 5th graders learn familiar topics in English and repeatedly practice the important components of English such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The method is to maintain students' interests in English and encourage students to use classroom English. Also, structural practice is an important part of the method. Evaluation is primarily process-oriented and must motivate students to excel in English rather than fail in English.
