Due to a shortage of professional labor and the stagnant construction industry in recent days, there has been an increasing demand for securing profitability through cost reduction. Though its importance in the cost and its great influence on the safety and durability of structures, the labor intensiveness of rebar work has caused a serious problem of rising cost accompanied by the loss of rebar materials. In the plant manufacturing process, rebar is cut and bent at the automated facilities and conveyed to the construction site, which makes it possible to manufacture higher-quality bars and to reduce the losses from rebar materials. Different from the expectation, however, this type of plant manufacturing still has not been active since its first introduction in 1990s. In this study, a research on the actual condition of rebar manufacturing plant has been implemented and a standardized rebar manufacturing has been provided as a way to activate rebar manufacturing.

This research examines the need for a quantitative and objective method of calculating baseline productivity in the construction industry, which is known for its high volatility in performance and productivity. The existing literature's baseline productivity calculation methods rely heavily on subjective criteria, limiting their effectiveness. Additionally, data collection methods such as the "Five-minute Rating" are costly and time-consuming, making it challenging to collect detailed data at construction sites. To address these issues, this study proposes an objective baseline calculation method using unimpacted productivity BP, a work check sheet to systematically record detailed data, and a data collection and utilization process that minimizes cost and time requirements. This paper also suggests using unimpacted productivity BP and comparative analysis to address the objectivity and reliability issues of existing baseline productivity calculation methods.

Typically, General contractor in the construction industry can not plan their own of the amount of orders received, and because of the size of wide fluctuations in the amount of annual orders received for equipment or personnel to full-time employment has limits. Therefore, with a vertical division of labor between specialist trades which distributed the risk and the intention to improve the efficiency of production will be. For this reason, the production structure of the general subcontracting relationships are formed. In this way, Depending on the structure of production outsourced management of the project is the impact on the successful completion. Nevertheless, most construction companies do not achieve effective an organized cooperation until now. This study is to understand the actual conditions an organized cooperation between general contractor and specialist trades, and is look at ways to improve with find the complement. This paper is a preliminary study of the leading research based on the present condition of the cooperating companies considered to be the cause. A result of Analysis, the actual conditions in cooperation of the construction industry is staying in an external form of organizational cooperation And were not effective utilization of the organization for the cooperation a production. Specialist trades have had to register as partners for the amount of orders received, the level of practical cooperation was almost no activity to improve a production. in each step an organized cooperation in the construction industry, to improve productivity construction and to create of economic value for the cooperation of production is required.

As the quality of life has been improving, people are getting higher interest and higher expectation for safety. However, the accident rate at the construction site is still high. Therefore, it is urgent to secure the safety at the construction work. Due to the nature of the construction industry, construction sites are directly exposed to the external environment. The possibility of accident occurrence is increased due to various factors such as the always variable processes, the diversity of manpower input, the increase in vulnerable class, and the danger of construction equipment..Particularly, the disasters occurring at the small- or medium-sized construction sites (budget ≤ 12 billion KRW) account for 88.9% of the total disasters at construction sites (73.4% for casualty). It was due to the lack of management caused by the absence of supervisors and insufficient safety measures. Moreover, it is difficult for the small- or medium-sized construction sites to apply basic safety measures such as safety education and safety facility installation by themselves in order to prevent disasters because they don't have sufficient safety organizations. It is because they have relatively less safety personnel and poorer technology system than large-sized construction sites. Therefore, in order to reduce accidents in construction, it is necessary to prevent accidents at the small- and medium-sized construction sites. From this point of view, the objectives of this study were to identify the key risk items causing accidents frequently by analyzing the accidents at construction sites and identifying problems associated with safety management, and to secure the safety at the small- and medium-sized construction sites.

For the study, according to the classification system of Korea construction industry, landscape construction industry were classified into landscape constructor as a general constructor, landscape planting constructor and landscape facilities constructor as special constructors. The results are as follows: 1. The RCR in landscape construction industry have increased for 10 years higher than other construction industry. Concretely the RCR ratio of landscape constructor has increased 0.9% in 1997 to 1.9% in 2006, the RCR ratio of landscape planting constructor 1.3% to 2.5%, and the RCR ratio of landscape facilities constructor 0.5% to 1.5%. Futhermore this increasing trend has been strengthened during the last a few years. 2. Differently from landscape constructor, the subcontract ratio of landscape planting constructor and landscape facilities constructor were higher, especially landscape facilities constructor was highest amount for 71.1% in the subcontract ratio. 3. The RCR of landscape construction industry in the metropolitan area including Seoul, Kyunggi, was higher than other region's, and the ratio of RCR of landscape constructor in this area was 53.5%, landscape planting constructor's 58.2%, and landscape facilities constructor 75.0%. 4. The yearly RCR per company and the RCR by project of landscape constructor and landscape planting constructor were stagnant. However, landscape facilities constructor's RCR showed an upward trend as years go by. This study was focused on the RCR of landscape construction industry, further study on the factors to affect the RCR of landscape construction industry and the RCR by project types is required in the near future.

With the electricity industry structure reformation of the government in April, 2001, Korea Power Electric Corporation was divided in to Korea water power nuclear power and 5 thermal power plant. After, various delivery method is introduced and applied for active profit creation according to the competition between each development companies for the public company privatization. However, the current situation does not satisfy the project participant by selecting the delivery method without reflecting the business goal and project characteristics of power plant construction business. The objective of this study is to research the influencing factors that should be considered to select the delivery method in thermal power construction business and develop a standard of selection of appropriate delivery method through questionnaire and interviews to establish a model to select the delivery method that fits the business goal of the subject of delivery. In the future, if the delivery method selection model suggested in this study is applied, it is expected to select the appropriate delivery method of power plant construction business by effectively reflecting the business goal, characteristics and demand of the delivery subject, and characteristics of the construction business apart from the existing customary practices that decided the delivery method dependent on the subjective and experience based judgement.

This study proposed to compare the performance differences between a manufacturing company and a construction company in accordance with the mutual relations and ownership structures with the management performance based on the increase or decrease of the large shareholders' share-holding ratio (insider ownership, foreign share-holding, institutional investors' share-holding) of a KOSPI listed company in Korea during 10 years(1998-2007). To sum up the research work, first, the increase of foreign share-holding supported the results of previous studies which foreign share-holding has a positive effect on the long term performance by having a positive(+) effect on MTB, and the increase of an insider ownership supported the management entrenchment hypothesis of previous studies by having a negative(-) effect on MTB. However, relations between institutional investors's share-holding and MTB could not find out linkages in spite of the results of previous studies where dealt with the active monitoring hypothesis. Also, to examine the linkages of ROA and the ownership structure, though the increases of foreign share-holding and insider ownership had a positive(+) effect on ROA, the increases of institutional investors' share-holding had a negative(-) effect on it. It showed different analysis results from the active monitoring hypothesis of institutional investors. As a result of verifying whether there is "any difference in the management performances between the construction industry and the manufacturing industry according to the equity structure" which is the second hypothesis, nothing of the insider ownership and whether or not there is the construction industry, foreign share-holding and whether or not there is the construction, and the institutional ownership and whether or not there is the construction industry gave a statistical difference to MTB and ROA. Accordingly, it was possible to find out there is no difference in the management performance between the construction industry and the manufacturing industry based on the ownership structure in spite of different characteristics from the manufacturing industry such as the revenue recognition in ordering, production and accounting.

Alternative project delivery methods including design-build and CM at Risk have evolved as a means of meeting owner's diverse needs and implementing project efficiently with limited budget and time in more competitive construction environment. It is time to consider adopting alternative project delivery methods, especially CM at Risk, for domestic construction industry to enhance competitiveness and to provide various options for owners so that they can select more appropriate project delivery methods for the facility being planned. This research report derives suggestions from investigating how CM at Risk has been evolved in the US construction market. Besides the analysis of CM at Risk market in the US construction industry, the characteristics of companies whose market share are in Top 100, the type of facility usually built by this method were investigated. Based on the analysis of CM at Risk in the US, the prepositions in adopting CM at Risk to domestic construction industry and the possibility of adopting this method have been identified.
The consequences of rapid industrial advancement, diversified types of business and unexpected industrial accidents have caused a lot of damage to many unspecified persons both in a human way and a material way Although various previous studies have been analyzed to prevent industrial accidents, these studies only provide managerial and educational policies using frequency analysis and comparative analysis based on data from past industrial accidents. The main objective of this study is to find an optimal algorithm for data analysis of industrial accidents and this paper provides a comparative analysis of 4 kinds of algorithms including CHAID, CART, C4.5, and QUEST. Decision tree algorithm is utilized to predict results using objective and quantified data as a typical technique of data mining. Enterprise Miner of SAS and AnswerTree of SPSS will be used to evaluate the validity of the results of the four algorithms. The sample for this work chosen from 19,574 data related to construction industries during three years ($2002\sim2004$) in Korea.
