A Study on the Standardization of QSCC II (Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II) (사상체질분류검사지(四象體質分類檢査紙)(QSCC)II의 표준화(標準化) 연구(硏究) - 각 체질집단의 군집별(群集別) Profile 분석을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate and standardize the four scales of Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification  II (QSCCII). QSCCII is newly prepared by statistical item analysis and is designed to examine its diagnostic discriminability. QSCCII is administered to 1366 random informants. From the survey, we could get the data for the standardization. The criteria of standardization are based on the data from 265 informants who are examined by professionals. Collectted data are analyzed by internal consistency, variation analysis(ANOVA), Duncan test and discrimination analysis of SPSS PC+ V4.0 program. The results are as follows reliability of four scales for QSCCII is relatively valid. The internal consistency of Tae-yang(太陽) (太陽) scale is Cronbach's a=0.5708. That of So-yang(少陽) scale is a=0.5708. That of Tae-eum(太陰) scale is a =0.5922. That of So-eum(少陰) scale is a=0.6319. 2. There is a significant difference between each group through variation analysis of four scales. 3. The process of standardization is based on the average value and standard deviation with respect to age and sex difference of each criteria 4. This study suggests a source of standardization of Sasang Constitution Classification by providing norms in which the differences of age, sex, and number of items are taken into deep consideration. QSCC Ⅱ, therefore, can be applied to every age(the 10's to the 60's) and sex groups. 5. The recalculation of the raw-score to standard value (T-score) shows that the diagnostic discriminability (Hit-ratio: 70.08%) of QSCC Ⅱ brings about 37% improvement than proportional chance criteria (33.33%). Especially, Hit-ratios of Tae-eum In(74.5%) and So-eum In(70.8%) are higher than that of So-yang In(60.0%). 6. QSCC has discriminability only to male informants. Compared with QSCC, however, QSCC II has relatively efficient discriminability both to male and female informants. 7. These results would be a demonstration of the fact that the QSCC II could be used as a tool for sasang constitution classification.

  • To produce an input device stably using the transparent electromagnetic pattern of an electromagnetic induction method, pattern inspection is required in advance in the production process. Various methods of inspecting the capacitive pattern for hand-touch have been proposed, but it is difficult to find the related technical data for the pattern inspection method of the transparent electromagnetic induction method. In this study, to develop an inspection system for a fused electromagnetic resonance pen sensor with a copper-etched metal mesh pattern, an inspection algorithm and method for measuring the antenna impedance inside the sensor was proposed by measuring only the exposed FPCB connector. The proposed method was configured as a control board consisting of a microprocessor that forms a loop between specific channels according to the command of a computer, a computer-controlled by the Windows program, an LCR meter measuring the impedance between specific channels, and transmitting the measurement results back to the computer. An evaluation of the proposed system and measurements of nine specimens showed that it could detect the defects of the sensor used in the actual product.

Results of Secondary Antibiotics Susceptibility Test for Gram Negative Bacilli Resistant to Primary Susceptibility Test in Yeungnam University Hospital (기본 항생제에 내성을 보인 그람 음성 간균에 대한 2차적 항생제 감수성 검사 결과)

  • Major pathogenic Gram-negative organisms such as P. aeruginosa, Serratia species, E. coli, Enterobacter species which are isolated from the specimens in large medical centers are greatly resistant to the commonly used antibiotics. Gram-negative bacilli, which had been isolated in Yeungnam University Hospital during the period from December 1992 to April 1993 and turned out to be resistant to the primary antibiotics susceptibility test for chloramphenicol, ampicillin, cephalothin, gentamicin, tetracyclin, amikin and tobramycin, were subjected to the secondary antibiotics susceptibility test for aztreonam, ceftazidime, ciprofioxacine, cefotaxime, cefamandole, piperacillin, ticarcillin and sulfamethoxazole trimethopime. Out of 315 tested organisms, 167 organisms(53%) were resistant to all secondary antibiotics in vitro. Antimicrobial activity of ceftazidime(37.1%), aztreonam(11.%), ciprofioxacine(7.9%) against Gram negative bacilli were slightly more active than other antibiotics tested, while cefamandole was not active to all the Gram-negative bacilli tested. According to the specimens, E. coli was the most frequently resistant organisms to the primary antibiotics from urine, A. baumanii, from respiratory system and wounds, and P. aeruginosa from various specimens. In summary, Gram negative bacilli resistant to the primarily applied antibiotics also were resistant to the secondary antibiotics. Rearrangement of the antibiotics disks for the antibiotic susceptibility test should be considered.

  • Recently there are many people who suffer from a mental problem like depression or anxiety caused by the stress of employment or school works. Some mental care agencies serve a campaign for them, but it's less accessible due to the geographic distance. And before taking the service, people should find out what is a better psychological test for them to diagnose the problem. Furthermore, it is inconvenient that keeping the diagnosis which is written in some papers. In his paper, in order to solve these problems, suggests the novel platform that serves psychological tests to users and stores results into database so that involved agencies could contact quickly. The psychological tests BAI, BDI, PHQ-15, and Q-15 were used to verify the reliability and effectiveness of the platform.

A Literature Survey of Machine Learning Based Obstructive Sleep Apnea Diagnosis Research

  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) among sleep disorders is one of relatively common diseases. Patients can be checked for the disease through sleep polysomnography. However, as far as he diagnosis of OSA using polysomnography (PSG) is concerned, many practical problems such as an increasing number of patients, expensive testing cost, discomfort during examination, and the limited number of people for testing have been pointed out. Accordingly, for the purpose of substituting PSG researchers have been actively conducting studies on OSA diagnosis based on machine learning using bio signals. In this regard, we review a rich body of existing OSA diagnosis studies applying machine learning techniques based on bio-signal data. As a result, this paper presents a novel taxonomy of the reviewed studies and provides their comprehensive comparative analysis results. Also, we reveal various limitations of the studies using the bio signals and suggest several improvements about utilization of the used machine learning methods. Finally, this paper presents future research topics related to the application of machine learning techniques using bio signals.

Comparative evaluation of indirect immunofluorescent antibody test with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in serodiagnosis of human neurocysticercosls (뇌낭미충증의 혈청학적 진단에 있어서 간접 형광항체 반응 및 효소연결성 면역흡착 검사의 비교 평가)

  • The applicability of indirect immunoftuorescent antibody test (IFAT) was compared with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in sera from 163 cases of confirmed neurocysticercosis, 101 other neurologic and parasitic diseases and 100 normal controls. As antigen, frozen sections of a Taenia solium metacestode from a human brain was used in IFAT and cystic fluid was used in ELISA. For the detection of specific IgG antibody, IFAT was equally sensitive (89.6%) and specific (85.1%) as ELISA. The antibody titers by IFAT were correspondingly increased with mean absorbance of ELISA. The corresponding rate of positivity in the two techniques was 90.8%. Except for the difficulty in detecting antibodies in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), IFAT was concluded to be very useful for the serodiagnosis of human neurocysticercosis.

Feasibility Study of Remote Field Eddy Current Testing for Nonmagnetic Steam Generator Tubes (비자성 증기발생기 전열관의 원격장와전류 탐상 가능성 연구)

  • As steam generator (SG) tubes have aged, new and subtle flaws have appeared. Most of them start growing from outside the tubes. Since signals from outer diameter (OD) defects are very weak compared to those from inner diameter (ID) defects in the conventional eddy current testing due to skin effect, this paper studies the feasibility of using remote field eddy current (RFEC) technique, which has shown equal sensitivity to ID and OD defects in the ferromagnetic pipe inspection. Finite element modeling studies show that the operating frequency needs to be increased up to a few hundred kHz in order for RFEC effects to occur in the nonmagnetic SG tube. The proper distance between exciter and sensor coils is also found to be about 1.5 OD, which is half the distance used in the ferromagnetic pipe inspection. Defect signals obtained by the designed RFEC probe show equal sensitivity to ID and OD defects and the existence of linear relationship between defect depth and phase signal strength. These results tell us that RFEC inspection is feasible even in nonmagnetic steam generator tubes.

Preconception and Conceptual Change about Season on Elementary School Students (계절 변화에 대한 초등학생의 선개념과 개념 변화 양상)

  • This study was to investigate the preconception and phases of children's conceptual change about season through an instruction on the concept. Participants in the study were seventy-eight fifth graders in two classrooms of an elementary school located in Incheon city. Children's preconception was examined using a questionnaire, consisted of a drawing and literal explanation. The questionnaire also was used at the midterm-test, post-test, and one-week delayed-test. The results shows several findings as follows: some children (a) change their synthetic conceptions to form another synthetic conceptions through the instruction; (b) exhibit that their conceptions are unstable; and (c) are mainly influenced by distance and heating effect on the seasonal spatial distribution between the Earth and the Sun, and by the Earth's rotation on the seasonal change of constellations in acquiring the scientific concepts.

  • In this paper, we propose a web-based programming class support system to help a lecturer to teach a programming language to students effectively. The proposed system is composed of a error analysis step and a verification step. The error analysis step checks whether there are compile time errors or run time errors in each student's submitted program. Given some errors, the system provides helpful feedback for the student to fix the errors. On the contrary, the system provides quick feedback after checking the source code style, comments, and plagiarism in the submitted program. As soon as the student submits the program, the student can see the check results. According to the result of utilizing the proposed system in a C programming language class, students tend to submit program assignments actively.
