Collection and Utilization of the Construction Labor Information Using PDA and Barcode (PDA 및 바코드 기술을 이용한 건설 노무정보의 수집 및 활용)

  • Labor management has been considered as an important task in construction industry. However, labor management has not yet been systematically performed because of the wide variety of factors of construction industry such as the field work, the complexity of the work process, the daily employment. Most of the present labor managements are performed to collect the information of the number of labors input during the work period, and to calculate labor cost. The information of activities performed by labors can be effectively used to analyze project status related to schedule, cost and productivity, but the present labor management systems are not based on the activities. The main objective of this research is to develop a labor information management system using IT tools in order to measure the number of labors input on the activities, and to convert the labor information into productivity data. It is anticipated that the effective use of the developed system would be able to effectively assist the scheduling and cost management of a project.

Development of 3-Dimensional Rebar Detail Design and Placing Drawing System (3차원 배근설계 및 배근시공도 작성 자동화 시스템 개발)

  • The rebar detailing is an important work influencing the final performance and quality of RC structures. But it is one of the most irrational and illogical activity in construction site. Many groups of workers, including main contractors, structural engineers, shop drawers, rebar fabricators, and etc., participate in this activity. A loosely-organized process for this activity is apt to produce a big amount of rebar loss or even degraded structures. A 3-dimensional rebar auto-placing system, called as Rebar Hub, has been designed and implemented in this research. Rebar Hub provides a totally integrated service from 3D structural modeling of buildings to rebar auto-placing considering anchorage, splice, and the length of ordered rebar. In addition, Rebar Hub can recognize the 2D drawing CAD files and then build 3D structural models which are used for the start point of 3D rebar auto-placing. After rebar auto-placing, each members of the 3D structural model have rebar information belonging to them. It means that the rebar information can be used for the afterward works such as quantity-survey, manufacturing and fabrication of rebars. Rebar Hub is showing outstanding performance while applying to practical projects. It has almost five times productivity and reduces the rebar loss up to 3~8% of the initially-surveyed amount of rebar.

  • Midtown redevelopment project is intended for restoration of city's declining function and promoting the utilization of land, but several factors such as participants of different nature in the project, different expectation level from them, high land value accompanied by geographical location as a city and the demand for high density development, nature of business that requires long duration to complete and vast amount of fund contribute to complication of feasibility study. Due to these characteristics of midtown redevelopment project, consideration of various factors involved with it and reliable analysis are required but suggested complication of feasibility study is causing halt in project, preventing from launching it and delaying it. So, this study was undertaken to be a help to feasibility study of midtown redevelopment project by suggesting main elements that need to be dealt with analysing questionnaire survey result attained from related expert in this area and arranging total 45 factors essential to feasibility study for midtown redevelopment project that can be classified into 5 main category such as economic/financial factors, legal/institutional factors, market related factors, technical factors and conflict related factors through documental investigation, case study and interview with specialist concerned.

  • For urban renewal projects progressing in large scale, it carries a characteristic that frequently changes the environment, subject, law, plan and the like by a demand from various participants and internal/external factors. As such large-scale urban renewal projects have a lot of possibilities of change, it requires setting a plan to recognize the possible variable factors by each project operation stage and to manage it systematically by defining the variable factors on the basis of working process of the entire project. Therefore this research has produced a factor of main variable management based on working process for systematic variable management on the projects that inherent various possibilities of change as urban environment refurbishment projects. And it also suggests the status of main variable factors characterized by project operation stages quantitatively through reflecting external and internal features for variable factors produced from utilizing ANP methodology.

  • The necessity of specialized and systematic management has been a tendency to accomplish the goal of business efficiently according the trend of construction industry has become bigger, complicated and specialized as well as Placing an order of CM(Construction Management) Service has been Increased because it made viable and positive effect. Institutional plan is necessary CM application from planning, realistic estimation of CM service charge, converting understanding among paticipants for the business and inducing specialization through certifyizing CM qualification to develop CM. But, it makes some realistic and unexpected pro41ems in the middle of step-by-step CM management for doing its business. So we need to consider a measure. This study suggests problems in practical a)fairs and improved idea that it summarized each stage of a bid for CM, planning, construction contract. It shows direction to take root successfully and develop.

  • Stability and security of energy resources are one of the most important factors for a national-development. In this research, we analyzed the Republic of Korea's policy making system on energy security and identified the problems from an innovation system perspective. In terms of the actors, they had limitations that ROK's navy do not have enough strategic plan for energy transportation. The links between innovation actors except defense area were relatively good, but links between the military area(navy) and other innovation actors had weak linkage. The infrastructure did't have enough consideration for military force development. For the institution; the role of the military area on energy security was not completely established. Therefore, participation of the defense area(navy) is required to be stated institutionally.

  • The safety accidents of domestic construction happened more than other industries is performed only under the construction stage. In the foreign countries, however, owners and designers play an important role on safety in an early stage. Therefore, numerous studies were carried out by getting rid of accident risks and institutionalizing prevention activities in an construction stages. Accordingly, this study have performed to deduce the pivotal point of safety management items classified by the subject suitable for construction by introducing of safety conception of domestic and international design and suggested the improvement methods of safety management plans of the planning design stage so as to perform more efficient safety management.

A Comparative Study on Domestic and International Evaluation Criteria of Commissioning for Sustainable Building Certification (국내외 녹색건축인증에서의 커미셔닝 평가기준에 대한 비교 연구)

  • Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport established Heating and cooling energy conservation plan of apartment for 2017, reducing 90% compared to energy consumption of 1990. Also, at 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference, the Ministry announced to reduce 37% of estimated $CO^2$ emission(850 million ton) at 2030. To satisfy this, it is urgent to reduce $CO^2$ emission due to the building, which takes majority amount of total $CO^2$ emission, and public interest for the commissioning of intensified building performance is uprising. However, the building commissioning at construction is not enacted, and not activated due to the lackness of promotion and will of general contractor. Furthermore, commissioning is not mandatory for obtaining G-SEED certification. Therefore, this paper describes effectiveness of commissioning with comparison of commissioning evaluation criteria of G-SEED with LEED and BREEAM, to propose making commissioning as mandatory process and drive changes in perception among stakeholders for activation of domestic building commissioning.

  • Construction process works in sequence order and there are many different software for managing project and activity. So, there are many limitations such as in the stage of activity data loss can occur, in each stage concurrent cannot operate in construction industry. In order to solve these problem, agents have to cooperate each other and they need to share of data. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to develop a process model and the process model will be use in the future to make Construction Project Life-Cycle Management based on concept of PLM(Product Life cycle Management) in the manufacturing industry, CE(Concurrent Engineering) and BlM(Building Information Modeling)
