Accuracy Estimation of Video Image Detector Considering Heteroscedasticity (이분산성을 고려한 영상검지기 정확도 추정)

  • The accuracy of a Video Image Detector (VID) is gradually reduced due to various environmental and mechanical factors. However, there has been no systematic research about the decrease of VID accuracy. To maintain a proper level of VID accuracy for advanced traffic management, a regular VID calibration process needs to be introduced. However, the calibration cannot be performed frequently because of the cost. In this study, the researchers collected field data for accuracy estimation and inferred an accuracy decreasing function by using regression and considering the heteroscedasticity problem. Using the invented data collection equipment which was used for checking adaptability, some data in the field were collected and analyzed. Although the data were limited, the results are promising. More data need to be investigated in the future and this study will help to maintain the data quality for broad utilization of the data in ITS centers.

Development of Train Velocity and Location Tracking Algorithm for a Constant Warning Time System (철도건널목 정시간 제어를 위한 열차속도 및 위치추적방식 개발)

  • About 91.1% of Railway-Highway Crossings (RHC) in Korea use a Constant Distance Warning System(CDWS), while about 8.9% use a Constant Warning Time System(CWTS). The CDWS does not recognize speed differences of approaching trains and provides only waiting times to vehicles and pedestrians based on the highest speed of approaching trains. Under the CDWS, therefore, low speed trains provide unnecessary waiting times at crossings which often generates complains to vehicle drivers and pedestrians and may cause wrong decisions to pass the crossings. The objective of this research is to improve the safety of the RHC by developing accurate a CWTS. In this research a train speed and location detection system was developed with ultra sonic detectors. Locations of the detectors was decided based on the highest speed and the minimum warning time of Saemaul of 160 km/h. To validate the algorithms of the newly developed systems the lab tests were conducted. The results show that the train detection system provides accurate locations of trains and the maximum error between real speeds of trains and those of the system was 0.07m/s.

  • Nowadays image processing is very useful for some field of traffic applications. The one reason is we can construct the system in a low price, the other is the improvement of hardware processing power, it can be more fast to processing the data. In traffic field, the development of image using system is interesting issue. Because it has the advantage of price of installation and it does not obstruct traffic during the installation. In this study, 1 propose the traffic monitoring system that implement on the embedded system environment. The whole system consists of two main part, one is host controller board, the other is image processing board. The part of host controller board take charge of control the total system interface of external environment, and OSD(On screen display). The part of image processing board takes charge of image input and output using video encoder and decoder, Image classification and memory control of using FPGA, control of mouse signal. And finally, for stable operation of host controller board, uC/OS-II operating system is ported on the board.

A Study on the Development and Accuracy Improvement of an IR Combustible Gas Leak Detector with Explosion Proof (방폭형 적외선 가연성가스 누출검지기 개발 및 정확도 향상 연구)

  • In this paper, we developed an explosion proof type and portable combustible gas leak detector and proposed an algorithm to improve the accuracy for measuring gaseous concentrations. The nation's first we developed an infrared gas leak detector with explosion proof standard(Ex d ib) and improved measuring accuracy by using linearization recursion equation and 2nd Lagrange interpolation polynomial. Together, we advanced their performances and added their easy functions after investigating field demands. To compare our and other company's detectors, we performed measurement tests with eight standard gases made by Korea Gas Safety Corporation. We demonstrated the excellence of our instruments in measuring accuracy other than detecters through experimental results.
