A Study on the Development of Doorstep Equipment for Both the Low and the High Level Platforms - Focus on Conceptual Design & Prototype's Vibration Test Result - (저상 고상 승강장 겸용 승강시스템 기술개발에 관한 연구 - 개념설계 및 시작품의 진동시험 결과를 중심으로 -)

  • In this study, we review all matters for system application based on the international and the domestic standards. Considering the minimization of bottom frame damage, ease of maintenance, withstanding-environmental performance (condensation or rain), maintenance of airtightness, customer convenience and safety issues in railway vehicle, the conceptual design for doorstep equipment for both the low and the high level platforms is carried out. On the basis of conceptual design, the prototype is manufactured. We perform the vibration test based on the international standard IEC-61373 for securement of the reliability and enhancement of design & production. Finally we would like to describe the test results.

  • A conceptual design of single phase high Tc superconducting (HTS) 1MVA transformer was presented in this paper. The rated voltages of each sides of the transformer are 22.9kV /6.6kV respectively. Double pancake windings of BSCCO-2223 HTS tape and the room temperature shell type core are adopted. The HTS tapes of windings are going to be cooled down to 65K by sub-cooled liquid nitrogen. A cryostat made of nonmagnetic and nonconducting material with a bore is going to be used in order to locate the core out of the cryostat. This conceptual design will be modified and a fabrication of the machine is going to be based on the presented design in this paper.

Conceptual Design Method and Program Development Study on Compound Gyroplane with Rotor and Wing (자전형 로터를 갖는 복합 자이로플레인 개념설계 기법과 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구)

  • A design study has been performed to obtain configuration and weight of a compound gyroplane. A study of research trends and characteristics was performed to develop the compound gyroplane sizing program. Based on these results, the sizing program has been developed and its suitability has been validated using existing compound gyroplane data. The subject air vehicles was a Challis Heliplane UAV, Carter Coptet, FB-1 Gyrodyne, and Jet Gyrodyne. As results, the program was suitable to size a compound gyroplane at conceptual design phase, because the greatest error rate was less than 10% and the conceptual design allowance error rate is less than 15%.

  • The authors had presented two previous papers[1,2] on Helicopter/Rotorcraft develoment in Europe and US. Meanwhile, the next generation rotorcrafts, currently under development in US and Europe, have new configurations (tilt-rotor, coaxial, compound) of rotor-type vertical takeoff/landing rotorcrafts to overcome the disadvantages of traditional helicopters. For developing these new types of rotorcrafts, the upgraded conceptual design/comprehensive programs are required. In US and Europe, they are already developing new program tools with their technologies and database obtained during more than last half centuries. For us, many academia, research institutes and industrial engineers have experienced and developed core technologies on rotorcrafts (aerodynamics, structural analysis, flight dynamics, and noise analysis etc.) comparable to US and Europe during last couple of decades of developing helicopters and various configurations of rotorcrafts. In this paper, the pros and cons of conceptual design/comprehensive tools currently used in US and Europe have been summarized. Furthermore, the possibilities and problems to develope our own design and analysis tools have been studied.

  • A conceptual design of propulsion system for a geosynchronous communication satellite with 12 years design life is presented in this paper. Propellant mass budget for the design life is calculated using total velocity increment (ΔV) flowed-down from mission requirement analysis. Sizes of the fuel and oxidizer tank are derived based on the calculated propellant mass budget, and mass of the pressurant as well as the size and pressure of pressurant tank are calculated too. Thruster positioning, number of rocket engines, and position of tank are determined through Trade-Off Study with Structure & Mechanical Subsystem. Propulsion system configuration and its schematics are presented finally.

  • This paper describes a design strategy at conceptual design stage using RETScreen software tool for building application of renewable energy resources. Currently, government and public buildings are required to adopt renewable energy systems with a minimum requirement for the amount of renewable energy supply. Meanwhile, there is a certificate program for private office buildings to enhance propagation of renewable energy systems. When considering application of renewable energy systems to a building, it is worthwhile developing a method to determine optimal design sizes of renewable energy systems. In the paper, a design strategy is introduced with a couple of case studies to determine optimal capacities of each renewable energy system in a building and suggest to use the method to evaluate the system for the building certificate program and the mandatory renewable target program. Objective functions considered in the study are initial system cost and reduction of CO2 emissions from the system. In the optimization study, it is assumed that solar thermal collectors are installed to satisfy solar fraction of 60%. Other renewable energy systems such as ground-source heat pump, solar PV and non-renewable systems such as electric chiller and gas-fired boiler are sized using an optimal sizing method with RETScreen suggested the authors previously.

A Design of a Conceptual Software Architecture for Inter-operational System of Tactical Data Link (전술데이터링크 연동시스템의 개념적 소프트웨어 아키텍처 설계)

  • To ensure interoperability among TADILs, we need inter-operational system of tactical data link that allows sharing of specific, planned information among different TADILs. In this paper, we have proposed the design of a conceptual software architecture of inter-operational system. For developing of a conceptual software architecture, we analyze the actual condition of ADSI used in the US military and identify functions and quality-attributes. Based on these factors, we design the conceptual software architecture for inter-operational system of tactical data link using Attribute-Driven Design(ADD) method. ADD is consist of three phases - choose the module to decompose, refine the module, repeat the steps for every module that needs further decomposition. To evaluate of ADD results, we apply the Software Architecture Analysis Method(SAAM) which is consist of making evaluation scenarios, choosing indirect scenarios, evaluation scenarios' interaction, and creating an overall evaluation. Through the evaluation, we verify the conceptual software architecture of inter-operational system.

  • In this paper, the shape design process is briefly discussed emphasizing the use of topology optimization in the conceptual design stage. The basic idea is to view feasible domains for sensitivity region concepts. In this method, the main process consists of two steps: as the design moves further inside the feasible domain using Taguchi method, and thus becoming more successful topology optimization, the sensitivity region becomes larger. In designing a double-eccentric butterfly valve, related to hydrodynamic performance and disc structure, are discussed where the use of topology optimization has proven to dramatically improve an existing design and significantly decrease the development time of a shape design. CFD analysis results demonstrate the validity of this approach.
