  • The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between health insurance and health by evaluating the impacts of health insurance coverage expansion on health care utilization and health status. To analyze the causal relationship between health insurance and health, this study employed a "difference-in-difference method" that could compare changes in health care utilization and health status across groups in health insurance coverage expansion in 2005. The researcher predicted that the expansion of health insurance coverage would be an exogenous source of variation in the prices of health service use. First, the difference-in-differences estimator between 'illness group' and 'non-illness group' revealed that the increase in coverage of inpatient care services would result from the increases in the stay of length of 'non-illness group' rather than that of 'illness group'. However, the difference-in-differences estimator between 'serious illness group' and 'chronic illness group' identified that the policy change that focuses on expansion of the coverage for 'serious illness' effects on the increases in health care utilization and promotion of health status. In summary, the changes of health insurance coverage focusing on serious illness and inpatient care have positive effects on health care utilization and health status of serious illness group. But, 'non-illness groups' with acute illness receive more benefits from the policy change than 'illness group' with chronic illness.

Economic and social factors were selected as scales to analyze if there is meaningful difference in subjective health evaluation. Method of frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis was used, and multi regression analysis was also conducted to verify whether the private health insurance has control effect over the relation between the subjective health evaluation and the economic & social factor. As a result of the study, age, education, home ownership, peer group meeting, overall satisfaction, private health insurance were major factors affecting the subjective health evaluation of baby boomer generation. • The demand of the real-time data was promoted by significant development of network and IT technology. In particular, the entry of an aging society and income growth increase the demand for personal health related data which attempt to provide various and evolutional healthcare services by several healthcare institutions. Especially the presentation of the medical examination result is the most basic healthcare services which should be expressed to maximize understanding in personal health records for their own health. However according to absence of systematic visualization framework and visualization model, intuitive understanding of healthcare related data is difficult. Cosequently In this study, customized visualization representation based on the results of medical examination was provided to aviod consistent format for health examinee and establish a variety of data representations.

  • The study aims to comprehend the health needs of multicultural families, identify relevant policies, and explore ways to enhance health information accessibility through Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Employing a qualitative research method, the health status of multicultural families was analyzed through literature review, followed by in-depth interviews. The findings revealed a lower priority given to health policies for multicultural families compared to other governmental sectors, with limited discussion on leveraging ICT for improved accessibility. In-depth interviews highlighted four main themes: "Early experiences in Korean society," "Language barriers in medical facilities," "Unmet healthcare needs for various reasons," and "High demand for health-related services." To safeguard health rights and enhance information accessibility, we recommend strengthening linguistic support in healthcare institutions, implementing government efforts for multicultural families, and designing user-centered ICT platforms.

  • With the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the combination of ICT and medical services has been increasing to improve the quality of medical services. Using the IoTs, we can collect personal health information continuously in a patient's everyday life. We expect that this will improve the quality of medical service through analysis. However, the problem of ensuring the protection of personal information within the personal health information has been hampering the research, development, and application of such services. Other problems include lack of IoT devices and lack of user convenience for collecting health information about a patient's everyday life. Therefore, in this study, we construct a daily health information management service that can collect the health related information at any time and store this data in personal storage. This data is then only provided to the healthcare worker when necessary. We built a test bed for an IoT-based smart home platform and are currently conducting user experiments. Based on the results of this study, we are attempting to provide a high quality medical trial service based on daily health information through linkage with medical device manufacturers, medical clinics, insurance companies, etc. We expect the proposed health information management service will contribute to the revitalization of smart health care services via activating various health related IoT devices and analyzing daily health information.
