An Empirical Study on Appraisal Indices' Discrimination Significance for Technology Financing: Focusing on KOTEC's Business Feasibility Appraisal Indices (기술금융 평가지표의 판별유의성에 관한 실증연구 : 기술보증기금의 기술사업성 평가지표를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to investigate meaningful relationship between technology appraisal indices and SMEs' financial performances for their continuous growth. The empirical data for this study were based on the technology appraisal results of Korea Technology Finance Corporation(KOTEC) and the financial data of the following 2 years 0f 3,688 SMEs. The meaningful differences between SMEs with superb financial performances and the others, by using t-test analysis, statistically were verified in 25 indices(75.8%) out of total 33 indices. All of five independent variables, namely CEO's capability, technology manpower, R&D intensiveness, market competitiveness and investment feasibility, were verified to have a positive effect on business feasibility respectively and business feasibility also has a positive influence on financial performance, such as sales growth, labor productivity and financial stability.

Taylor Series-Based Long-Term Creep-Life Prediction of Alloy 617 (Taylor 급수를 이용한 617 합금의 장시간 크리프 수명 예측)

  • In this study, a Taylor series (T-S) model based on the Arrhenius, McVetty, and Monkman-Grant equations was developed using a mathematical analysis. In order to reduce fitting errors, the McVetty equation was transformed by considering the first three terms of the Taylor series equation. The model parameters were accurately determined by a statistical technique of maximum likelihood estimation, and this model was applied to the creep data of alloy 617. The T-S model results showed better agreement with the experimental data than other models such as the Eno, exponential, and L-M models. In particular, the T-S model was converted into an isothermal Taylor series (IT-S) model that can predict the creep strength at a given temperature. It was identified that the estimations obtained using the converted ITS model was better than that obtained using the T-S model for predicting the long-term creep life of alloy 617.

The Process of Development and the Change of Freight Flows in the Influence Areas of pyeongtaek and Dangjin Port, Korea (평택.당진항의 항만발달과 화물유동에 의한 항세권 변화)

  • This study seeks to clarify the process of development and the change of freight flows in the influence areas of Pyeongtaek and Dangjin Port, which opened lately. The results of analysis are as follows: from development period to growth period, the relation between the development of the port and the change of the hinterland and foreland shows no great change and the freight concentration rates of the first hinterland and foreland decreased, but those of periphery region increased. While the composition rate of import and export freight of vehicle, fuel and energy decreased, the rate of imported freights (iron or steel, other textile articles, rag and organic compounds) and exported freight (manufacture of basic metals) increased. The reasons for such changes in influence areas of port were the increase of export to China and the U.S.A. in the development period, the increase of import from China in the growth period and the diversification of nations from which fuel and energy were imported.

A Study on the Types of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo" and Its Genealogy ("거경정리표(距京程里表)"의 내용유형과 계통에 관한 연구)

  • As well as "Sangyeongpyo," "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," table of national road transportation system is important to comprehend identity of national geography in Joseon era even if it had not been researched yet. The aim of this study is to divide type of these tables and find its genealogy through mainly analyzing the road network and land names. As the result of this research, "Yeojigo," topographical researches of Korea, edited by Shin Gyeong-Jun as a palt of "Dongguk-Munheonbigo" official book in natural history of the Joseon Dynasty published in 1770, might be identified as the origin for all copy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo." Then "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo," can be divided into at least three major types; almost direct descent of "Yeoji go" as 'type1', minor modification as 'type2', and hybrid edition(type3) with second type that quoted many land names as route information from "Dorogo," another topography specialized for road transportation. Since "Dorogo" was also composed by Shin, after all, all genealogy of "Gogyeong-Jeongripyo" came from him.

Exploratory Study on the Critical Success Factor for Medical Tourism (의료관광의 주요성공요인 및 중요도에 관한 연구)

  • Health care has become one of the paramount issues of the 21st century as governments and individuals grapples the complex problems associated with contemporary medical care such as cost, affordability, and shifting demographic trends. The purpose of this study was to develop the critical success factors of medical tourism for health-care organizations and to measure the wights of these factors. For this purpose, we gathered the data from doctors, travelling agencies and scholars. about the success factors of medical tourism. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was carried out to determine the factors as the Critical Success Factors of medical tourism. We did also the research to evaluate the validity and reliability of these factors. After that the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to analyze the weight and significances among these factors. Factor analysis resulted in 15 major factors (Eigenvalue > 1.0). The AHP analysis showed the list of Critical Success Factors weighted by its significance priorities. The recommendable degree of reliability and validity suggests that these factors could be the valuable refences for the policy making process of the medical tourism in Korea.

  • Purpose of this study is to define competitiveness and attribution factors of Busan port on attracting high value added business such as transshipment cargo. Research finds condition to become optimal transshipment port comprises both internal and external circumstances. As for the internal circumstance, scale and location of the distripark as well as port facilities and the rates, for the external circumstance, international network and information technology on logistics managements are providing positive effects. Optimal plans to attract transshipment cargo should include, first, development of total logistics management system from port entry to unloading, transportation, processing, loading to departure. Second, assign port as free trade zone under customs law to attract foreign investment and goods traffic through tax exemption. Third, unless it is illegal, government needs to grant substantial freedom to shift capital for the foreign investors which will lead increase in cargo traffic and foreign investment.

  • This is an exploratory study that has formulated the formulation and development processes of private social service organizations in the Mokpo region and has drawn the social background in their hidden side and social service-oriented implications. To this end, this study examined the formation and development processes of private social service organizations from 1897 when Mokpo opened its port to the late 1960s when private social services were actively carried out in order to examine the formation and practice processes of social service organizations in Mokpo. The analysis results were as follows. First, the response of private social service organizations to the social desires of Mokpo residents played a major role. Second, even if private organizations played a large role in the formation and development processes of social service, the government's support and Social support was confirmed to be essential for consistent development.

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify the two problems(normalization for the different inputs and outputs data, translation invariant for the negative data) which will be occurred in measuring the seaport DEA(data envelopment analysis) efficiency. The main result is as follow: Normalization and translation invariant in the BCC model for measuring the seaport efficiency by using 26 Korean seaport data in 1995 with two inputs(berthing capacity, cargo handling capacity) and three outputs(import cargo throughput, export cargo throughput, number of ship calls) was verified. The main policy implication of this paper is that the port management authority should collect the more specific data and publish these data on the inputs and outputs in the seaports with consideration of negative(ex. accident numbers in each seaport) and positive value for analyzing the efficiency by the scholars, because normalization and translation invariant in the data was verified.

A Historical Study on the Joseon Government's Attempt to Recover the Tariff Autonomy during the Period of Port Opening (개항기 조선정부의 관세자주권 회복 시도)

  • This study is to review the Joseon government's attempt to recover the tariff autonomy lost in the course of entering into the unequal treaty with then-Japan government, as well as the practical effort to realize such an attempt. Among other attempts, the Joseon government ① began imposing tariffs starting September 1878 by establishing Dumopo Customs Office in Busan, ② dispatched on April 1881 a group of investigators to the competent authorities to review and look back the Joseon's tariff system against Japan and ③ entered into a tariff negotiation with then-Japan government on September 1881 with the emissary (Susinsa) Byeong-ho Jo representing the Joseon government. A series of these attempts, in line with each other, represents the Joseon government's ceaseless, constant effort to recover the tariff autonomy, which is what this study intends to review from the modern-day perspectives. Authored by Byeong-ho Jo to capture an advantageous position in the 1881's tariff negotiation against then-Japan government, 「Joilseui」 successfully represented the Joseon government's position on matters of ① the Japanese tax-autonomous district in Korea, ② defining tariff rates, ③ use of Japanese Yen for payment of tariffs, ④ effective period of the treaty and ⑤ export restrictions on grains. Failure of the Joseon government's attempt to recover the Tariff autonomy was attributable not only to, as 「Joilseui」 defined, ① governments' non-cooperative attitudes on the negotiation table, ② lack of authorities that the entrusted bodies had, ③ import tariffs defined high and ④ export restrictions on grains and red ginseng, but also to loss of the tariff autonomy in 1876 and the 1881's negotiation broken down that were plotted by then-Japan government's invasive policy.

A Study on the Change of Visitor's Perception with the Implementation of Korean Important Agricultural Heritage System: The Field Agricultural Area of the Volcanic Island in Ulleung (국가중요농업유산 제도 시행에 따른 방문객 인식 변화: 울릉 화산섬 밭농업 지역을 대상으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the purpose of introducing the system and the possibility of development by comparing the period before and after the implementation of the Korean Important Agricultural Heritage System (KIAHS) using big data. In terms of perception related to Ulleungdo Island, keywords related to accessibility were derived as higher keywords before and after designation, and in particular, keywords such as various approaches and new ports could be found after designation. It can be seen that positive perception increased after the designation of KIAHS, and the perception of good increased particularly. In addition, the exact name of wild greens and keywords for volcanic island appeared in common, but it was confirmed that the influence increased in the results of the centrality analysis after the designation. In other words, it was found that the designation of KIAHS was helpful in preserving traditional knowledge and developing traditional agricultural culture using it.
