A Study on the Measurement of Water Content in Hydrogel Contact Lens by Gravimetric Method (중량측정법에 의한 하이드로젤 콘택트렌즈의 함수율 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand a relation of water content measurement with two different method, water removal method and dry method. Methods: 72 hydrogel contact lens containing various water content (ranged from 47% to 58%) were measured by the gravimetric method at 20$^{\circ}C$and 21% of the humidity. We weighed the dried test specimen at room temperature for 30 min after cooling. Results: In dry blotting method, the water content was measured to 47.43${\pm}$8.48%. The water contents was measured to 48.15${\pm}$8.36% with wet blotting condition. It was found that wet blotting method showed the higher water content of about 7% than dry blotting method. In water content with two dry methods, each of results was measured by 47.89${\pm}$8.06% and 49.56${\pm}$7.06%. In case of microwave method, the water content was measured significantly higher water content of about 1.67% than vacuum oven method. However, no statistical difference was found (p>0.05). Conclusions: In water removal method (Dry blotting method and Wet blotting method) to weigh hydrated test specimen, wet blotting method showed significantly higher water content than dry blotting method. Also in case of dry methods (vacuum oven and microwave) to weigh dry test specimen, water content of microwave method showed higher water content than vacuum oven method, but it should be noted that microwave oven method must be used carefully to measure accurateness on the specimen position and wave power.

Comparison of physical properties and air permeability in the sawdust during wetting and drying procedure (습윤 및 건조과정에서의 톱밥내 물리적 성상과 공기투과성의 변화)

  • Moisture is one of the important design factors that affects to the changes of physical properties and air permeability in the composting matrix. This study examines the effects of moisture during the wetting and drying procedure on physical properties like bulk density, particle size, free air space and air permeability in the sawdust used as the bulking agent in composting process. During both procedures of wetting and drying of the water, with increasing moisture content, bulk density and particle size increased, but FAS decreased. In the range of near 40 to 60% moisture content on a wet basis, particle size and FAS in wetting procedure were larger and higher than those in drying procedure. During wetting procedure, pressure drop continuously decreased ranging from near 20 to 60% moisture content, despite of decreasing FAS as a consequence of increasing moisture, and then over the range of 60% moisture content, pressure drop rapidly increased to the saturated moisture condition while the pore space was filled with the water. On the other hand, during drying procedure, pressure drop decreased from the saturated condition to 40% moisture content. In the recommended range of 50 to 60% moisture content for composting operation, pressure drop in wetting procedure were lower than in drying procedure. For the enhancement of the air permeability in the composting matrix, the wetting procedure was proper than the drying procedure, and the optimum moisture content for the efficient composting operation was appeared to be near 60%.

Remediation of the Diesel Contaminated Soils Using Thermally Enhanced Soil Vapor Extraction Process with Microwave Heating (마이크로웨이브 가열 토양증기추출 공정에 의한 경유 오염 토양처리)

  • Removal efficiencies for diesel fuel and diesel hydrocarbons ($C_10$$C_22$) using microwave-enhanced SVE process were evaluated with dry and moist soil, respectively. Diesel removal rates of microwave-enhanced SVE process were 7 times for dry soil and 1580 times for moist soil as great as those of the SVE process without microwave heating. High dielectric property of water contents may accelerate the absorption of microwave energy into soil and thus vaporized the diesel fuel components drastically. The diesel removals were 67.7∼78.4% for $C_10$ and $C_12$, and 0∼18.5% for $C_14$$C_22$ for dry and moist soil with SVE process only. On the other hand, dry soil with microwave-enhanced SVE process showed 89.3∼99.4% removal for $C_10$ to and $C_12$ and 35.6∼67.0% for hydrocarbons over $C_14$. All hydrocarbons ($C_10$$C_22$) studied were significantly removed (93.6∼99.8%) for moist soil with microwave-enhanced SVE process.

Effect of Total Resistance of Electrochemical Cell on Electrochemical Impedance of Reinforced Concrete Using a Three-Electrode System (3전극방식을 활용한 철근 콘크리트의 교류임피던스 측정 시 전기화학 셀저항의 영향)

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of total electrochemical cell resistance (TECR) on electrochemical impedance (EI) measurements of reinforced concrete (RC) by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) using a three-electrode system. A series of experimental study is performed to measure electrochemical behavior of a steel bar embedded in a concrete cube specimen, with a side length of 200 mm, in various experimental conditions. Main variables include concrete dry conditions, coupling resistance between sensing electrodes and concrete surface, and area of the counter electrode. It is demonstrated that EI values remains stable when the compliant voltage of a measuring device is sufficiently great compared to the potential drop caused by TECR of concrete specimens. It is confirmed that the effect of the coupling resistance of TECR is far more influential than other two factors (concrete dry conditions and area of the counter electrode). The results in this study can be used as a fundamental basis for development of a surface-mount sensor for corrosion monitoring of reinforced concrete structures exposed to wet-and-dry cycles under marine environment.

  • This research is about the drying and curing characteristic of conductivity metallic ink on-line curing device in order to improve the curing time for productivity in RFID Gravure printing. The curing process is carried out to increase the electric conductivity after the metallic ink is printed on the substrate. The metal ink is composed of nano-sized silver or copper particles. In this research, the combined IR and Hot air curing system is used and its results is compared with those of oven, IR and Hot Air type respectively. Generally the curing time in the past is about 3 minutes. But the combined system (IR+Hot Air) in this research shows that curing time is less than 30 seconds. These results is much faster than those of other system. This study can be help to make Roll-to-Roll drying and curing process for mass and continuous production on-line.

Reduction Effect of Various Air Purifiers on Airborne Microorganism for Preventing Air Infected Animal Disease (공기감염성 가축질병 예방을 위한 공기청정기 유형에 따른 부유 미생물의 제거 효과)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate reduction efficiency of various air purifiers on airborne microorganism causing air infected animal disease according to sample collection method. Collection efficiencies of MS2 virus and Pseudomonas fluorescens by biosampler was significantly higher than those by button sampler (p<0.05). Regardless of types of air purifier and sample collection method, temporal reduction efficiencies of MS2 virus and P. fluorescens compared to initial background concentration were >50% and >45% on 5 minutes, >70% and >50% on 15 minutes, >80% and >70% on 30 minutes and >90% and >75% on 60 minutes after operating air purifier, respectively. The air purifier of ionizer type showed the highest reduction efficiency on MS2 virus followed by air purifier of electronic precipitation, water filter and dry filter while the reduction efficiency of air purifier on P. fluorescens was highest in the electronic precipitation type followed by ionizer type, dry filter type and water filter type (p<0.05). Based on the results obtained from this study, temporal reduction efficiency of air purifier on MS2 virus was relatively higher than P. fluorescens.

  • 전자빔을 이용하던 CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) 모니터에서 픽셀단위의 LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 디스플레이 사용으로 휴대용 정보처리 장치들은 급속한 발전을 이루게 되었다. 기존의 CRT 모니터에서 전자빔을 사용하던 방식에서 픽셀(Pixel) 단위의 후면발광 디스플레이를 만들면서 CRT 모니터보다 빠른 응답특성을 나타내며 저 전력일 뿐만 아니라 디스플레이의 두께도 줄일 수 있게 되었다. 휴대가 가능한 디스플레이의 발전으로 노트북이나 PDA와 같은 실시간 정보를 활용 및 처리 할 수 있는 방법들을 제시할 수 있었지만 원활한 활용을 위해 더 적은 전력을 사용하는 방법들이 제시되어야 했다. 이에 따라 저 전력 소모, 빠른 응답특성, 넓은 시야각 그리고 경량화가 가능한 디스플레이가 되기 위한 새로운 디스플레이가 선을 보이게 되었다. 현재 차세대 디스플레이로 각광을 받고 있는 디스플레이 소자로는 OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode)가 있다 이는 LCD 디스플레이가 가지고 있는 단점을 보완하여 우선적으로 높은 색도가 가능하며 후면발광을 사용하지 않고 자체 발광을 하기 때문에 저 전력 소모가 현실화되었다. 또한 디스플레이의 유동성이 가능하여 휘어질 수 있는 특성을 가지고 있다. 그러나 이러한 유기발광 소자의 경우 높은 발광 효율을 위한 구조적 개선이 필요하며 소자의 수명도 개선해야 한다. 이에 따라 유기발광 소자의 메카니즘에 대한 파악이 필요하게 되며 물리적 구조에 대한 이해가 필요하다. 이를 위해 물리적, 수치적 해석으로 소자의 특성을 파악해 줌으로써 개선된 유기발광 소자 제작이 가능 할 것이다.기에 대한 영향정도를 측정하여 정량적으로 도출하였다. 이를 각 구간에 대해 상호 비교 분석함으로써 대형국책사업에서의 공기지연인자에 대한 분석 방법론을 정립하였고 공기지연 분석 방법론의 현실적 적용을 위한 제언과 그에 따른 개선사항에 대해 도출하였다.있는 발판을 마련하게 된다고 추정하였다. 0.5%가 control사이에서 0.95로 가장 색차가 크게 나타났으며, 그 다음이 냉동분쇄 0.5% 0.83으로 나타나 송이의 첨가율이 높을수록 색차가 크게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. 색차가 가장 낮은 제품은 법동분쇄 0.3%, 동결건조 0.3%로 나타났다. 송이양갱의 색(color), 냄새(flavor), 맛(taste), 외관(appearances), 질감(viscosity), 종합적 평가(overall acceptability) 등의 관능평가를 실시한 결과 중 색에 대한 기호도는 냉동분쇄 0.1% 송이양갱이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났으나, 집단간 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았고, 냄새는 동결건조 0.1%의 송이양갱이 3.38로 가장 점수가 높았으며, 냉동분쇄 0.3%의 송이양갱이 2.81로 가장 낮은 기호도를 나타내었다. 맛에서는 p<0.01수준에서 집단간 유의한 차이를 나타내었는데, 동결건조 0.1%가 그 중 가장 높은 기호도를 나타내었으며, 그 다음이 동결건조 0.5%였다. 가장 낮은 선호도를 나타낸 것은 열풍건조 0.5%였다. 질감은 P<.05 수준에서 집단간 유의미한 차이를 나타내었으며 동결건조 0.1%가 가장 높은 기호도를 나타내었으며, 동결건조 0.5%함유 송이양갱이 1.21로서, 현저히 낮은 기호도를 나타내었다. 종합적인 평가에서는 동결건조 0.1%함유

  • Supplies of wood chips for fuel tend to increase owing to energy decentralization and new renewable energy policies. This study suggests a technical method that is necessary in order to supply heating energy to rural regions by using wood chips for fuel. Therefore, this study investigates the effects of natural drying methods for eight months by installing a drying facility with natural ventilation capable of loading 10 tons of wood chips, and which derive a natural drying method based on this to meet the quality standards of wood chips for fuel. The study results confirm that it is possible to produce wood chips for high-quality fuel with water content at 20% or less after around 90 days of drying, provided that a drying facility with natural ventilation is equipped with materials that can be procured easily in rural regions. It is also possible to block the proliferation and fermentation of molds that affect the quality of wood chips, provided that intake and exhaust systems adhering to standards are equipped.

  • 선박 건조시에 사용되는 알루미늄 합금은 환경친화적인 재료로 각광을 받고 있으며, FRP 선박의 대체재료로 부각되고 있다. 선박 운항시 해수 환경하에서 선체의 부식을 방지하기 위해 도장 뿐만아니라 희생양극이나, 음극방식 등은 필수불가결한 사항이다. Al-Mg 합금인 5083-H116에 대한 천연 해수 용액에서 저변형율 인장시험을 통한 응력부식균율이나 수소취화의 영향이 없는 최적의 방식 전위를 결정하였다.

드럼식 세탁기의 진동/소음 저감 대책

  • 우리가 일상생활에서 사용하는 가전제품 중에서 소음 진동이 발생하여 생활에 영향을 미치는 제품으로 세탁기를 들 수 있다. 세탁기의 종류는 회전하는 축의 방향에 의해 수직축(vertical axis)과 수평축 (horizontal axis) 방식으로 나누며 국내, 일본및 동남아시아 등에서 사용하는 펄세이터식(pulsator type) 세탁기와 미국을 비롯한 미주에서 사용하는 애지테이터식(agitator type)세탁기는 전자에 속하고 유럽에서 사용하는 드럼식(drum type) 세탁기는 후자에 속한다. 드럼 세탁기의 장점은 물을 적게 사용하고, 삶는 세탁이 가능하며, 건조 기능을 갖고 있으므로 별도의 건조기가 필요없어서 공간을 절약하는 것이다. 또 빨래가 펄세이터나 애지테이터 등의 교반체와 직접 접촉하지 않기 때문에 빨래의 마모가 적다. 드럼식 세탁기의 단점으로는 가격이 펄세이터식이나 애지테이터식에 비해서 비싸고, 무게가 무거우며, 탈수시에 소음과 진동이 심하다. 특히 탈수시 발생하는 소음과 진동은 이방식의 세탁기의 가장 큰 약점이다. 지금까지는 드럼식 세탁기의 진동 소음을 감소시키려는 적극적인 노력이 없었는데, 볼밸런스를 적용한 드럽 세탁기를 개발하여 소음과 진동을 획기적으로 감소시켰다.
