  • 본 논문은 개념 계층과 마이닝 기법을 적용하여 이미지 데이터베이스에서 이미지 데이터에 대한 검색 기법을 지능화하고, 시스템을 효율적으로 관리하는데 있다. 개념 계층을 이용하여 이미지 정보를 지능적인 형태로 저장, 검색하고, 효율적인 웹서비스를 하기 위해 사용자의 정보와 사용자가 이용한 질의 정보 그리고 이미지 정보를 통합하여 사용자에게 좀 더 많은 부가 정보를 제공한다. 또한, 사용자의 의도를 추측하여 사용자의 의도를 반영한 지적인 이미지 시스템을 개발하기 위한 방법을 제시한다.

  • Present chemical application method using a power sprayer has been labor intensive, costly and ineffective. Therefore, a small agricultural unmanned helicopter was suggested to replace the conventional spray system. In this study, conceptual design for developing the helicopter and a consequential prototype were reported. The overall conceptual design was initiated by deciding the type of agricultural helicopter, as the single rotor helicopter with a tail system. As the first step of the designing, an air-cooled, 2-stroke engine was selected and a prototype transmission was designed by determining the rotating speed of main rotor shaft. A 'pusher' type tail rotor system was adapted to balance the reaction torque and reduce the power use. The tail boom length was designed to avoid the rotating trajectory of the main rotor. The RF console consisted of the engine control, attitude control, and emergency control modules. Assembling the prototype concluded the mechanical development of the agricultural helicopter.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing system for conceptual die design system for Fine blanking. The method of approaching to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. This system has been written in VisualLISP on the AutoCAD using a personal computer and in Microsoft Visual Basic ver.6.0. Transference of data is accomplished by DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) method. This system consists of six modules, which are cognition of a drawing, cognition of shear length, calculation of shear force, materials properties database, determination of degree of difficulty of the product, determination of approximate life of punch and die modules. Results carried out in each module will provide efficiency to the designer and the manufacturer of die for Fine blanking. But the main focus of this system is the design of die for Fine blanking in the level of general concept. In order to use powerful tool in this field, developed system will be studied continuously.

  • The COMS, the first meteorological geostationary satellite in Korea, is under development by KARI. The radiator size and the heater power for the thermal control of COMS are calculated using an analytic method. The total radiator area of $4.85\;m^2$ and the total heater power of 794.77 W are determined at a conceptual design of COMS. The commercial software, SINDA and TRASYS, are utilized in order to compare and verify the analytic results. The results of on-orbit numerical simulation of cold and hot cases show that the radiator size and heater power obtained from the analytic method are appropriate to maintain COMS equipments within required temperature ranges.

  • A steam Rankine cycle was considered to recover waste heat from the exhaust gas of an automobile. Conceptual design of a swash plate type expander was practiced to convert steam heat to shaft power. With the steam pressure and temperature of 35 bar and $300^{\circ}C$ at the expander inlet, respectively, the expander was estimated to produce the shaft power output of about 1.93 kW from the exhaust gas waste heat of 20 kW. The expander output increased linearly accordingly to the amount of exhaust gas waste heat in the range of from 10-40 kW, and the Rankine cycle efficiency was more or less constant at about 9.6% regardless of the waste heat amount.

  • To achieve adequate brake performance in high-speed trains the brake system should : ${\bullet}$ offer high reliability and high availability, ${\bullet}$ permit deceleration of the train with as little wear as possible, and ${\bullet}$ display good control characteristics with, if possible, infinitely variable control of the braking effort. For these reasons, high-speed train is to be equipped with three different and largely independent brake system : ${\bullet}$ a regenerative brake with regenerative feedback in the driven cars, ${\bullet}$ a linear eddy-current brake in the nondriven cars and ${\bullet}$ a pneumatic disc brake in all cars.   • Solar cells have widely been utilized for a satellite to convert sunlight energy into electricity in space. Many different types of solar cells appropriate for each satellite program are available in current markets, which enables us to construct a solar array light and small often required from a low Earth orbit (LEO) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite. Thus, it is important to choose a proper solar cell satisfying the requirements of mass and size for the solar array. In this article, we have surveyed typical suppliers and have discussed some characteristics of solar cells. Conceptual design examples of the solar array for LEO SAR satellites using several types of solar cells have been performed to show the pros and cons of solar cells by comparison of the total mass and size necessary for the solar array.

  • Recently both the importance and the interests of field-experience learning have kept increasing since the Education of Ministry encourages students to take a field-experience learning with the self-driven and creative education as the main issue in the 7th revised education curriculum in 2009. As the importance of field-experience learning goes up continuously, not only the release of its related mobile applications is increasing, but also a variety of researches for supporting the field-experience learning are ongoing. In this research we perform two things. First, we define the basic concept of authoring tool for which support the field-experience learning based on its characteristics and user requirements analysis. We confirmed that the authoring tool for the field-experience learning has to 1) support all activities that happen in pre-field, field-experience and post-field phases, 2) be possible to write the location-based field work, 3) have the authoring function which reflects the characteristics of curriculum such as history, science and geography, etc. that the field learning can be realized, 4) be designed as the structure that the results of inquiring activity after the field experience activity can be reused. Second, we create a conceptual design after confirming the authoring tool.

  • Recently, as the importance of eco-friendly energy has increased hydrogen gas is in the spotlight as future energy. Due to its special properties, hydrogen gas is more difficult to detect requiring more precise sensing technology. The primary objective of this study is to design a concept of an underground hydrogen pipeline monitoring system. For this, the following research works are conducted sequentially; 1)selection of core technology for conceptual design, 2)state-of-the-art review, 3)design of a concept of the system. As a result, DAS(Distributed Acoustic Sensing), and DTS(Distributed Temperature Sensing) are selected as each core technology. Furthermore, a conceptual design of an underground hydrogen pipeline monitoring system is deducted. It is expected that the impact on the eco-friendly energy industry will be enormous due to the increasing interest in using hydrogen energy.

  • The CAD system for design and drawing of limit gauges was constructed and developed. This system was made by Visual Basic program. Using this system, drawings together with concerned data for the manufacturing of limit gauges are generated on the screen, file and printer. The data base was constructed by referring handbooks, textbooks, relevant standards and regulations. This system was proved a powerful tool for design and drawing of limit gauges by actual applications. The output drawings from this system are in good agreement with the drawings and data of the concerned standards and regulations.
