A Master Packaging System for Preserving Qualities of Peaches in the Fresh Produce Supply Chain (농산물 유통과정에서 복숭아의 품질유지를 위한 마스터 포장 시스템)

  • A packaging system integrated in primary and secondary packages to deliver consumers fresh peach in the produce supply chain was designed and its effectiveness on quality preservation was tested. The master packaging system was designed to contain 6 individual polypropylene film (PP, $30{\mu}m$ thickness) packages of 300 g peach fruit inside $35{\mu}m$ thick low density polyethylene (LDPE) bag located in a corrugated paperboard box. As a variable to attain the desired package atmosphere around the fruit during cold storage and subsequent retail display at higher temperature, different numbers (1, 3 and 7) of microperforations in $59{\mu}m$ diameter were tested on the individual PP packages. As control treatment, six fruits were placed without wrapping in a corrugated paperboard box. During the storage at $5^{\circ}C$, the control and individual packages were periodically separated from the box or master package, moved to the simulated retail shelf conditions of $20^{\circ}C$ and then stored for 3 more days with package atmosphere and fruit quality being measured. The package with 7 microperforations was the best in the ability to attain beneficial MA of 6~10% $O_2$ and 11~19% $CO_2$ around the fruit during the chilled storage at $5^{\circ}C$ and simulated retail display at $20^{\circ}C$. Packages with smaller number of microperforations resulted in anaerobic atmosphere at the low temperature storage and/or the subsequent high temperature display. Compared to control, all the treatments with master packaging system gave better retention of fruit firmness with significantly less weight loss.

Changes in Quality of Fresh Ginseng Packed Individually with a Soft Film during Stnrage (연포장재 필름으로 개별 포장된 수삼의 저장 중 품질 변화)

  • The fresh ginseng was packed individually with a soft film bag, ONY/LDPE/L-LDPE (20$\times$30 cm, 93 ${\mu}m$) and stored at $25^{\circ}C$ for twenty days. The Quality-related appearance parameters and the sensory characteristics of the fresh ginseng were evaluated. The quality of the fresh ginseng was lowered mainly due to hardness decrease with increasing storage time, while the occurrence of mould was rarely observed. The normal ginseng had strong fresh ginseng odor and strong bitter taste and its hardness was well maintained during twenty days. The softened ginseng had pungent and sour odor, sweet and sour taste and sticky texture.

Effects of packaging methods on the freshness during storage of lettuce harvested in summer season of Korea (고온기 결구상추의 수확 후 포장조건에 따른 선도유지 효과)

  • This study was investigated the effects of maintaining the freshness and stabilization of supply and demand for lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) by packaging methods in summer. Post-harvest lettuces were packaged by corrugated box, polypropylene (P) box, and individual wrapping using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film. Then, the lettuce samples were stored at $2^{\circ}C$ and evaluated the change of quality during storage. The lettuces wrapped individually with PVC film had lower weight loss rate, color change, and browning index compared to lettuces packaged by corrugated box and P box. The SPAD value and hardness were higher in lettuces wrapped individually with PVC film than other packaging methods. The lettuces wrapped individually with PVC film were showed the highest total phenolic contents and DPPH radical scavenging activity, but there were no significantly differences by packaging methods. The lettuces packaged by corrugated box were showed the inside browning after 14 days. However, the lettuces wrapped individually with PVC film were showed the best appearance. Therefore, the packaging method of wrapped individually with PVC film were effective in maintaining the freshness during 21 days and helpful for the stabilization of supply and demand for lettuce in summer.

Establishment of Distribution System by Individual Packaging of Live Todarodes pacificus (활오징어(Todarodes pacificus)의 개별 포장 유통시스템 확립)

  • A packaging and distribution system for transferring individual live squids at low temperature was developed and compared to a conventional bulk container system. Ten live squids in individual packages were stored in a large container at low temperature ($0{\sim}10^{\circ}C$). Live squids in individual packages at $6^{\circ}C$ showed a survival rate of 84% up to 72 hours, after which the survival rate decreased. However, the survival rate remained at 60% up to 120 hours. Further, the squids survived up to a maximum of 7 days. Optimum temperature was $5^{\circ}C$, and the survival rate of the packages was 70% when stored at $5^{\circ}C$ for 96 hours. A distribution test was carried out using a refrigerator truck at $5^{\circ}C$, and the results showed a 100% survival rate up to 16 hours and over 90% survival rate after 20 hours. A rectangular container was the most favorable when loading the container into the refrigerator truck. In testing the required volume of supplied seawater, 100% survival rate was observed over 15 hours with 20 L of sea water or more. Therefore, a single squid needed 2 L of seawater. After refrigerator truck transportation, optimum temperature for fish tank storage was $5^{\circ}C$, at which the survival rate was over 90% up to 72 hours. Using a refrigerator truck at $5^{\circ}C$, live squids survived up to 7 days, maintaining marketability.

  • 선별은 청과물을 포장하기 이전에 크기, 중량, 색깔등 정해진 규격에 따라 고르는 과정을 말하고, 크게 인력선별과 기계선별, 개별선별과 공동선별로 구분한다. 국내의 경우 아직까지도 수확된 청과물은 농가단위로 개별선별하고 있으며, 중량식 선별기를 이용하여 등급선별 한 후 15kg, 10kg 상자에 포장하는 것이 가장 일반적이다. 근래에 청과물의 부가가치를 높이기 위해서 중량에 색깔을 선별할 수 있는 기능을 추가한 기계시스템이 개발되어 산업화된 바 있다(최 등, 1997). 또한 근적외선 분광분석법을 이용하여 과일의 당도를 비파괴적으로 측정 선별할 수 있는 시스템이 개발 실용화 단계에 있다(이 등, 1998). Quality Change and Weight Loss of Fresh Ginseng Individually Packaged in a Soft Film According to its Storage Condition (연포장재 필름으로 개별포장한 수삼의 저장조건에 따른 외관품질 변화 및 개체무게 감소)

  • Fresh ginseng was washed with water and packaged individually in a soft film bag (ONY/LDPE/L-LDPE;200${\times}$300mm, 90$\mu\textrm{m}$), then stored at 25$^{\circ}C$, 10$^{\circ}C$, or 4$^{\circ}C$ to investigate quality and weight changes of the packaged fresh ginseng according to its storage time. Softening was the major phenomenon which influenced on the quality of the packaged fresh ginseng while spoilage and color-change were relatively minor phenomena. There were very good correlations not only between the quality change rate constant and the storage temperature but between the weight change rate constant and the storage temperature. This result suggests that the shelf-life and the weight loss of the packaged fresh ginseng being store at low temperature can be estimated by an accelaerated sotrage test.

  • 환경부는 생산자책임재활용제도(EPR)의 성공적 운영을 위해 의무생산자의 재활용의무이행방법(직접, 개별위탁, 공제조합)을 개선하고 재활용 이행에 있어 회수 의무를 분명히 하며 재활용사업공제조합을 복수화하되 소규모 조합 난립을 막기 위해 조합 인가 및 취소 요건을 규정하고 포장재 분야 공제조합은 통합하는 등 조합 설립형태를 합리적으로 개선하고 재활용지원금 차등지원 근거 마련 등 조합 운영방식을 효율적으로 개선하려는 취지 아래 자원의 절약과 재활용 촉진에 관한 법률을 일부 개정했다. 이번 개정안에서는 또한 그 밖에 현행 제도 운영과정에서 나타난 미비점을 개선 보완하고자 했다. 본 고에서는 주요 내용 및 변경된 법안을 살펴보도록 한다.
