  • This study attempted to identify the health-related quality of life and its related factors in urban elderly women. This study used the data of the 2011 Community Health Survey. The subjects of this study were 704 elderly women. Based on the literature review, this study examined variables with health-related quality of life and construct integrated conceptual framework of the study. For data analysis, SPSS 18.0 and LISREL 8.8. were used to calculate the percentage, mean, standard deviation, Spearman correlation, and path analysis parameter. The total mean EQ-5D index score was $0.81({\pm}0.20)$ and the major problems were pain/discomfort (62.5%) and mobility (53.9%) and normal activity (38.9%). The model showed a goodness of fit to the empirical data. Age, income, health promotion behavior, social support, physical health and mental health had significant direct effects on EQ-5D and age, income, health promotion behavior and social support had indirect effects on EQ-5D. These variables explained 28% of the variance of EQ-5D. To improve the quality of life in urban elderly women, it is essential to have a comprehensive program for elderly women.

  • This study examined the fitness of a path model for the relationship among the perceived health status, pain, sleep pattern, and quality of life in the elderly. The data was collected by questionnaires to 276 elderly in J city. The collected data was analyzed using PASW 18.0(win) and AMOS 18.0(win) program. The model fit indices for the hypothetical model were in good agreement with the recommended levels ($x^2$/DF=1.393, p=.077, GFI=.971, TLI=.983, CFI=.989, RMSEA=.038). Based on the constructed model, the quality of life was influenced directly by the perceived health status, pain and sleep pattern, indirectly by the perceived health status and pain. Pain was influenced directly by the perceived health status, and sleep pattern was influenced directly by pain. These results highlight the need for the development of intervention strategies for the promotion of perceived health status in the elderly to improve the quality of life.

  • This study was performed to investigate and analyze users' needs for m-health based prevention and intervention programs that are intended to improve the awareness of metabolic syndrome and promote health behaviors of college students. A questionnaire survey was conducted to 200 college students of 2 university in D city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, chi-square test with the SPSS Version 20.0. The result showed that users wanted customization of prescriptions and accurate measurement of health applications, and provided a positive feedback on information exchange between those who manage their health. The most preferred content was proper exercise methods, and the preferred gamification factors were goal-setting, compensation, and competition. The optimal price for wearable devices was between 10,000 to 50,000 won, and calorie consumption function was also preferred. Although users with experiences of wearable devices and health apps had a higher knowledge score pertaining to metabolic syndrome, there was no significant difference in the overall score. Concerning the health behaviors associated with lifestyles, individuals without the experiences of wearable devices and health apps showed a remarkably lower score. The research has a significance that it investigated and analyzed the contents needed for the development of effective moblie health based prevention and intervention programs targeting the population in their early adulthood. Therefore, based on the findings, we propose a rich and concrete follow-up study on the needs and characteristics of different user types by collecting a population with experiences of wearable devices, and a development of differentiated mobile health based prevention and intervention programs.
