This paper describes the test procedure, instrumentation, verification methodology and the results of the ground vibration test(GVT) and force vibration test(FVT) of the SmartUAV aircraft to estimate experimentally dynamic characteristics of the aircraft. Bungee cords are used to emulate free-free boundary conditions of the test aircraft. The SmartUAV is excited by three shakers and one-hundred frequency response functions(FRF's) is measured. The FRF's are reduced and analyzed to identify the dynamics parameters of the SmartUAV. To extract modal parameters of the SmartUAV such as, natural frequencies and damping ratios, the poly-reference least square complex exponential method is used in the time domain. The mode shape coefficients are estimated with the least squares frequency domain method to identify the vibration modes. The FVT was performed by fixed sine frequency with three shakers on the x, y and z direction and vibration characteristics of structures and detail equipments are measured.

Forced vibration testing is important for correlating the mathematical model of a structure with the real one and for evaluating the performance of the real structure. There exist various techniques available for evaluating the seismic performance using dynamic and static measurements. In this paper, full scale forced vibration tests simulating earthquake response are implemented by using a hybrid mass damper. The finite element (FE) model of the structure was analytically constructed using ANSYS and the model was updated using the results experimentally measured by the forced vibration test. Pseudo-earthquake excitation tests showed that HMD induced floor responses coincided with the earthquake induced ones which were numerically calculated based on the updated FE model.

Impeller blades in the centrifugal compressor are subjected to periodic aerodynamic excitations by interactions between the impeller and the diffuser vanes (DV) in resonant conditions. This may cause high cycle fatigue (HCF) and eventually result in failure of the blades. In order to predict the structural response accurately, the aerodynamic excitation and the major resonant conditions were predicted using unsteady computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and structural analysis. Then, a forced vibration analysis was performed by going through one-way fluid-structure interaction (FSI). A numerical analysis procedure was established to evaluate the structural safety with respect to HCF. The numerical analysis procedure proposed in this paper is expected to contribute toward preventing HCF problems in the initial design stage of an impeller.

An analysis is presented for the combination resonance of a clamped circular plate, which occurs when the frequency of the excitation is near the combination of the natural frequencies, that is, when ohm.=2.0mega./sub 1/+omega./sub 2/. The internal resonance, Omega./sub 3/=omega./sub 1/+2.omega./sub 2/, is considered and its influence on the response is studied. The clamped circular plate experiencing mid-plane stretching is governed by a nonlinear partial differential equation. By using Galerkin's method the governing equation is reduced to a system of nonautonomous ordinary differential equations. The method of multiple scales is used to obtain steady-state responses of the system. Results of numerical investigations show that the increase of the excitation amplitude can reduce the amplitudes of steady-state responses. We can not find this kind of results in linear systems.

this study, forced vibration analysis was performed on the composite main wing structure of a small scale WIG craft which is equipped two-stroke pusher type reciprocating engine. The structural vibration analysis based on the finite element method was performed using a commercial FEM code, MSC/NASTRAN. Excitations for the frequency response analysis were assumed as the H-mode(horizontal mode), the V-mode(vertical mode) and the X-mode(twisted mode) which are typical main vibration modes of engine. And excitations for the transient response analysis were assumed as the L-mode(longitudinal mode) with the oscillating propeller thrust which occurs.

Impeller blades in the centrifugal compressor are subjected to static loads due to the high-speed rotation and steady aerodynamic forces. At the same time, aerodynamic excitations by the interaction between the impeller and the diffuser vanes(DV) periodically excite the impeller blades in resonant conditions, which may lead to high cycle fatigue (HCF) and eventually result in failure of the blades. In order to predict the structural response accurately, the aerodynamic excitation and the major resonant conditions were predicted by performing the unsteady flow analysis and modal analysis using ANSYS. Next, a unidirectional forced vibration analysis was performed by using fluid-structure interaction (FSI) method, and the safety of HCF was evaluated based on the results.

Objective : The aims of this study was to investigate the effects of modified constraint induced movement therapy(CIMT) on upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. Methods : The participants of this study are 4 children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy aged between 8 to 11 years old. During the modified CIMT period, the unaffected hand of the subjects was restrained by a hand splint for 8 weeks, five days per week, five hours a day. And the affected upper extremity was strongly trained by performing functional tasks, which were individually structured use of the affected arm. Measurements used to assess hand function are Jebsen Hand Function Test, and 3D Motion Analysis. The Jebsen Hand Function Test was performed repeatedly every two weeks. The 3D Motion Analysis was performed before and after the 8 weeks of modified constraint induced movement therapy. Results : After the modified CIMT, there was a significant improvement in completed time for the 6 tasks of Jebsen Hand Function Test(p<.05). 3D Motion Analysis was that the finger tapping and the hand tapping has been significantly decreased (p<.05), and the pronation-supination movement has been significantly increased as well(p<.05). Conclusion : In the results of this study, it is evidenced that modified CIMT is effective treatment for upper extremities function of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. For future research, it is recommended to examine various periods and protocol of modified CIMT including impact of long periods application.
A series of model tests was carried out to investigate the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) characteristics of a free hanging PVC pipe under forced oscillation conditions. The prescribed displacement with a period and amplitude was forced at the top of the riser. The motion of the riser along its length was measured with underwater cameras in three dimensions. The top-excited responses in the inline direction and vortex-induced vibration in the cross-flow direction were examined in the time and frequency domains. Multi-peak frequencies in the VIV were demonstrated to be strongly dependent upon the Keulegan-Carpenter number, corresponding with the results of Blevin. It was found that the Reynolds numbers (excitation period) was a critical parameter for the dominant VIV characteristics, even under the condition of using the same Keulegan-Carpenter number, under the top-excited condition. In the resonance at the nth natural frequency by the forced-motion induced VIV frequency, the riser responded with a large amplitude and forced frequency, dominantly in the VIV CF direction.
Augmentation of heat transfer by ultrasonic vibration in pipes are investigated. Measurements of convective heat transfer coefficients on circular pipe walls are made with and without ultrasonic vibration applied to water. These data are compared with each other to quantify the effects of ultrasonic vibration on heat transfer enhancement. Numerical analysis has been also performed in order to extend the ranges of examined temperature and flow rate. FLUENT Ver.6.1 is used to simulate velocity and temperature fields and evaluate heat transfer coefficient with and without ultrasonic vibration. The results show that the ultra- sonic vibration enhances the Nusselt number of forced convection flow and the increase rate strongly depends on flow rate.
