The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the health-related quality of life(EQ-5D) on oral health problems in an effort to provide some information on health promotion programs geared toward the elderly and on the right direction of related policy setting. Raw data from the 7^th National Nutrition Survey were used, and systematic sampling was conducted on elderly subjects over 65 years. EQ-5D and chewing problems increased in the group without exercise ability, in the group with pain discomfort, and in the group with anxiety depression (p<0.05). EQ-5D and speaking problems increased in terms of odds ratio(OR) in the group without exercise ability, in the group with pain discomfort, and more in terms of articulating difficulties in the anxiety depression group (p<0.05). The results of this study show a direct correlation between health-related quality of life (EQ-5D) and the oral health of the elderly. As it's mandatory to promote the oral health of elderly people to improve their EQ-5D To promote rural societies should provide oral health education and institutions for continuous oral health care.

당뇨병과 정신건강은 어떤 관련성이 있을까? 당뇨병이 스트레스나 우울증과 관련이 있다는 것은 비교적 잘 알려져 있는데 다른 정신건강 문제와도 관련이 있을까? 당뇨병을 꾸준히 관리하는 것만도 수월하지 않은 당뇨병 환자에게 정신건강 관리를 하라는 것은 또 다른 부담을 가중시킬 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 효과적인 당뇨병 관리를 위해서는 정신건강에 관심을 기울이고 함께 관리하지 않을 수 없다. 건강하고 안정적인 정신건강 상태는 당뇨병 관리의 뒷받침이 되므로 당뇨병의 효과적인 관리를 위해 선행되어야 할 요소이다. 종종 정신건강 문제는 당뇨병 관리의 방해요인이 되기 때문에 이를 방지하기 위해서도 정신건강 관리는 당뇨병 관리와 함께 이루어져야 한다. 스트레스, 우울, 불안 등 정신건강 문제들이 어느 정도 해결될 때, 비로소 당뇨병 자가관리를 지속할 수 있으며 그 효과를 거둘 수 있는 것이다. 대부분의 당뇨병 환자는 진단기준을 충족시키지는 않더라도 적어도 가끔은 정신장애 증상을 경험할 수 있다. 일부 환자는 진단기준에 부합하는 장기간의 심각한 정신과적 증상으로 고통을 받기도 한다. 당뇨병 진단 후 당뇨병을 심리적으로 수용하고 관리하는 과정에서 정신장애를 경험하게 될 가능성이 높아진다. 정신장애도 만성질환의 속성을 가지므로 정신장애를 동반한 당뇨병 환자는 만성질환 관리의 부담이 가중될 수 있다. 따라서 정신장애를 최대한 예방하고 적시에 적절한 치료를 통해 심화되지 않도록 하는 것이 중요하다. 이를 위해 당뇨병과 관련 있는 정신장애에 대한 이해와 지식을 갖추는 것이 필요하다.

The purpose of this paper is to reduce the reverse-causality and overestimate bias of analysis on how health affected middle-aged and elderly worker's early retirement. From the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) panel data, I researched 1,049 people who were 45-52 years old in 2006. To eliminate the reverse-causality problem, I used the health data which is surveyed before retirement. To reduce bias, I controlled the health status when retirees worked. The main results are as follows. First, the worsened health still affects the hazard of early retirement, with reducing the endogeneity problem. Second, chronic illness is one of the strong predictors of early retirement to self-employed, and self-reported bad health is the main health predictor of wage workers. These results give two implications; first, the impact magnitude of the health indicator depends on employment type. Each employment type has different flexibility of working hours. It seems that the flexibility can reduce early retirement hazard with health problems. Self-employed, who has more flexibility of working hours can work until they have to stop working due to the serious health problem or doctor's advice. Second, to promote middle-aged and elderly workers to keep working, the long-term health policy which decreases chronic illness is needed.

The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between drinking patterns and depressive mood, and to understand the factors associated with depressive mood among problem drinkers. Data of 19,878 adults over 19 years of age and older from the third Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were evaluated by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The risk of depressive mood was greater with higher level of problem drinking in both genders. For male problem drinkers, the factors associated with depressive mood include older age, lower education level, unemployment, high perceived stress, bad subjective health status, and non-married status. For female, higher risk was found in groups with the age of 40-49, lower education level, unemployment, high perceived stress, and bad subjective health status. By early screening of the identified risk factors, progression to mental health problem can be avoided. For preventative measures, differential approach depending on gender is suggested.
