The primary object of the paper is to understand the compressive buckling characteristics of steel-concrete structures through the finite element analysis. The buckling pattern, compressive strength and stiffness of the steel plate concrete structures were investigated by the FEM analysis using the variations of B/t ratios and stud pitches. The investigation was focused on steel plate concrete structures with and without ribs placed on the surface of steel plates. The results of the FEM analysis were compared with the previous results from the theoretical equations. Conclusively, the buckling of the steel plate concrete structures occurred in the transverse direction of the loading direction. The stiffness of the steel plate concrete structure with ribs is greater than the one without the stiffened rib. The compressive strength in the FEM analysis is similar to that of JEAG 4681 and it showed 20% greater value than that of the proposed equations.

The objective of this paper is to identify the compression forces and inelastic failure mode using stiffened steel plate-concrete structures. The compression tests were carried out for the three types of B/t ratios by 25, 33 and 50. The test results proved that the compressive strength of the stiffened SC structures can be estimated by the summation of the strengths both stiffened steel plate and concrete. The buckling of the steel plates had been occurred at the plates between studs. The empirical estimation of compressive strength for the stiffened SC structures under compressive loadings was suggested. The buckling behavior also compared with the results of the finite element analysis. The good agreement has been achieved between the experimental results and finite element results.
The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of the openings on the structural behavior of SC walls. The test parameters were with or without the reinforcing of openings and sleeve thickness. The common failure showed that the crack in the concrete progressed with the plate's local buckling between the shear connectors. The failure of the openings showed that the vertical wall of the sleeve buckled toward the opening inside. The plate buckling load showed a similar value with or without the sleeve of the opening, respectively. However, the maximum compressive strength of the specimen without the opening was higher than that of specimen with the opening.

This paper aims at comparing and analyzing shear buckling characteristics between sinusoidal corrugation shape and trapezoidal one. For this, I adopted the equal-length trapezoidal corrugation and sinusoidal one for the analytical models, and analyzed their shear buckling characteristics through linear buckling analysis and on its theory. Generally, the shear buckling shapes of corrugated steel plates are classified into local buckling, global buckling, and interactive buckling from the two buckling modes. Sinusoidal corrugation shape, unlike trapezoidal corrugation, does not have flat sides, which causes another tendency in shear buckling mode. Especially, the changes and different aspects of shear buckling on the boundary between local buckling and global buckling appear in different corrugation shapes. According to the analysis results, interactive buckling mode appeared on the boundary of local buckling and global bucking in trapezoidal corrugation. However, in the case of corrugated steel plates with sinusoidal configuration, interactive buckling mode appeared in the part where global bucking takes place. Besides, trapezoidal shapes are of advantages on shear buckling resistance in the local buckling section, and so are sinusoidal shapes in the global buckling section.

This paper evaluates the feasibility of use of high-strength steel for soil-metal corrugated steel structures. Two specifications, the AASHTO(2004) and the CHBDC(2000), were compared and the scientific background of equations for the buckling stability in those specifications were investigated to figure out the governing factors for buckling strength of structures. Numerous finite element analyses for round-pipe type of soil-metal corrugated steel structures were carried out with considering the elastic-plastic relationship of a material and the geometrical non-linearity, as well as the various design variables, such as span length, depths of soil cover, section properties, tensile strength and backfill conditions. Buckling strength equation of the CHBDC(2000) is still valid and conservative for both normal and high-strength steel soil-metal corrugated steel structures, and the buckling strength increases with the use of hight-strengths steel.
This research suggest method to calculate more accurate shearing and bending force on corrugated steel plate that it is produced domestically. This research analyze limitation of former formula on domestic design standard and existing research. In addition The strength calculation formula on corrugated steel plate was proposed according to result of the experiment and FEM analysis. In this study, the result that compare experiment with analysis using the proposed shear buckling coefficient and limit width to thickness ratio indicate similar behavior. As the result of the research, It is judged that the structural member design and performance evaluation of the corrugated steel plate was conveniently applied.

Domestic studies on steel plate concrete structures have focused on nuclear structures with high strength. In this study, the SC structure was applied to the general structure, and the SC structure that is advantageous in terms of safety and construction was limited to a special structure. As a basic study for applying SC, this paper proposes basic design information of a SC structure applying cement concrete to plan the structure, which is suitable for eco - friendliness by replacing concrete cement, an important factor in a SC structure, with blast furnace slag. This study examined the compression characteristics and the effective length factor under central compression load. To calculate the effective length factor, the Euler column theory was applied without applying plate theory. The effective length factor was calculated from the yield strength of the steel plate, buckling of the steel plate, and the point at which the concrete was broken. In addition, this study examined whether the maximum compressive strength meets the national and international reference equations with the slenderness ratio (B/t) as a parameter. By analyzing the buckling of the specimen by applying the column theory and selecting the strain of the measured steel plate, the effective length factor was analyzed and compared with the value presented in the reference equation.
This paper introduces a new theory, that in a stiffened plate, a steel stiffener could be substituted a composite material in order to prevent from buckling. Changing a steel stiffener into a composite material would not only preclude welding, but could also prevent damage to the material due to fatigue and corrosion.A composite material is assumed to adhere to a steel plate, and is never separated from the plate until the steel plate reaches buckling.Such plate has variable shapes, with different lengths and widths, and also shows an anisotropic material property. LUSAS, a commercial finite element analysis package, was used in the buckling analysis. This paper investigated buckling behavior in anisotropic composite plates with variable parameters.
